Title: The Most Underpowered
Post by: Plaxor on November 14, 2010, 03:33:21 PM
So the more and more I read, the more I see people saying about how their particular fleet is underpowered. I just read it in the Imperial vessels by age article, and was surprised to see the author say that Imperials are.

So I've decided to start a poll of sorts, I want you to list the top (well bottom) three worst fleets in your opinion and I'll keep tally. You can say why if you want.

For me:

Dark Eldar; Dependent on overcosted escorts, stuck in the middle of the fight whilst not being able to take a bullet.
CWE: Similar, unlike Exodites their escorts are poor so they can't take the same advantages
Orks: slow and undergunned to compensate for it.

lol...

Why did Deadshane win Adepticon twice with an Ork fleet?

DE = good one trick pony fleet. Pretty excellent if you play them like they should be played. Xisor never lost with them. Zhai Morenn neither.

CWE=good fleet.

later more.

No fleet is underpowered.. you just need to realize that they all require different game play styles to be effective.

i think most fleet can be powered to win

so is the original question referring to an average "fluffly" build only?

Agreed with both.

No fleet in BFG is underpowered. Though it is the ship selection from a fleet that can make your fleet stronger or worser.

For example: going the Merchant route for Tau GW versus the Explorer/Hero route.

If we are talking about basic fleet engagement senario i can split fleets in 3 tiers based on their power:

Tier 1 - all Eldar, necrons, tyranids
Tier 2 - all other races
Tier 3 - Orks, Armada Space marines

So based on my judgement i would say that ORKs require more love atm )

Given my win-loss ratio, I would suspect that the most underpowered fleet is whichever one I happen to be fielding on any given day...

I agree there are few 'weak' fleets.
I know some people around here see space marines as less capable, but then (A) you can always take a Battlefleet Solar fleet, and (B) those things that a strike cruiser does well, it does awesomely well.

What you see as the weakest fleet will also depend on the balance of players in your area. If you have a lot of chaos players with a Carnage-class fetish (like here) and/or necron players then you will see eldar as proportionately less effective than others might.

Am currently starting a kabalite fleet since I saw the new jetbikes and went 'want'. Is there a decent exposition on tactics and/or a battle report floating about somewhere?

If we are talking about basic fleet engagement senario

That's the real problem right there, a lot of people only play a basic fleet engagement.

Boring.
