Skaven units. Note relative numbers on standsand the inclusion of models of several different unit types in the mix for the clanratslike Rat Ogre, Swarm, Jezails etc

In answer on the earlier question why skaven where cast as "missile"  units. When discussing the Skaven army (which originaly did NOT have stuff like StormVermin ets) we looked at the Skaven fluff and the conclusion was that the different Warclans could be "themed" by allowing

- the stands to have more (or less) rats per base
- field more (or less banners)
- have models from other units on the bases

all of which would be hard to do using the "normal" way to cast infantry on strips. Casting them in couples allows you do do all that. My own Skaven thus have

Skaven Slaves - using mostly models with staves and sticks, and none, or just a small banner
Clanrat units from poorer clans represented with fewer models per base or incorporating ratswarms, with two small banners or one large one
Wealthier clans with jezails on the stand, or even having some Clan Moulder aquisitions

Loads and loads of variation this way

Oh yeah, and you will always see the skaven giving plenty of room for a Warpflame trower team .......

Why wasn't the skaven list built that way in the end?

Why wasn't the skaven list built that way in the end?

Meaning, with Skaven slaves etc ??

Well, why we where thinking of ways to represent the various options in game we where given a KISS order. However, the models WHERE still moulded and cast in the way that allows you to mix and mash them up !

Interesting Mumakil.  Sorry that it never saw the light of day as part of a Haradrim army.

AFAICR the model was sculpted by SteveB, but as it was never commisioned, GW dont have the rights to release it.

Can I ask the provenance of the Grimgore model (and what look like his Black Orc bodyguard)? I'd be really interested to know who sculpted it and whether it was ever given out etc as a prize etc. Oh, and I really really want one! I think that's the first alt/rare/unreleased sculpt that's really caught my interest outside of the Storm of Chaos characters, probably because it's such an excellent down-scale of its Warhammer counterpart.

Bel sculpted them, and other then this and the one I gave to Rick (courtesey of Alexey) and obviously some units for his own use I dont think there are many around (and yeah, they are REALY rather nice)

Not sure, I have a box of "scraps" that has both, so they MIGHT be, but it would be an option to ask people it the have the "one piece" version or the "loose cannon"

Those are pictures from my personal collection so I dont see why not, as long as you atribute it to the sculpter Steve B

The riderless griffon you mean?  Again, with the proper inducement I might see if there are more in the scrapbox....

Even I didn't manage to get a copy of that, how on earth did you manage such a feat?

Lex, are you sure the Hellblaster in two parts was never released ? I bought one few weeks ago on ebay for almost nothing. It was not presented as an unreleased thing but well... I will provide pictures of the lot i bought to this guy and we will see.

Here is the stuff i bought to the person i was talking about in my last post.

Some strange stuff. Canons have sprues more or less like Lex mentioned. The bretonian guies are one of the "unreleased" (but quit common) army designed to prepare warmaster...

And so i have doubts about the two last sprues ! Apparently chaos stuff. Maybe slaanesh daemons and marauders, but i'm not used with those armies.

Could someone add precisions about them ?

Classic bombard and my strange sprue (seem just to be the normal sprue before cutting)

Two-parts Hellfire. Seem to be the same as lex.

Normal hellfire sprue.

Imperial great canon with wheels on each side.

Bretonnian men at arms.

Slaanesh daemons ?

Marauders ?

Two different desings for the mortars kettle !
Bretonian MaA looks like the pre-pre-preproduction casting done to try out the rules in progress.
Slanneesh daemons = correct

The one thing I am not sure off is the last strip......

To be precise about MaA these are pre-production models available before Warmaster game was released, not only before Bretonnian army was available. I got them from the Warmaster intro games done by GW stuff way back in 2000 or so.

I hadn't pay attention ! The mortars are different. Or maybe upside-down ? Have to check that.

Any idea, someone, about the last sprue ?

Finaly the kettles seem to be the same. They where just cast upside-down.

What is the difference between the Big gun with spoke wheels of Lex's first picture and the regular one? that in the Lex's the wheels and the cannon are in the same sprue?

No differences if i remember well. Only the way the sprue was maid.
