Hello all,
I have decided that the best colour scheme for my albion army is tartan leggings/kilts.
I am not going with woad tattoos as the skin ends up all blue :(
But I was wondering if they should all have red/ginger hair to reinforce a racial stereotype (i.e. scots/picts) ;) ???
I know GW steers clear of them these days (pygmies) but I am not GW.
So what do others think?

I always imagen them as savage picts or scots (red/blonde hair), if you paint a giant put them freakls :). Myabe some lines blue and white over the skin in some figures could simulate tatoo, but in my humble opinion I would avoid tatoo all the figures in the unit.
I seem them as Slain comicbook as a source of inspiration.
Also I am not GW euridit so... maybe my vision is not what the company has

Wasn't there something about using pine pitch as a hair conditioner (and to get an au natural version of the Roman helmet crests ;-) ). Or was that just the German tribes?
In which case ginger/light hair might be a bit difficult to see.
But I guess this is more a modeling suggestion. :-/

Actualy I think the Picts where described as:
a race of smallish people, with a swarty collouring....

Here are a few test shots.

8 Units sat on the workbench with their flesh done :)

They are perfect.
Tartans may change to have a red dominant colour. Depends if you want only one clan or several.
Highlanders are more a viking source than a pictish. So hairs can be... What you want. Including orange for Irish.

I have a very old book on tartans as reference, but to be honest they will be blue, red or green with one of those colours in check.
Otherwise I will go insane ;D
I have just done a braveheart style face paint on the archers that doesn't take too much effort and looks ok.
So I will extend this across the army as I do them :)
