Post by: Carrington on September 04, 2010, 05:59:47 PM
Ebay: I bid this auction up to 320,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330465909108&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBUAA:US:1123#ht_1616wt_1137

Winning bidder took it for $930. ... :o

In this Auction is the following:
Warhammer Fantasy Warmaster;

NOTE – The penny in the picture for size !! (The penny is included at no each charge :)

Kislev Army

These are rare hard to find Kislev warmaster models. The molds to make them were broken and they are not going to be making these again.

x24 bases {w/ 2 on each} kislev horse archers (x4 command)
They started to get painted but were not finished.
x15 bases {w/ 3 horsemen on each} kislev horse winged lancers (x3 w/ banner)
Primed black
x6 bases {w/ 3 on each} bears w/ x2 riders
started to get painted but was not finished
x3 loose bears w/ x1 rider
x36 “sprues” {w/ 6 on each} kislev kossars (x6 command)
started to get painted but were not finished
x36 “sprues” {w/ 4 on each} kislev bowmen
x1 “sprue” {w/ 10} kislev hand gunners (one is broken off the sprue)

x2 horse and cart
x44 warmaster movement bases (a mix of new and used)

Also included but I could not find names on:
x1 kislev character on slead
x3 3 horse w/ riders
x2 horse (appear to be pulling something)
x2 kislev wizards on horse (one w/ loose banner)
x1 kislev hero
x1 kislev wizard

The models come as is and are as shown.
Important Notes:

This suggests to me that it is time to get rid of my small partial Kislev force (perhaps to be replaced by Araby).

If there's interest, I'll post the contents here before I toss them up on ebay; I'd be looking for a premium per unit, but significantly less than the rate of $900 for a ~25 unit army.

 :o
I am in the market for a kislev army alongside an araby one.
But I wouldn't pay that for it.

I'm interested too :)

I calculate the army on ebay went for approx the price when units are sold individualy on ebay... I mean it's approx the medium price if they had been sold one by one on ebay, when comparing to recent prices (approx $ for Winged Lancers, 20 to 30$ for others). A high price for a great army... But for my part i'm not ready to pay so much; Better wait and find a better occasion than paying 1000$ for an army and it's shipping.

Madness.

As I understand it, though, that meant that the Steppe Horse Archers, (still available as empire troops at $15) went for more than retail -- one reason  I gave up on bidding on that auction.

Crazy prices.

I agree, it's madness.
Anyway, i wanted to precise there are two steppe archers models. One is long OOP. Riders have hood and cloak.

you can see them here : http://warmaster-fr.niceboard.com/armees-f6/revue-des-armees-kislev-t1279.htm

Nice, thanks.  That's helpful.
And it is too bad these folks are out of print.  They had a lot of character.

That said, as far as I can see the biggest issues in building an army are the bears, the lancers, and the (arguably) the war wagons: infantry can be proxied somewhat -- Araby archers come to mind -- a mix of steppe horse archers and HElf reavers would paint up nicely as horse archers, and Axemen can be scrounged.

Actually, thinking about it, one of the biggest challenges is scaling up Pendraken's 'Wings' from their Polish winged lancers -- the winged emblem would do a lot to make, say, Bretonian peasants or spearmen announce themselves as Kislevite.

I think few companies make winged lancers? As for war wagons as well its pretty easu to use Hussite ones from Kallistra or pendraken, what do yo ureckon?

GW should re-release Kislev

This is not the point. You can easily take figs from anywhere and say "they are of this or that army". Collectors wants original stuff and that's all.

What i can't understand is that we regularily see kislev stuff... Maybe not each day but well, they seldom appear at least 5 or 6 time a year. Be patient and within one year you may collect them for the same price if you are not lucky, or a better if you find great occasions.

To buy a lot on ebay is interesting if you have a good price, which is not the case for me, here.

It´s the demand and offer that is regulating the price.

Obviously there seems to be a certain demand for this army which leads to this price ..... which I would never be willing to pay for. It´s pretty shure that such offers are coming from collectors who want to have this (by almost all means)

I´m a father of 2 really pretty nice children and prefer to spend the money for them ... and from time to time for a new amry if I can get it for a good price  ::)

Anyway I´m not really surprised because at the times when I were playing MMORPG on the internet I saw auctions were guys were paying 3.000 and 4.000 USD for in game characters......this way thinking the Kislev Army were really cheap :o

I might speculate that the problem with the Kislev line was in accounting. As intellectual property Polish Winged Lancers are fairly indefensible.  As such, the Kislev army (especially at 10mm where it's hard to develop 'characters') was not a particularly valuable asset.  By contrast, ironically, Araby is a sufficiently 'fantastic' faction that it can be valued as defensible IP.  Even with limited sales, the IP contributes to the owning entity's net worth.

If I recall, this one went for $400, about $20 per unit.

A huge sum, but a far nicer price than the last week one... And painted.

It wasn't that huge at all.
People pay a lot more for painted in print armies of the same size ;)
Looks like the market may just be bottoming out :) I saw something similar earlier this year in regards teutogen guard.
First unit went for £36 but when it got down to the fourth one I picked it up for nearly current RRP :)

No I didn't even bid, I was watching it, but have just bought 2 massive BKC armies so couldn't really justify the cost, that and the thought of stripping all those models left me cold ;)

This really nicely painted daemon army of a comparable sice looks set to match the price.
Looks like the bottom has fallen out of the kislev market ???

I normally find eBay the main market for warmaster and a good indicator of interest and realistic (as in what people will pay) market prices.
Where as private sales you normally get things a lot cheaper that eBay.
Just my personal experience.
