Title: Player seeking player!
Post by: wmchaos2000 on January 30, 2010, 12:00:33 AM
Hello.

Since I am unable to find such a topic here, I might aswell start one.

We are two WM players from Sweden considering a London weekend.
Is there someone who may consider a few friendly battles on a yet not planned date sometime during the spring?
For obvious reasons we are unable to arrange place to play, tableboard and terrain.  :)

Best regards /ola

We've got a club in North London, about 1/2 hour on the Tube from Leicester Square where I play the odd game of Warmaster on Wednesday evenings. Does that help at all?

Club, yes. Wednesday, no.
What about Saturdays and Sundays?

Generally wife and kids happen on Saturdays and Sundays, except on the rare instances when I can disapear for an event of some kind. There is a WMA campaign weekend at WHW at the end of May that I'm planning on going to for example.

Ola, consider the weekend of 13/14 March and fly to Austria, join us at the EuroGT and we make sure you get in plenty of WM games  8)

We are also considering running weekend club sessions, but they probably won't commence until the summer. We need to ensure that the club is able to take the financial risk of running a weekend club session before it can be seriously considered. I have been toying with the idea of running a Warmaster event in the Spring though, but there is already an event planned in Farnborough in April, and then another event likely in Central London in August.

And of course I would as Lex mentioned recomend going to the Euro GT if you can. Unfortunately the house and kids are soaking up all our money, so even being unable to visit my parents in Italy in the late Spring, if I even mentioned flying off to play with toy soldiers my wife would be a little bit annoyed. As it is I haven't yet mentioned that I'm going to the Historical Wargames weekend in May, and that's only a tank of petrol away in Nottingham...

Lex.
We would be happy to go, but the flight is a bit to expensive. Over 350E/pers is not even close to be negotiation-able(?).  :-[

Stomm.
Keep up the idea of a WM weekend. Keep us informed. :)
And as you already has seen, the travel-complications are internationell. ;)

To London(Stansted) we will get for a cheap cost, but we have to book several months in advance. If any loose plans get solid.

And there is no cheaper chance to come?
Last year the EuroGt in the Netherlands cost me around 600 Euro, but every euro was it worth;
So hopefully there is a little chance to see you in Austria;
About 12+ WM Players and 5 games wait for you;

cheers stefan

As an aside, I'm thinking of running our club all day on a Saturday sometime soon, as in in the next three weeks. Not necissarily a Warmaster event as such, but if at least six people show an interest and turn up I can turn it into one...

 :(
My friend is off to some other "event" and without him there is no chance in conviencing the ftbw into a weekend out-of-town.
Maybe next time....

Schindbua, we live in Borås and it is a 450-500km ride to Arlanda, Stockholm.
And I can not find that fluege.de flies to Landvetter, Gothenburg.
But thanks for the effort. :)

Stomm, please let us know as far ahead as possible, we may get lucky with the flight tickets.

I'm also in the planning stages of organising a two day Warhammer tournie in North London. Of course being a Warmaster player first and foremost I'd be daft not to run a Warmaster tournie at the same time, especially as someone else from the club is actually going to run the Warhammer tournie itself (I'm arranging the venue, food, etc...).

We're looking at late July-early August at the moment, with a target ticket price of around £35, hopefully including lunch on both days. We are hoping to be able to make the decision whether to go ahead with the event or not in two or three weeks. Needless to say, when tickets for the Warhammer event go on sale, I'll also put tickets for the Warmaster event on sale at the same time. This will likely be towards the very end of March, or perhaps the begining of April.

What games are you interested in?

CLWC (http://www.clwc.org.uk/) meets on Tuesdays near Euston Station and wednesdays near Marylebone. I go on Tuesdays and often play Epic Armageddon, though we play a wide variety of historical and sci-fi games.

There are other clubs that meet around London. London Warlords are putting on Salute 2010, the biggest UK wargames show on Saturday 24th April, see details here (http://www.salute.co.uk/mainframe.htm).

Wider afield, Games Workshop have events occuring regularly in their UK HQ in Nottingham.

When it comes to a weekend in GB(London-area), it is only WM we are talking about.
Besides WM, I only play WHFB and I get alot of that here in Sweden.
My friend also plays BB, but that is it.

Thanks for your interest and your suggestions(links). It is appreciated. :)

If anyone ever come to Canary Islands (the island of Gran Canaria) let me know it so we can arrange WM games or any other game. I look forward to play with different people and practice my English as well  ;D
