As I received my dwarf army and started building different lists, I had some difficulties as the general with 155 makes it difficult to fill up the 2000 points with his odd point cost. I mean you could just take one gyrocopter but if you want a second one its over. How about reducing the cost of the general to 150 to make list building for dwarfs less complicated. (As one of our austrian dwarf player once suggested, now I see what he meant. :D )

Never really had an issue with it.
Same with the other local players around here?

In my opinion changing the points should not be for the difficult of round points when making the army, but for the value or worth of the unit (special capacities, etc...). So, why not upgrade to 160 pts instead? (I am a dwarf general and I am not willing to change). Well just my point of view.
-
the spare 5 pts bothers me as well
so i treat it as 160 pts

toss a 5 point sword on a character.
-
Another way would be to change the anvil to a normal +1 dispell mount like War Altar and Unicorn for 15 points.

In that case, i want the same reduction for my Dark Elf General!!!
Guthwine:
you held your dwarfs for one week in your hands, without playing them and try to change the army list? tztztztz ;)
cheers stefan

As a long stand Dwarf General of ill repute......... Go Hammers........ ;D

@Schindbua: First off, its worth a try. :D
The army I wanna try is at 1930 atm points which sadly leaves no more room for taking any other unit.
Also if you leave your cold ones and dark riders at home you can have your 150 points dark elves general. :P

@Schindbua:
there is no point in reducing the costs for the DE General. The DE list has various options that cost 5 points in the last digit (e.g. Crossbowmen 75, Dark Riders 95, Harpies 55). So you have plenty of options to even out the odd 5 points of the general.
The dwarf player on the other hand only has the Gyrokopter with 75 points. Taking just one makes no sense, so you either take two or none - which leaves you with the odd 5 points of the general.
that is a valid point in my opinion. Also you HAVE to take the 5 point sword to get to an even points value - and in my opinion if something is ALWAYS taken in an army list, there might be something not quite right with it.
I could also start talking about having no cavalry and thus being less dangerous/offensive than elven armies. Or i could start about another army with severl heroes with command 9....
so, IMO reducing the dwarf general to 150 is totally ok.
(after all Bretonians also got loads of additional crap they did not really need - so why not dwarfs ;) )
cheers,

Shrug. As long as I can cram in the units I want, I generally view the points remainder as my magic item allowance.
ie one of my typical lists is:
Warriors 12 1320
handgunners
rangers 3 330
slayers
cannon
flame cannon
gyrocopter 1 75
general 1 155
hero
runesmith 1 90
Anvil
1970
for thirty points I can toss in the orb, or maybe a scroll and sword. Really doesn't matter. 30 points is 1.5% of the list... if that makes a difference in the fight my opponent is perfectly balanced in skill with me and its going to be fun game anyways. If there is any real skill difference, 1.5% is nothing. 5 points is .25%... that is a rounding error.

What could make more sense than a magic item for a dwarf character?
A) Fills out the points totals.
B) Ragingly appropriate fluff-wise.
C) High leadership means they can space characters for combat.
D) No cavalry so bumping up the attacks is even more useful.
I vote leave it at 155

Here is the list I was working on:
1xGeneral
2xRunesmith
--------------
8xWarriors
4xHandgunners
2xCannons
2xFlame cannons
1xGyrocopter
=> 1930, BP 9
And 70 points for magic items is a little bit to much for my taste. If the general would be at 150, I could take a second copter. Although a dwarf units with 5 hitpoint would be nice. :)
I mean have no problem adjusting the list but I think due to the 155P the list looses a bit of flexibility.

Throw the +1 armor save on an unit of warriors and call them your hammers or ironbreakers.
You do realize that the enemy merely needs to wipe out your soft stuff and never engage your warriors? Rangers are critical for running down enemy units to.
You have at most 4-5 brigades; two characters can handle that fine- you could drop a runesmith to cram in one ranger unit, and swap a warrior unti for a ranger unit. Gives you three infantry brigades of mixed warriors/rangers and two or three of gunlines.
You know of Lotharie's cannon article right?
