Title: [WM] Dark Elf army
Post by: calmacil on February 21, 2011, 06:44:57 PM
Me and a few mates are going to start a campaign for warmaster, so i thought i'd paint up a dark elf army especially for the campaign. This will be my third warmaster army.  ;D

I don't want to spend too long on this army, nothing too fancy, a tabletop battle standard is fine with me. Hoping this painting blog will increase my speed a bit.

I'm planning on a limited palet of black, gold, silver and purple.

Here's what i'm planning on painting.
That's 19 units and a pack of characters.

I've just cleaned up the female sorceress.
I'm going to do a round sacrifical stone with runes on it. I found an old watch that had fallen to bits, took the back off it and used the battery for the round stone.
Those engraved letters on the battery look really thin. I'll just wack a load of black paint on it and hope it doesn't show through. Made in the USA wouldn't be a great look for a dark elf army.

I've made a start on a hero in a chariot. This is the Cold One.
For the bases i want them dark. Just sand, black, drybrush codex grey and some some dark green flock.
Going to do the whole army this way.

wow, seems a very nice project. Looking forward to see your advances in painting and reading the fluffy campaign story and scenarios!

For the altar, it is not more secure to put some green stuff to avoid the the "made in US"?

what colour scheme has you thought for the army? the traditional purple and gold?

Hi JC  ;D Thanks, yeah i'm looking forward to see how it all looks finished.

The words on the watch battery are very fine, i think a coating of paint will be okay.

Colour scheme.... yes going for the classic purple, gold and black.

Added a harpy to sorceress stand, ready to undercoat tomorrow

Got a unit of harpies cleaned, sand on bases, also ready to undercoat

Do watch batteries leak acid like regular batteries? That could be an unfortunate problem.

That watch hasn't been used for about 15 years, so i'm hoping it'll be okay  :-\

I've added some milliput around the edge of the battery

Here's some progress.

Thanks azrael  :)

Finished a unit of harpies today

Those little groves on the watch battery did show through. I put a thick layer of paint on, still showed up. So i added a layer of milliput, scraped it smooth. It'll do.

Here's my plan with one of my sorceress bases, i'm thinking a summoning circle >>>

Thanks double click here  :)

Something i'm not happy about with figures is forever having to take them out of carrying cases, and putting them on shelves. For this army i've come up with a solution.

I've got myself some magnetic tape that's 2cm wide (the same width as a warmaster base)  It sticks to the back perfectly
This is the tape;

The thickness is 1.5mm, the same thickness as a warmaster base. So it's thin. Here's the harpies with the tape on;

To test if they worked i tried the harpies on a radiator;
they work fine

This is a box file i'm going to use to transport my entire army, i've worked out i can fit 81 stands (27 units) plus command in this box (that's enough for a big 3,000 point army)
It has a sheet of steel paper lined along the bottom, i've put the box on it's side to show it works.

Thanks jc

I'm a bit stuck with cavalry and infantry.   ???
The problem is the way i've sanded and drybrushed the bases.
So far i've glued all the figures onto the base, added sand, sprayed with black undercoat and drybrushed. Simple because i can be messy with the drybrushing, and there's enough room around the figures for me to drybrush.

However, with cav and infantry i can't glue everything onto a base because your brush can't get to certain areas. My plan was to glue one strip of cav/inf to the base, then paint the other one and glue....... but how do i do the sand/drybrush? ...it's going to get grey all over my painting

Not sure if i made myself clear. Do you understand my problem?
Anyone got any ideas?
Title: Re: [WM] Dark Elf army
Post by: Lex on February 28, 2011, 11:54:27 AM
the area between the two strips will be darker anyway. I tend to just have the less visible bits in the darkest basecolour used, and only highlight the shoulders/heads and weaponbits that protrude......
Title: Re: [WM] Dark Elf army
Post by: pw on February 28, 2011, 12:57:47 PM
I base all my WM stuff that way (i.e. paint one stand on the base, the other off) and then put them together once they're all painted. I've not had problems getting to the middle with a small drybrush, anything you can't reach you can probably can't see anyway. I fill in the middle using Vallejo pumice but I imagine using brush-on PVA and sand would be no more difficult.
Title: Re: [WM] Dark Elf army
Post by: calmacil on February 28, 2011, 06:27:33 PM
Okay, thanks Lex and pw.

I think i'll have a go at sanding half the base, painting the other strip. Then sanding that 2nd strip.

