If you could take control of BFG, and rename it to anything else, what would you call the game?
I ask mainly because, the game started off as exactly that, Battle Fleet Gothic, covering the wars and battles in the Gothic sector of imperial fleets vs chaos fleets, with the incursions and annoyances of orks and the raiding eldar. The game has been expanded past the Gothic sector into other ares of the galaxy, adding tau, necrons, tyanids and other fleets, as well as expanded and alternative imperial and chaos fleets. Its no longer just the Gothic sector.
The name Battle Fleet Gothic does have some nostalgia value to me, and I'm sure to many others. But I feel like its not really the name the game should have. It would be a great name for the Imperial fleet list for the sector though.
So, do you agree? Disagree? Any reasons are valid, and if you would change the name what would you change it to?
I'm not entirely sure on what I'd call it myself, including the phrase '40k' in the title might be a little tacky, but it could work. "Fleet Battles 40k"
Or maybe take the 'warhammer' part of 40k and translate it into a cheeky title like.. "Nova cannon 40k"

Space Fleet 40,000 ;D

The name sounds pretty good. It is well known.

Battlefleets 40k

I quite like the current name, it gives it a 'dark' epic sort of feel. Plus everybody (in our hobby) knows what you mean when you say BFG.

There's a few in my circle who think bfg means big friendly giant or big f gun.

Ya well, BFG = Big Friendly Giant = a book.

Yup, I'm just pointing out, that to outsiders, BFG is less iconic than 40k if you say it out loud.

Space Hulk: Outside Edition
:D that's a fun one!

Umm... So does this mean BFG is not a nova cannon reference???

There's:
Warhammer Fantasy
Warhammer 40,000
so let's have:
Warhammer Void War
BFG is entirely iconic, even to people who don't know the game. The only people who don't know it are those that don't know what Games Workshop is, and that's a rarity in itself.
Basically, the only people who think it isn't iconic are those who know it too well, and think that the "Gothic" part of the name only refers to the Gothic sector. We all know that all Warhammer everywhere is "gothic", so it really means "Gothic space battles".
After all, plenty of battles and stories are not set in the 41st millenium, often in the 30's, yet we still call it Warhammer 40,000.
