Title: Bonus Strength for Weapons
Post by: RationalLemming on March 10, 2010, 02:54:05 AM
I am wanting to clarify the bonus Strength and basic Strength of some weapons.

First there is the Sword and Halberd...
Sword
Strength: As user

Halberd
Strength: As user +1

Therefore charging and subsequent rounds of combat will give...

Then there is the Flail and the Morning Star...
Flail
Strength: As user +2
Heavy: A flail is extremely tiring to use and thus the +2 Strength bonus applies only in the first turn of each hand-tohand combat.

Morning Star
Strength: As user +1
Heavy: The morning star is extremely tiring to use, so its +1 Strength bonus applies only in the first turn of each hand-to-hand combat.

Therefore charging and subsequent rounds of combat will give...

Finally there is the Spear, Lance and Horseman's Hammer and this is the reason for my post...
Spear
Strength: As user
Cavalry bonus: If using the rules for mounted models, a mounted warrior armed with a spear receives a +1 Strength bonus when he charges. This bonus only applies for that turn.

Horseman's Hammer
Strength: As user +1
Cavalry Charge: A model armed with a horseman’s hammer may use the speed of his charge to increase the might of his attacks. A model on a steed with a horseman’s hammer gains a further +1 Strength bonus when he charges. This bonus only applies for that turn.

Lance
Strength: As user +2
Cavalry bonus: If using optional rules for mounted models, a warrior armed with a lance receives a +2 Strength bonus when he charges. This bonus only applies for that turn.

From the straight reading of the rules it seems that charging and subsequent rounds of combat will give...

Strenght 7 for a Lance on charge??? Ouch! I have never thought this was the case but reading the rules implies this. So what is it?