I've done 2 half sanded bases, i worked where the other stand was going and painted on a thin line.
I followed this line with my pva glue, and added sand>>>

Just messing around with some different colours for the dark elf spearmen units. I intend to make each unit visually different, so it's easy to identify in the game.

Thanks Guthwine (is that Eomer's sword?) and azrael71  ;D

I have a question for everyone. For my general i'd like to base him on a round coin bigger than 2 pence.

A 2 pence coin is 2.5cm diametre. Ideally i'm thinking 4cm diametre would be best.
Does anyone know any coins that size?

Go to ;ocal DIY, there is 1"5 and 1"8 metal washers that will do the trick (remember an inch is round and about a thumb so these would pen out to  3,75 cm ....

Also, poker chips would be a good size, and marginally cheaper... depends on whether you prefer plastic or steel.

Good idea Carrigton. I was thinking of doing some heads on poles, so maybe i need to drill into the base of one character stand.

Few more stands to go with the banner. As mentioned before i want to be able to identify the spearmen units just by looking at them. So one unit will have black shields, red symbols etc.

A tactical question for Dark Elves..... is the sceptre of sovereignty a good item to have on a Dark Elf General?
It will make my general more expensive than a High Elf general, but will allow me to avoid losing a Cmd for my first blunder
Title: Re: [WM] Dark Elf army

To be honest, I play most games without MI (as I tend to forget them anyway) and you just need to go_with_the_flow, besides it is (to much) fun to not take another hero or sorceror, just to have one expendable around.....

Yes, i'm the same with my Orcs. I usually take a 10 or 20 point magic item after i've got no room for any more units. I've never had a game using one of the expensive 50 point banners yet (neither has any of my opponents)
I like the expendable idea
Title: Re: [WM] Dark Elf army
Post by: Guthwine on March 04, 2011, 03:05:16 PM
I would say dark elves are the exception when it comes to MI because the sceptre is almost a must have for dark elves (the de general in our group never leaves home without it. :D )

Not only can you ignore the dark elves special blunder rule once but you can also issue further orders with that character.

And to the expensive MI (30+) they just dont do that much to be worth their points. The Banner mostly (if not all?) loose effect once the first stand is destroyed so theyll never bring back the points youve spent on them.
Title: Re: [WM] Dark Elf army
Post by: azrael71 on March 05, 2011, 10:17:23 AM
I play DE quite a bit and to be honest the whole blunder thing rarely turns up.
Yes when it does it can hamper your efforts, but other armies manage with a starting command lower than the one you end up with :0
Even with a couple of blunders, it has never been a game decider.

I am of the school of thought that only uses magic items to use up spare points, but I know there are others on here who swear by the magic items :)
Title: Re: [WM] Dark Elf army
Post by: mspaetauf on March 05, 2011, 10:32:00 AM
I play Dwarfs, and I hardly leave home without this orb-thing (the one where you can reroll a command test).

Although the original was much more useful (:P), it's still pretty good I think. I've had games where I managed to make 3 orders during 7 full turns, and other times when I was literally one command away from winning (which of course failed...).

So, Dispel Scroll and Orb are my to mains (sometimes I ditch the scroll).

As I am currently painting my Hammerers I will probably play with the Banner of Shielding in the future, but that's rather a stylisch/background decision - I just want the unit to stand out a bit/be different, so they'll get the banner. And 4 hitpoints with a 3+ save can be very annoying to the opponent (imagine them in defended pos.).

cheers,
 M

I dont usually use magic objects but when I need to fill some spare points.

Banners are quite powerfull in games less than 2000 points (in my experience)
Title: Re: [WM] Dark Elf army
Post by: calmacil on March 07, 2011, 09:48:52 PM
;D Well it seems people have different ideas about the sceptre. The answer is, i'll try both with and without the sceptre. Thanks for all the ideas though, it really helps me.

Didn't paint at all at the weekend, tonight i've finished off my first DE spearmen unit.
I had lots of trouble with drybrushing the base, my brush wouldn't fit in most areas. Next time i do it i'll seperate the spearmen into 3's and put sand on the base before i paint them, then drybrush.

I'm following a similar idea with the crossbowmen unit.

I have a question about the Cold One Knights.
When it says "+1 attack in the first round of each combat" do i get that bonus if i do an advance into a new unit?

Title: Re: [WM] Dark Elf army

Not on accidental contact, but they will get it on advance, as that counts as a different combat.

