Title: Favorite Cruiser
Post by: Bryantroy2003 on April 25, 2011, 01:59:26 PM: I posted this over in Warseer just before it went down, but I figured id ask it here too.

What is your favorite cruiser from any race and why? You can give a brief description of a ship and its history if you feel like it.

Mine is my Overlord and time is short or else id repeat my rambling here^_^ Suffice to say it has been a workhorse in my fleets for the 7+ years ive been playing. It was my first BC and it has rarely let me down. Where as the Mars lets me down consistantly due to my bad luck with LD tests.... damn you double 6's! You are never there for wb rolling!

It would be the Dominator, but I've really gone off NCs recently (another reason I'm so upset about the nerf to torpedoes). The Armageddon is certainly my workhorse battlecruiser. The Mars and Overlord are both ovecrosted for what they are, but BFG:R is sorting that to some extent. I still think the Armageddon will remain the best.

Post by: Vaaish on April 25, 2011, 03:17:13 PM: Vengeance :) (grand cruisers count right?) I love how the ship looks and it's got good range, good weapon, more hits, more shields, more turrets and can keep up with the fleet. The only downside is it can't get a 6+ prow.

In the cruiser department:
The Tau Protector is grand. Slick, manoeuvrable, firepower, missiles.

Overall: Craftworld Eldar Void Dragon Class (Flame of Asuryan -> Spirit of Arina). Awesome. Coolest model in the game. Game

I don't know the rules yet, but I agree that the Tau Cruiser at least looks super fine! As do the Aurora and Solaris Cruisers for Eldar. Special mention too for the Grey Knights strike cruiser.

I think I'll go join a Forge World appreciation society somewhere now :D

Anyway, I am a big fan of the looks/fluff/rules for the Mars...it was the first ship I built for the game, so that is probably part of it!

A runner up would be the GW Tau Hero...most people seem to despise it, but I think it looks really cool, and it has pretty good rules too.

Design:
Adeptus Mechanicus Cruiser: Elegant and still impressive appearence.
Tau Protector: Most elegant cruiser at all. (whats a bit annyong in gameplay, is that two protectors on the same base height suck in termes of placement)
