Saw this question on another forum:
Ok, so I was thinking out some ork lists and came across a quandry. An ork warboss is attached to a ship or squadron, how does that effect the ship upgrades they bring with them if they join an escort squadron??
For instance, if I put him in a ravager (torp boat) squadron with looted torpedoes, do the whole squadron get a reroll on the number of torpedoes launched or do I get one?? And a shield upgrade would make a very tough (for orks anyways) squadron of escorts.
There may be something I have missed but I just dont think I can see it.

There's a rule in the Compendium 2010 p148 "Gubbins".
There's also an updated list with upgrades and some of them cannot apply to escorts (such as an additional shield). The rule also says that you can only take one upgrade per command re-roll the warlord has.
Otherwise it says there: "Gubbins taken for escorts must be taken by all escorts in the skwadron (if applicable) for their listed cost and not merely by individual escorts."
So I would say the upgrade counts for the whole squadron, even considering the fact that you have to annotate on which escort the warlord is embarked on. It would be pretty damn expensive if an upgrade would only count for a single escort.

Ah thanks for the page reference. Guess my initial answer was correct. :)

Gubbins same as warlord upgrades?
-
As I understand it, "gubbins" include warlord upgrades and clan upgrades.
-
I can see how you interpret gubbins to include clans upgrade I am less certain that clans upgrades being applied to entire escort squadron would mean also applies to warlord upgrades.
The text specifies clans upgrades.
Besides what about using the ork gothic or armada list that makes no mention of gubbins at all?
-
Yeah, it's written a little bit confusing, but you're right I found this in the clan section :"Clan upgrades are different from Gubbins and may be taken (and paid for) in addition to Gubbins by individual squadrons.". Nevertheless they specify the use of gubbins for squadrons there: "Just as with gubbins, the point cost for clan upgrades for tiddla skwadrons count for the whole skwadron in the same manner gubbins do in all respects.". That's pretty clear. :)
As for the gothic and armada fleets I would say forget them and use the new fleet as it's the one with the revised rules.