Trying out different colours for my other crossbow unit. Think i'll try and paint these elves tomorrow or friday. Probably a bit too much gold though, i'll get rid of the gold on his crossbow

Wow. These are simply gorgeous. How long has it taken you to get this far. I am curious mostly because I am a slow painter... It has taken me nearly a month to finish four units of goblins. I use to many colors and don't use the dip method though.

Thank you. Well i'm not keeping score, but I think it's taken me 10-11 days so far. That includes cleaning the figures. I don't paint every day. However, notice that i've chosen the easy units to paint first (bolt throwers, harpies) Units with a high model count such as spearmen took me longer.

It's the first time i've painted warmaster figures, i'm finding it refreshing how quickly the army comes together. I really feel as though i'm getting somewhere, it's encouraging.

I'm not dipping, i'm adding a wash (but basically the same thing) All i do is use base colours, no highlighting or shading and then wash with badab black (a GW wash) It works well with an evil army, makes them dark and sinister looking. Not sure it would look right with an army like high elves. But should be fine with your Orc army.

I highly recommend using a wash, it's my secret weapon  8)

Washes work well on High Elves you just have to be a bit more selective in your colour choice ;)

We need a bit more 10mm scale terrain for our games. So on sunday i made a road, and got some N gauge scale fences and hedges.

Here's the fences i bought;

I quickly painted one up as a test piece

My pendraken figures have arrived, i ordered some 10mm dark elves from them. However, the figures are just Kallistra dark elves. They are also designed for hordes and heroes which is slightly larger than warmaster (12mm or 15mm?) The man at pendraken has very kindly said i can send them back and get a refund. Gutted, i really wanted some other dark elf characters.
Here's the stuff i'm sending back

Had a short painting session tonight, but did manage to finish my Cold One Knights. i'm sanding them tonight, then adding a bit of flock tomorrow.

PS. I've got my first tester game with my Dark Elves on sunday April 10th, against my friends Chaos army.
We're going to use the scenario from Warmag 7 called "The relief of Nienna"
If you know that scenario i'll be playing the equivalent of the High Elf force that's trying to defend their coastal towns.
Should be good fun  :D

If you are willing to get different figures, and Pendraken doesn't fit you, you could try with irregular. They have some high elves poses, but with some paint colour scheme could pass as dark elves.

Here They are some pics

spearmen

here is a link you could use to search for suitable models

hope it helps

Thanks graymatterblues, very kind.

Cheers Jchaos, yes that's lots of help thanks. I've already got your site saved in my favourites, it's brilliant. I've looked at it many times  ;D
I am tempted by some of the figures for my Dark Elf general base. I've got a few ideas for his base so far..... I'm thinking of heads on poles and humans that have been spiked onto a pole (same as Vlad the Impaler used to do)

That would be very cool to see. I look forward to when you get them done and painted so we can see the intimidating pics!

Do either of you know where to get slave minis. That would also be right up the Dark Elves alley.

Using slavewarriors was actualy discussed during development of this list !

Use a mix of Empire flagelants and/or chaosmarauders and/or Bret peasants to proxy these, and use the basic HtH statline

I've built some terrain for our scenario. The first is a village, this will be one of the objectives in the game. I've made it so i can add in buildings of my choice.
I made the road through the village match my other road sections

The village with a few houses on, to give a sense of scale
(http://i491.photobucket.com/albums/rr279/waylander2/warmaster092.jpg)

This is a huge hill, or the base for a big forest. It measures 19inch by 13inch.

Also made the bases for these trees, makes them more stable. I glued them with that big tube of "sticks anything" glue from B&Q, so hopefully they'll remain intact.

Also, i've had a change of plan. I didn't like the thickness of the bases with the magnet strips on the bottom. So i've taken them all off and ripped out the steel paper from the box. I've attached the steel paper to the base of all the figures so they still stick to the magnets in the box. The steel paper is the same thickness as photocopy paper, so much better. Took me a while, but i'm happy now.  :D

That's a shame azrael, it's such a good game.

Thanks greymatterblues.
We used the village for one of our objectives in my first game with dark elves. It was a fun game, i like the scenario.

The scenario was the chaos army was landing on my shores and trying to capture the villages. We decided they were empire villages and i had kept my human slaves shackled in the houses, the chaos army will just butcher any slaves. I used the village in the pics above.

Bonus victory points were given for holding the villages.

