First a little background why I'm posting this question:
I got into BFG via the WH40K background (like most I would think). There I used my Tau in alliance with their Kroot mercenaries. Not always to great effect, but I really liked the look and feel of the Kroot.
Now in BFG the limitation of the Kroot Warsphere really bugs me. I have to get a massive (just starting) fleet of 1500pts before including Kroot. Sure if I get break-even on 1500pts I can also take it but that's kind of rare (same as in 40K).
I know the Kroot Warsphere is formidable but not that much. I would want to include a Warsphere in a 1500pts game, so depending on points limit not points included. Because else you could include 2 spheres once you reach 1500pts, the second sphere would put you over the 1600pts but then you're ready for the 1750pts limit. Because any game larger then 1500pts can include up to 2 Warspheres.
What I'm asking is this: "What do you think about this limitation? (or the Warsphere itself)"

PS: If I'm reading it wrong and you can include Warspheres in games lower then 1500pts please tell me ::)

Hi,
go here:
http://tinyurl.com/23nul8q
FAQ/Compendium 2010.
Check out the Tau Commerce Protection Fleet. At the end it has a Demiurg-Kroot fleet list. It has 1 Warsphere per 750pts.
Wait, I now see what you mean:
1 per 750 pts means : in a fleet of 750pts you may include 1 warsphere. So the cost of the sphere is counted in the 750pts. Not on top.
So 2 in a 1500pts is possible. :)

So the Demiurg can take more Kroot then the Tau? What's the logic behind that? I didn't know I was that far of with my background information. Aren't the Kroot 'part' of the Tau Empire? They are still mercenaries I know that much but they are integrated in the Greater Good.
I'm getting confused... ???

PS: Already had FAQ2010 but didn't read Demiurg fleet thingy.

The limits on kroots should be removed for all lists
-
Particularly as they suck.
-
Whether they suck or not is besides the point.
Kroots = kool
-
Hmm, rules suck, models suck, what's so cool again?
-
Some just don't get it :)
-
The model is cool.

Some just don't get it :)
Indeed...
I don't think anyone would mind if I took a Sphere in smaller games. Because as Sig so kindly put it "they suck".
@horizon: Nothing is quite as nice as smashing a huge spherical device in their sleek spacecraft. Now let's just add some spikes and it'll stick.

Well if the model was a sphere then it would probably be cool, but as it is it's really very blah.

I think both the models and the new rules make the sphere viable
