Title: [SH] Space Hulk Rumours

So what does everyone think of the rumours around the re-relaease(redesigned) Space Hulk?
I know there have been similar ones in the past but this one seems to be gathering a bit of speed.

I personally cannot wait. Even if they redo the rules not to my liking I will use the corridors and miniatures with version one rules.

I'm too young to have experienced Space Hulk, but anyone who has heard of it's greatness is on the edge of their chair :D

All the GW related forums are buzzing with this rumour and this time it's almost official :). I'm for one hyped as hell , Space hulk is my favorite game of all time and like to the most of the people - the reason that i got into playing 40k. The most awesome rumour is that there will be a modular ,3D, plastic gameboard (think 40k building sets) and ovcourse the one i've been hearing since the original SH release - that if they ever going to re-release space hulk they will include an electronic timer (SH had a time limit for turns and there was never any clock or at least a clepsydre in the box) with sound& stuff like bolter fire, roars etc.

Of course I'll buy this! I'm a pretty big Space Hulk fan. I've played both the original edition, and the 2nd edition and I have to say that the 1st edition was far superior. Note: I don't own either, I just hang around gamers that do own them.

I hope when they do remake it, it's more reminiscent of the 1st edition, and will even allow room for 'Guard/Marine/Hybrid/Eldar/etc. expansion.

This is great news, for far all the rumors have been coming true. PlanetStrike is coming out and is ready for Advanced order on the GW website.

 A new Space Hulk will be great news, with all the plastic scenografy GW is producing you can expect some cool pieces if SH is released.They only need to modify the plastic exterminators in the 40k basic game and add a flamer . New Genestealers can be possible too.
 I own first and second edition and they are quite good games , not very long and good for introducing people in 40k.
 The only thing that troubles me is that the new bases for Exterminators are bigger than the older tiles of SH so i cant mix both.
 There is also a fan made version for computer thats is waiting for permission to go public.

GW will never approve a fan based to go public. You can only hope to send it out and hope they don't see it. Each game that I have seen developed has been issued a "cease" notice.

They will not let you use IP rights, especially for a computer game as they are putting out several video games of late.

I really and truly hope I am wrong but history has shown that GW does not approve and nor can they due to various countries legal understandings of IP and etc.

A great example is the GW 40K movie made by some people in Germany. GW shot that down as the IP rights in Germany mean if they allowed it they would lose their property rights.

 It seems that GW is not the problem , THQ, has the rights to publish any computer version . So thay have to ask permission first to them.

One should imagine that all of GW IP protected stuff is either protected by GW or other companies that they have sold "potential" rights to. A great example is Fantasy Flight and whoever is making the Dawn of War video games and the new Bloodbowl one.

After this latest Space Hulk release GW will definitely not allow them to use the computer game idea for Space Hulk.
