So, if I am going to attempt to organize a Warmaster event in Greenfield MA, what kind of event would people like to see?
I figure I will try to aim for early spring, since I don't want to compete with the January NH event.
Should we try to do an informal tournament, or do people prefer the open gaming approach?
Are people more interested in getting in 3 games with smaller armies, or would a smaller number of larger games be a nice change?
What about some kind of mega-battle style team game? This might make a nice impact as Greenfield Games has good visibility - we might even be able to get some new players interested...
Just testing the waters, so to speak...

Early spring sounds good Tristan.
I've never played a WM megabattle - that is intriguing. That could be really cool or really tedious.
1.5 and 2K games are the most fun in my opinion. Ed's WM days seem to have settled on 1.5K in order to fit 3 games in. I'd suggest 2K so that it gives players the opportunity to take lists that have a wider variety of options available (who wants to take just one unit of cannons? :P ). In order for the trip to be "worth it" gaming-wise, the opportunity to play twice is almost a must. I am, of course, discounting the opportunities for camaraderie, joke-telling, and mutual harassment that are their own rewards.

Two games at 2k is fine by me. I'd ask you to avoid March 23-25, April 19-22 and June 23-24. Those are Havoc (MA con where Matt and I are probably going to run a WM game), Adepticon and NEAT (EA tourney) respectively.

How about two games at 2500? I always feel that you get more interesting lists at the +500 point levels...
Thanks for the info, Dave - that will help to keep from competing with other events! I would love to try to get as many people there as we can...

ouch 3.5 hours away. That is right on the edge of to far to even think about. The nice thing about dover is that I can be home for dinner with few problems, and help get the kid up in the morning.
Last weekend in April is out for me; first weekend in May is Huzzah. Need to see what is up with the FOW tournament, but I might run a BOFA or WM event....

I don't know what venue you have in mind. If we could go into the evening, then we would have enough time for 3 of the 2K battles.
If we are going to do 2 games, in a day, then I think 2.5k or even 3K would be interesting. Doing a multiplayer battle would be fun also. Having 5K or 8K or even 10K on each side would fun (although the battle would be long).
The Euro GT has an interesting meta-game. Players are frouped into two or more teams (more than two teams if enough people attend). Each team has a captain. The captain decides which army will fight what kind of battle. At the end of the weekend (it is a 2 day event, 5 battles are played), one team will be the winner. This provides some context for every game that is played.
I will do my best to be at the event, whenever it happens. This is great! This is exactly what I want to have happen when I started organizing WM events in Dover. Kudos to Tristan and Matt (and others if I left anyone out) for doing this!
The best advice I can give: Do what you think is best, then tweak after you get feedback after the event.

Ed: the store is in Greenfield, MA, or where interstate 91 and Rt. 2 meet in the western part of the state. April is bad all around for me as I have a couple of conferences to which I'm committed.
2500 points may be do-able. I would imagine that when you get towards 4K the board might get a little crowded.

It would be lovely to be able to make that, but the closest I will be is in the last part of May, somewhere near ST John ? New Foundland...... any chance of a game there ??

Hi, Guys -
Yes, Greenfield Games would be where I am aiming for. For right now, I will keep things pretty basic, plan for two 2500 point games for everyone, maybe write up a few specific scenarios. Sometime in March is looking best, as schedules seem to be tighter for people after that.
I could see trying to do some kind of larger scale multi-player battle at some point, though - maybe a bring-and-battle format where there is a set start and end time, and people can join in and/or recycle onto the battlefield. I am thinking of the first day of the battle of Gettysburg, where a small action kept escalating until everyone was fully engaged...
Lex - PM me with more info about your trip - if you are going to be on this side of the pond, maybe we can get a game in...
