Hello,
With so many players around here sharing the same interest in a great game I would find it a challenging project to connect us all even a little bit more by playing a Worldwide Warmaster Campaign. I already managed two campaigns based upon the Mighty Empires rules at my gaming club which worked quite well. So why not do that at a more global level?
I'm planning to let four opposing empires fight for dominance over an unknown area.
The basic idea is that not individual players may register for the campaign but whole regions. Each region (typically the club, town or area you meet at for your games) has to consist of at least four Warmaster players each representing another empire (extra players may take the part of native tribes or help out some empires).
Every empire will need a Governour responsible for giving ME orders, building, buying extra troops and encouraging his players to fight battles (an extra interest in overall strategies and an intention to study the Mighty Empires rules are important for that position - rules will be provided).
I also would like this to be a living campaign with fluff stories, battle reports and so on. To support that every empire will have a Chronicler. Although it helps for a Chronicler to have a talent and interest in writing he does not need to do all the work alone but would be responsible for encouraging the creative side in all the players of his empire. And the Chronicler will help out his Governour when necessary.
I already did some preparations but before I start I just wanted to ask around here who would be interested to be part of such a campaign (maybe as Governour or Chronicler too?)? And as I'm assuming that behind every member here there are some other Warmaster players at home - do you think you would get together enough players for a playing region?
Curious about your interest and questions,
Gerald

That sounds fun, sadly my Warmaster group numbers exactly two so I won't be able to take part. I look forward to reading about it when it starts though.
I'd also thought about putting a campaign up on the forum but running on rather different lines. Essentially I was planning to run the Storm of Chaos campaign using the Node-campaign rules from the Lustria supplement. In fact, I'm still planning that. Hopefully when your campaign finishes I'll be ready!
Good luck with the campaign planning, it sounds like it'll be great fun to see on here. ;D
-
Interested but not enough players here.
Will watch your campaign with interests and envy
-
Don't know if we have enough players... with a lot of luck will be three (if the others players shows interest and compromise).
By the way the idea is superb
-
If we couild figure out a way to play warmaster online it might work...
Do cats count? I can scrap up four players locally if my 15 month old and cat count... :-[
-
As long as your cat does not play Skaven ;)...
-
Every empire will need a Governour
Here i am;
And here in Austria there are players for 2 Empires!!!
bye stefan

Ok, thought the whole thing over and I think it is possible to announce regions with at least two players (although it is still desirable to get together at least four).
So everyone who likes to play Warmaster and has at least another Warmaster player at his place and wants to take part in this global project: register!
Send a mail to spiritusxmachina@gmail.com with the following informations:
Name
Nickname (this forum)
Region (have in mind that at least 2 players need to state the same Region name - four or more would be even better. Players of one region should be able to meet each other easily to play - so don't make your cousin that's living 10.000 miles away to state the same region)
Playable WM Armies (if you have more than one, rank your favourites first. Don't state armies you don't want to play)
Mail address
I'll give you 10 days time from now on, so Deadline is the 17th August.
Here some extra information beforehand:
-) It is not necessary for you to play every round (if you have less than 4 players you won't even be able to play every round)! There will be enough other players for your empire that will play and submit their results worldwide (and if not - your governour will contact you!).
-) I need Governours and Chroniclers. Those will have extra duties but extra rights too (at the prepared campaign sites). Without them the whole campaign won't work.
So this for now,
Gerald

For your own sake do not put your dates in here.
Send them to my mail-adress: spiritusxmachina@gmail.com

What size force do we need?
-
That's up to agree with your opponent. But I would recommend something between 1500 and 2500 Pts.
-
What size force do we need?
What would be the size you can´t pick any more? Is there any...
cheers stefan

I do not get one thing: Chronicle and governour should have playable armies? or they only act as Umpires?
-
another question which version of mighty empires should be used?
-
@ Governour does not necessarily play but for the chronicler it helps as playing himself would be more inspiration (I guess).
@ Mighty Empires rules: Basically I use the new ME version. I only did some slight changes to fit to Warmaster. If you participate you'll get access to the rules. As an explanation, I know the old rules but they are a lot more complicated. I more prefer the streamlined new rulesset which was a pleasure to organise the last times I did it.

