My current fleet is as follows:
Fleet Admiral with extra re-roll
Retribution Class Battleship
Mars Class Battlecruiser
2 x Dictator Class Cruisers
Dominator Class Cruiser
Gothic Class Cruiser
Lunar Class Cruiser
3 x Sword Class Frigates
What I want to know is what to add to make my fleet up to 2000 points, I'm thinking either six more Sword Class Frigates (this gives me 1995 points), or three Sword Class Frigates and a Dauntless Class Light Cruiser (this combination gives me 2000 points).
I'm unsure which to add. More firepower with 6 extra Swords and more maneuverable, but the Light Cruiser is tougher than 3 Swords and it has a Lance to boot.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The going view is that a Dauntless works best in pairs. Two Dauntless with the same weaponry in one squadron. I would go with 2 Dauntless and 3 more swords. I would go with the lance dauntless type for this list unless you want more torps specifically.

I would suggest taking the swords unless you want to have the dauntless as the odd man out.

You're very light on AC, so adding in a ship with only 1 turret isn't a fantastic idea, as it's very vulnerable and you don't have the means to screen it. Stick to the swords.

1 Mars 2 Dictators is enough AC for my taste. ;)

I didn't fancy going for an Emperor as every IN fleet seems to have one and I just like the idea of huge broadsides from the Retribution.
The Mars and 2 x Dictators have the same number of launch bays as a Mars and Emperor would have.

I must apologise, for some reason I completely missed the 2 dictators.

I'd go with the torp Dauntless. You can squadron it with either of the Dictators!

Seriously? I rant on and on about how good Dictators with Dauntless are that I'm tempted to put it as my signature! ;D