6ft x 4ft table.

TerrainThere was woods in my top right, and bottom left. Top corner (on his right, my left) was the coast and sea. A hill next to the sea in his deployment zone with a watch tower. One village was in my deployment zone, centre table. The other on my left, about half way up the table (just below the sea)

The entire Chaos army deployed (2,000 points) against a quickly assembled Dark Elf defence (only 1,000 points) The rest of my army was out burning and looting nearby empire villages, but riders had been sent to bring word of the chaos invasion. Because they had just landed from ships the Chaos army wasn't allowed chariots. The dark elves could take a max of 1 unit of harpies and cold one riders in the main force. Each relief force had to have min of 1 character, and 500 points min.

Start of turn 2 roll for each relief force, 5+ they appear. Turn 3 = 4+ etc
1-3 = point A ....a road at the edge of the board near the 2nd village
4-6 = point B ....a road near the village in my deployment zone

I deployed first, Chaos has first turn.

I defended one village with 2 units of crossbowmen covered behind a wall, and 2 units of spearmen and 2 batteries of Bolt Throwers to the left of that village. A big brigade of 3 spearmen units and a unit of Harpies was positioned to try and take the other village. I decided to put nothing on my right flank, i didn't feel as though i had the luxury of baiting or setting up any flank moves. Limited resources made me concentrate on going straight for my two objectives.

The chaos army swept forward. Knights thundering down on my right flank, infantry/cav down the centre, dragon ogres supporting. I managed to get to the second village before him, and my relief forces appeared at the roads edge on turn 2.

All my bolt throwers and spearmen outside the village were destroyed by Knights his turn 3. Some of my crossbowmen retreated into a woods and encircled those knights, pinning them down with a crossfire of bolts. With desperation his harpies tried to take the village, but were unable to move the crossbow unit behind the wall.

The units that had appeared behind the walled village (2 units of dark riders and 2 units of Cold One Knights) attempted to smash through his knights and marauder horsemen (also a hero riding a dragon) so they could advance into infantry units. This didn't happen, he came out on top in that melee. (chaos knights are so tough)

There was a huge battle for the second village. The 2nd relief force (Harpies, 3 units of Cold One Knights) came crashing into his marauders, dragon ogres and chaos warriors. Their lances bouncing off chaos armour. They were pushed back, reformed and charged again, retreated, charged back in. Eventually breaking the chaos flank, and forcing his general to sound the retreat to his ships. It was a hard battle and bloody. I had a break point of 10, he killed 6 of my units. Two Cold Ones Knights units were down to a single stand.

I managed to hold onto both towns. None of my characters blundered, meaning noone was executed, which was nice.  I was fairly lucky with reinforcements.

Great game though, so much happening.

Overall i really like battling with the Dark Elves. A very fast sweeping army. The campaign should be great.

I'm starting to plan a few more scenario battles. I'd like to do one with limited visability (either dark, blizzard or fog) where one army is camped, with patrols moving around. Camp fires (i'm going to make 10mm bonfies) that give a greater LOS. The other army is smaller but has the element of surprise. An ambush scenario.
Also one involving some units from my O&G army. A battle in the Giant Downs with random moving Giants (roll a scatter dice, then roll on the "uh oh what's he doing now! chart)
I've got 3 giants painted up  ;)

Long time no update  ;D Real life got in the way, not got a painting table at the moment. But nevermind there's no mad rush.

Started on my general today. Took Lex's great advice (thanks Lex) and got myself a 38mm washer from a well known hardware store. It has a hole in the middle so i put a 2 pence coin over it.

Also started on some spearmen, cleaning these figures takes ages  :P

Very nice!

I have experimented with several different colours and have concluded that graveyard earth is the best - enough colour to be noticed and to frame the stands but not so 'loud' it distracts the eye.

I must admit that with Dark Elves it would be interesting to see if a themed colour like darkish purple would work?

Title: Re: [WM] Dark Elf army

Thanks azrael71  :)

Yeah i prefer a single lizard colour for each unit as well.

I'm slowly changing my mind about the Cauldron of Blood, i think i'll do one evetually. But after i've finished my 2k list. I can't find a good model for the statue, i was tempted to use a 25/28mm demon and paint it gold. But it'll look too big.

At the moment i'm set on the demon figure from GW http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat490074a&prodId=prod1120167
Paint him to look like a statue, i'm thinking of moving his arm with the sword, so he's not got as much movement in the figure. Also maybe chop off the tail and put him on a plinth?