Gerald

Hi,
we are now four within Germany (Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, Frankfurt)

Thanks for the info, spiritusxmachina!
-
I'm in!
-
Ok, Registration phase has ended for now.
We have 6 regions taking part (2 austrian, 2 british, 1 german, 1 spanish) and more than 25 players, every empire has at least 6 players.
We are not ready to start as not every empire has found its governour/Commander in Chief yet. But it cannot be long...
For all that have registered but for some reason did not get an invitation to the central campaign site. Have a look at:
http://groups.google.at/group/worldwide-warmaster-campaign?
and register. There you will find all the news and information about the campaign.
Greetings,
Gerald
P.S.: All other curious readers are invited too of course. ;D
-
That looks great. I look forward to seeing things get going.
The map in particular is very neat, how did you do that?
-
I just put my painted ME tiles into the scanner. Easy and effective.
-
Looks like it has started off well. It will be interesting to see the update this weekend.
Not signed up for the campaign, but if a battle needs to be covered, I might be able to help (dwarves, goblins, elves and empire).
-
Yes. Commanders in Chief are appointed. Starting Tiles and Events are chosen, Challenges too.
From now on battlefields are open!
If you have a closer look at the site you'll see that there is no strict duty of playing every round. You play whenever you want and report your results. But of course you need opponents at your place and they all need to register...
Being part of an empire there is a lot more secret internet activity than the bits you see at the Central Campaing Site I can promise you...
-
As some probably already guessed, French guys will not participate.
A national French campaign was already announced, setup and having already about 30 players.
And 2 concurrent campaign is too many campaigns for most players I guess ;)
We will follow your progress with great pleasure anyway :)
-
Tonight I will mainly be slaughtering dwarves :-*
Thanks to my empire's previous efforts I am able to take 3 dragon riders :)
Here is my list:
1 general
2 wizards
4 spearmen
2 archers
2 silverhelms
3 dragons
2 bolt throwers.
And a few pictures.

I think I may crash and burn but it will be fun in the process :)

Alea Jacta es!
Good luck to your very dragon army, very beautiful indeed!
Also good luck to the dwarf general of the hammer and lance alliance, let see if he won the reknown name of Dragon-killer or end with his beard on fire!
hoping to see how it works the list,
regards

Burnt beard time.
All over in a few turns thanks to the dragon effect :(
Got to say this has been the least enjoyable game of warmaster we have had for ages.
I prefer tighter more closely run games, where it comes down to a final combat :)
-
Your dragon riders are not based correctly. I know it's not easy because of their weight. But how did you handle that in game?
-
The correct 40 x 20 base stands proud of the 40 x 40 one and work on that to direct us in combat.
None of my opponents has ever had an issue with it once it is explained.
Not that difficult really :)
-
I see.

Turn 4 of the Campaign is nearing its end and some interesting twists of fate have been happening.

The site is awesome
-
My my spiritusXmachina when do you sleep. ;D
The sites looking real good!
Its a shame Google has crippled the Google Groups so they have become unuseable forcing you to use Google sites instead.
-
True. But sometimes bad things have a good side too. Or I would not have been forced to do the site. Only shame is that it's not as easy to let others co-work. I really would like to have some battle reports by others. With pictures like JChaos did them.
I tried to put a report of my last battle between me (Brets) and Schindbua (DE) into a little fluff-story (bottom of "Turn 4"). It really was a battle where Dark Elves showed their worst. He had 4 (!) blunder in four turns. At the end he had my sympathy. I hope Schindbua accepts my "explanation" how this all could happen...

Did you look at blogspot.com?

I tried to look at your blog but for some reason my firefox always crashes when I try.
-
not my blog but using google's blogspot free service to host your campaign site
it is easy to configure to allow other people to post

@Spiritus
You are right, this game was a real disaster for me;
But i had my 4 Blunders in 3 Rounds, not 4. :'(
cheers stefan
-
@Schindbua
I beat that in my game during turn 4.
I succceeded to get 4 Blunders in my first two turns in this game...but luckily I´m not playing Dark Elfes like you ;)...so the impact were not that heavy for me.

Pah, all pale compared to my bad luck last night.
What is the worst thing that can happen to a Daemonic army? - Yes, loosing a unit to Daemonic instability.
Whats worse than that? - Loosing 4 units to Daemonic instability.
Whats worse than that? - Loosing 4 units to Daemonic instability in ONE TURN.
Where were the Daemonic Gods? - Obviously they had gone to bed, so they could not be woken from their slumber. :P
Yes I lost. ::)
The Dog (Letting sleeping Daemons lie)
@Schindbua hmm, yours still might have the edge, it certainly wins on probability!

Sounds like you all have had a great time with this campaign.

I am very confident that there will be another campaign in 2011 ;-) so be prepared (and prepare your WM playing friends, too).
Could be late spring after the next EuroGT.

Use EuroGT to determine starting positions ::)
