Hello all,
Getting back into BFG after a very long hiatus. I will be fielding a 800pt fleet of Imperials.
My list will be:
50pt Admiral
140 Sword Frigates (x4)
190 Dominator
180 Gothic
180 Carnage (course its the pre-Schism version)
-----
740 total
Comments...Critiques?
Other options would be...
Admiral
Dictator
Gothic
Dauntless (Torp version)
Swords (x5) TOTAL:: 735
...or...
Swords (x3)
Firestorms (x2) TOTAL:: 745
...or...
Cobras (x6) TOTAL:: 740
Can't seem to settle on which to field. I will be facing Eldar, Orcs, and Necrons. I like the idea of big ships surrounded by escorts, though I love the feel of having the old Imperial- (Carnage) with the new Imperial- ships.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Since you are doing such low points games, the admiral isn't required. For your first list, you could drop him and take a 5th sword or reshuffle the squadron to fill up the points if you wanted to.

I was thinking it would be nice to have a reroll regardless. Though I see your point of view.
My end fleet will be:
Dictator
Gothic
Murder
Sword x5
Total: 745
Gives me AC's, Torps, and the Lance/Battery combo (Lances can still fire through blast markers..correct?).

Yes, lances are not effected at all by blast markers. Interesting fleet list, looks solid but lacks synergy (which is not really a problem in games of that size).

Well in my first outing in getting back into BFG saw my fleet getting trounced in 2 out of 3 games!
My fleet was made up of Dictator, Gothic, Murder and 5 Swords. I faced off against Necro, 'Nids, and Orcs. All 3 games were up to 750pts.
The Necro's basically out-raced my fleet to the objective and then off the table. The 'Nids, just ate my fleet :o, I was on the defense from round 1 (they're annoying floating minefield ::) was a constant annoyance...not to mention the auto Fire Crit they do), and the Orcs was a more balanced game and we ended in a draw.
All the games were fun, in the first 2 game I just didn't have any options to swing the pendulum my way. Was very lopsided. ...but all-in-all, was fun just to get back into BFG again. ;D
Also learned a lot. 'Nid's shoot em first and avoid contact...or ram and self destruct , with the Necro kinda of the same idea(shot/ram), and the Orcs were a blast to play against (more "equal" playing field).