Whoa there.
That is an afront to Khaine.
Using a Slaanesh model for a shrine to the bloody handed one :( what next khorne and slaanesh armies stored in the same box ;)

I used an epic avatar and a cauldron I picked up from somewhere.
But it was one of the first armies/conversions I had done so it looks a bit dated now :(

If you imagine that demon without any pink paint covering it, the demon doesn't show any signs of being slannesh. Plus noone around here has a demon WM army, so i might get away with it  ;)

But i love that epic avatar. That's perfect. Those piles of skeletons are good as well, i assume they're from the undead general pack? ....if so i'm tempted to go 50/50 with a friend, he's planning on an undead army.

I'm also painting a manticore next

The hydra has always tempted me to start dark elf
Well done as always
I'm same as you fracas, i love the hydra model. I'm unsure how good it'll be in the game.

I was thinking of tactics as i painted the hydra. My plan is to try and avoid cavalry and use it against infantry. The infantry will only get one stand v's my Hydra, and suffer from terror. I think i'm right in saying that even with support the hydra should just win. (possibly with the exception of tough infantry like chaos warriors)

So i could line the hydra up inbetween two brigades, protecting him from any cavalry units. Then charge him out at enemy infantry

I've now got everything i need to make a Cauldron of Blood stand.

Inspired by azrael i'm going to copy his idea and use an avatar figure and a big pile of skulls from the Tomb King general kit. The space will be limited so i was thinking of standing the statue on the skulls. The big washer will be the base.

I've also gone through some bits i had in a box and found lots of 28mm WW2 helmets and a shield (lots of my friends design miniatures, I get bits given me) My plan is to turn the helmets upside down and use them as the cauldron. Also found a shield that's the size i'm looking for, I think it was going to be a Spartan shield :)

I'll also have some witch elves spare and a spare sorceress. Sorted  ;D

Thanks jchaos79...... i just used the foundation red (Mechrite red) and then painted a few bits of red gore over the top. The red gore is slightly darker.

Finished a unit of witch elves this morning.

Might have to pop down for a game when things quieten down here.
Just having a warmaster revival going on at my old club in Sheffield, so trying to fan the flames a bit :0

I ve never seen the witches so close and in detail. Great figures, and great paint also.

You are making a good job with your army

Who would've thought that grey would look good for lizards, especially at this scale?
It was an excellent choice - it looks better than the blue or green of most armies that I have seen.

This is turning out to be the best DE army I have ever seen.

Thanks all  ;D

I'm fairly near finishing my 3k army now. I just need to paint 4 units of cold one knights, and another unit of spearmen. I'll have to send back one blister of knights because of miscasts, so the last unit will be delayed

I'm going to attempt to churn out some cold one knights over the next few days. Here's my first unit....

Had a game last night (a close game. I found it difficult dealing with his 8 units of cavalry in a 2k game, but my Dark Elves just beat a Bretonnian army in a straight pitch battle.) so I couldn't really paint much. But the night before i made some more progress  ;D

Finished another unit of Cold One Knights, and got another unit ready.

I've gone for plain purple shields this time, instead of runes. I like the blank shields myself

Here's the unit i'll attempt to finish after i'm back from work tonight. This grey unit will my 8th unit of Cold One Knights. So close to finishing now...

just notice you did not take horse cavalry... is it not worth in a dark elf army?

never play with/against dark elves...

Thanks azrael, i'm looking forward to finishing the army at last.  :)

Do you mean dark rider units? yes i've got some, i have two units of those. The dark riders are missile cavalry, within 15cm they get 2 shots per base.

I've tried them in 2/3 games with dark elves so far. They've been dissapointing in both, i never got into a good position where i could unleash 12 short range missile attacks. I'll keep trying them out though, hard to judge them from so few games.

Finished another unit of Cold One Knights, just about to add sand to the base. Can't finish my 9th (last) unit of Cold Ones until i send them back, next up is my final unit of spearmen.  ;D ... might take my time with that last unit

This my last unit of spearmen finshed, horaayyy ;D ....that is unless our group gets ambitious and starts playing 5k games  :P (i wish they would, but it's very difficult to get them playing bigger games)

I just need to finish one unit of Cold One Knights for my 3k Dark Elf army. No rush for that.

A possible list i'm thinking of for 3k is....

