Hi all,
On the old forum I documented my progress painting a Warmaster Empire army in the colours of Altdorf. I won't re-post all the old pics as there is some talk that the old posts may be reconstituted, but I thought I might post my recent progress. Like the old forum, I took a bit of a break since late last year; but now it's time to press on and get the army finished! ;)
First up, Flagellants
(http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn114/warmaster888/WM%20Empire/Flagellents.jpg)
Queue a whole lot more crazies!
Then the armoured fist of any empire force, the knights!
Mass cavalry charge!

Awesome work! Thats some very nice units you got there.

How many units have you got to go until you are done?

Hi Pugwash, thanks for sharing this stuff, it's great. Not having seen this army on the previous forum I'd love to see more pictures (I'm assuming that the old posts won't appear for a while).
Any chance on a run down of how you paint your stuff? I'm about to start painting some Empire and I really need some tips before I get started. My lizardmen are taking me forever to paint mainly because I'm treating them like Warhammer models in the way I'm approaching them so any 10mm specific advice would be particularly helpful.
-
Don't suppose you are interested in a painted altdorf themed steam tank?
Just put one up on eBay ;)
-
Very nice knights!
I always love to see the empire figures :D
You have mention a pop-mobile, I can only think in the war altar, is this or is a conversion?
-
Thanks folks - good comments keep my inspiration levels up! And I need plenty of inspiration for the many strips of pistoliers wating on the work bench...
pw: As luck would have it ,the old photo's and a step by step guide on a halberdier strip were cross-posted to my dairy on wargamerau, you can check them out via: http://www.wargamerau.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=61374 (http://www.wargamerau.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=61374)
azrael71: Thanks mate, but you know I love the challenge of painting 'em myself ;)
jchaos79: Indeed, I do mean the war altar, pardon the WFB vernacular.

I'm still plugging away with this army, currently working through Pistoliers, here are some of the things I've managed to get game-ready.

3 down, 2 to go...
Next up, the Steam Tank - pretty but hard to use ???

Then the hero on Griffon
(http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn114/warmaster888/Griffon.jpg)
And the first of the characters

-
Very neaty,
Your army looks marvellous becasue the homogenous colors scheme!
good work
-
The end is in sight!
I finally finished the pistoliers;
And also the War Altar (talk about a fancy looking 15 point wizard upgrade!)
The Knights Panther are almost finished, and that leaves the Blazing Sun knights, characters and skirmishers before it's all done ;D
-
Impressive, real good job

Okay, final post for this Diary. The Grand Army of Altdorf is now complete!! :o
First up; Knights Panther;
Then, Knights of the Blazing Sun to round out a total of 6 units of Knights for the army:
Then 7 stands of Skirmishers. Left these guys 'till last because they seem pretty rubbish game-wise.
And then the last of my characters for the army, Giving me a general, 3 heroes (+1 on Griffon) and 3 Wizards.
Finally; the Grand Army of Altdorf arrayed in all it's glory:
And, of course, the before shot:
A very rewarding army to paint. It took some time, but I did stop and paint a WFB army in the middle, so the dates are slightly misleading.
Next up... Warmaster Dark Elves!

Two words:
OUTSTANDING WORK!!!!
-
Very nice! Its always great to see finished armys, especially if they have a nice theme!
-
Very nice looking army. That's got to feel good getting all that done.
-
Congratulations! It is a pleasure to see a project done.
In the pic of the characters, the little guy on the left. Is from the kislev characters or from the war altar pack?
-
very nice.
Don't discount skirmishers though: They've saved my army from breaking on at least two occasions. This is because combats that would have killed a three-base unit failed to finish off 4 bases. A unit with only one base is almost useless, but doesn't count towards breaking the army like a dead one does, haha.
Just sayin', is all :D
-
Thanks all, for the nice comments :). It does feel very satisfying getting them done at last!
@captPiett: Fair call, I should try them first. It's not that they're worthless, it just seems to me that 25 points a stand seems far to steep! I'll try and use 'em in a game soonish.
@jchaos79: No, it's the mounted wizard/priest from the Grand Theogonist's War Altar. I just didn't have room for him on that base, so with a knight bodyguard he can do double duty as either wizard or hero depending on what I need for a list.
-
Great to see another army 'finished'.
Are you sure you have enough crossbowmen though ;)
