Title: Warmaster Day, August 21st, Dover NH
Post by: BlackEd on August 03, 2011, 02:37:53 PM
Hello all!

I'm announcing another Warmaster Day on August 21st at Elite Hobbies in Dover, NH.  I hope to start at 9:30 am (I still need to hear back from the store owner; he would need to open early that day).

Army list should be 2,000 pts.  Please bring two objective markers.

No entry fee, but please reserve your spot by replying to this post as space is limited.

So far we have:

Dave -- High Elves
Matt -- Vampire Counts
Charlie -- Orcs
Joe -- Undead
Gary -- Empire
Carrington -- Undead
Ed -- Daemons
Chris -- Dwarves

See you there!

Dave -- High Elves

Charlie -- Orcs
Joe -- Undead
Gary -- Empire
Carrington -- Undead
Ed -- Daemons
Chris -- Dwarves
Chris O -- Orcs

This looks like it will be a good one -- lots of players!

Ed, what do you have in the way of High Elves? My archers will be done but that's about it!

Ed,
Should we bring two copies of our lists, as previously?

One copy of your list is fine.  This is a get together to play games, not a tournament.

If you wish, you can 'tinker' with your list between games to fine tune your list.

We've got another player, so we have 10:

Dave -- High Elves
Matt -- Vampire Counts
Charlie -- Orcs
Joe -- Undead
Gary -- Empire
Carrington -- Undead
Ed -- Daemons
Chris -- Dwarves
Chris O -- Orcs
Ralph -- Orcs

A lot of Orc armies!

Dave- what are you looking for? I have an HE army and a LOTR elf army to. I also have empire if the store owner needs to borrow some more knights.

I don't think I will have time to finish painting my LOTR orc/warmaster goblin army (still need to finish the goblin guard, storm giant and three troll units).

Just bought a 18th Century house where the prior owners 1. did not know what sponges/paper towels were 2. never heard of painter's tape and 3. never chipped pealing paint or fixed up the old fashioned storm windows (they are on frames and screw into the house). 7 windows down, 35 to go....

Dave, here is what I have:

2 units Giant Eagles
1 unit Dragon riders
2 units Silver Helms
3 units Reavers
1 Genral
1 hero
2 mages
1 hero on giant Eagle
1 hero on Dragon
3 units of Spears
1 unit of Phoenix
4 units archers
2 units RBT
2 units Swordmasters

So, as you can see, I'm a bit short on cavalry.  But we can sub in cavalry from other armies.

For all those attending, some of us will be bringing items to trade/sell.  If you have Warmaster bits you are willing to trade, bring them to the event on Sunday and trade with the folks that will be there.  If you are looking for something, post it here in case some one has it and is willing to trade it.

For instance:  I'm looking for 3 units of Orc Boar riders.  I can trade for those.

Thanks!

I have several wound markers.

I am looking for any of the dwarven ones. I am also looking for a giant (either WM or BO5A)

I have:
4 units of goblin wolf riders
1 goblin cannon (forgot to mention this in my trade email)
1 BoFA Smaug (head attached, otherwise unassembled)
[bases included in all above]

1 FW wizard's tower (PM me if you're interested, otherwise it doesn't make the trip)

I go and give you an extra goblin cannon out of the goodness of my heart so you can have a unit of two and you go and sell them!?!?!

sorry - forgot about that. I have two others already...
if you (fellow WM gamers) want the goblin cannon, then give Dave the trade item.

Eh, whatever. I was just giving you hell.

Wait til Chris here's of this though, it'll be the DRM Industrial Infantry fiasco all over again.

My bad; Must be my sense-of-humor deficit today.

I'll be bringing a giant, my armoured worms, a spare War Altar (Empire), Spider Riders (for Orcs), and my handful of wound markers.

Does anyone want Empire Mortars?

Incidentally, have you heard from the store owner about 9:30 open or?

I seem to remember that 9:30 was a 'go' from one of the emails, but I can't quote which one...

Would anyone have an objection to me switching armies from VC to Dogs of War?

Thanks for bringing that up.  It is Official: Gary will open the store at 9:30am.

I think I speak for everyone when I say yes. You're not allowed to play anything except VC. It's the NH state motto. "Play VC or Die (if your name is Matt)"

Matt,  I have no objection.

Matt,  I have no objection.
Excellent - however, after the drubbing I received yesterday* in my 'warmup' game against Dave, can I switch back?
Just kidding - sticking with Dog's of War.   ;)

*The funny highlight of which was the aborted "charge of the dumb brigade"; not so funny was Dave killing outright a unit of dwarves with one round of shooting  :'(

I went 9/9 in hits with a unit of Bolt Throwers and Archers and ended up rolling 5d6 in drivebacks. It might of been made worse by me saying "Oh dwarves, this isn't going to do much..." before I rolled anything.  ::)

I was shocked by hearing that 5d6 killed an until, until I did the math realized that result is only one standard deviation from the norm.

Still 9 of 9 hits? That is amazing.  While my general opinion is shooting doesn't do shit in WM; HE are one of the few armies that can pull it off.

Great event Ed! Thanks for organizing it and thanks to Gary for opening early.
Looking forward to the next one!