General (sceptre of sov)
Sorceress
Sorceress
Hero (Manticore, sword of Might)
Hero
Hero

6 units Spearmen
3 units Crossbowmen
2 units Witch Elves
1 War Hydra
2 units Harpies
3 units Bolt Throwers
9 units Cold One Knights

26 units

It's unfortunate, but i feel that the Hydra is the weakest link in my army. I love the model, i'm determined to use him, so that's why he's in.
...and i have a few alternative lists
such as... drop the manticore and hydra, then add cauldron, wand power and 2 units of dark riders (which is 27 units)

Yeah, 3k is for girls (goad, goad).

Only joking - this is an excellent army, if a bit "cavalry heavy" in my opinion. I would lose a couple of units of cold ones and take some extra crossbowmen myself?

I suppose it depends on how much terrain your table normally has on it. We customarily play with a third of the table covered in terrain so as to prevent the need to max out on heavy cavalry to be competitive.

Yes it is a bit cavalry heavy. It's more of a reaction to my opponents. My bretonnian opponent often takes x8 heavy cavalry for 2000 pnt games, and x12 heavy cavalry for 3k games. Easily outnumbering me. Maybe more hills are the answer

I was thinking we need more terrain on the table. So roughly how many pieces of terrain is 1/3 of the table?

I was thinking we need more terrain on the table. So roughly how many pieces of terrain is 1/3 of the table?

That will depend on the pieces, and how you play them.......

Each piece has a "footprint"  which will in most cases be slightly larger then the actual size of the feature. Each piece also has a function  or combination of functions, and you will want to take those into consideration too  (I guess I realy should finish the article I started on this before Steve was taken from us). In short;

Make sure that you have several largish pieces that block LOS (here we generaly play that LOS in a built up area (a determined area with one or more "man"  made structures also counts as blocking LOS but LOS out of, into and inside it is set to 4cm (compared to the 2 in woods etc)

Make sure you have a good mix of movement blocking and/or movement directing pieces. These can be a LOT of smaller lineair ones in any combination with bigger things like (cliffed) hills etc. Note that a "village"  (built up area) blocks movement too for some tropptypes ! so with bigger built-up areas, consider running a road through them to allow eg. cavalry to move though them in line ........

Assuming you play on a 120x180 table, your terrain should cover a 120x60 area.
Hills, water features, swamp etc have their base size as-is
Woods and built-up areas have a footprint that should allow for 8-10 cm surrounding the actual piece
Lineair obstacles have a footprint that is rougly 3x their base width (so a 12cm section of wall on a 2cm base would have a basesize that is roughly 6x12

Does this help ?

The other way to nerf cavalry is to play with 'capture the objective' type victory condition games. Cavalry cannot enter terrain so cannot capture it!

Of course you still need to play with plenty of terrain though, otherwise the infantry will probably be ridden down in the open before it can reach/occupy said objective!

Yes that helps Lex, thank you. I'll take the footprint into consideration next time.

We have a lot of objective based games, and villages are often the objective. I don't max out with cold ones in my 2k games, i use those points for more xbows and spears.

Just done an army shot. Here are the dark elves waiting to bring back more slaves for their dark towers;

Also, thought i'd share this. My whole 3,000 point army fits into a box file.
I've basically done the opposite to how i started off. I've super glued the box file with magnet strips (cheap off ebay) then glued steel paper on all the bases. I'm loving that my whole army takes up roughly A4 size for storage  ;D

Great work there.
It is always nice to see a fully finished and boxed army :)
As for magnetic basing I have been using this company http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250690426451?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I managed to get the rolls at £30 for 6x 1m rolls including postage.
I use it to line the boxes and on the model bases, mated together it is strong enough to suspend a chaos dragon upside down :)

In the file boxes if there is not enough room, I have added a second level made of foamcore supported on foam struts there by cutting down my 40 boxes to around 20 :) room for some more armies now ;)

So, just to make sure..... that's the steel paper isn't it? ... is that the same stuff i've been sticking to the base of my figures?

Also, i thought i'd share this. I bought this objective marker off ebay. At first i thought it was too modern for Warmaster, but the Empire have clocks. I think they even have a clockwork horse in warhammer.
It's classed as 15mm, but i've compaired it to my 10mm building and i think it fits perfectly. I've just started drybrushing some of the stone work.

(i put the black orcs in shot for scale)

And here's my dark elf dragon rider. Not finished him yet, i think i'm going to paint his skin black instead of dark green
