Looks like a human planetary defence force type group against 'space rats'  ???
Will be keeping a close eye on it  ;D

Just goes to show how GW missed a trick by not making some form of Space Hulk a freely available game!

I was getting quite interested in that.... until I got to the price! There are a whole load of Space Hulk inspired games out there.

Really? £35 is too much?
It is a fraction of what Space Hulk retailed at.

The other price is for the game and 2 armies.

More news, I asked Chris over at Mantic for a few more details.
Below is his response.
Got to say I am really looking forward to this :)

'So, some details:

The set contains 10 Corporation Marines and 10 Veer-myn Night-Crawlers (the 8th race, or rats). It also contains a large tile pack, action tokens, and mission counters. The rulebook contains 6 scenarios – 1 training scenario (like a horde mode) and 5 "story" missions.

The game is 2 player, one with the rats and one with the marines, and you take it in turns to play one counter, which can be anything from move and shoot, reaction fire (so shoot when your opponent is making a move), or special abilities like Rush, where 3 rats can swamp a corporation trooper. There's also other counters for ammunition, flares, darkness, hazards etc

It uses a dice mechanic similar to Dwarf Kings Hold, which is our fantasy dungeon crawler. Basically you roll a number of dice equal to your attacks  and your opponent rolls their defence (plus or minus any modifiers). You align the dice in descending order (highest to lowest) and for every attack dice higher than your opponent defence, and then higher than their armour stat, they cause a point of damage.

There's more background and what not to the game including why the rats are after the Corporations cargo and why the Corporation are moving the cargo in the first place.'

I will keep you all posted as I get more details :)

I am not a huge fan of the 'match up dice' mechanic, but generally this sounds very positive.

35 pounds, hmmm.. this doesn't come too cheap but got to keep games like these away from my husband or he'll just go and buy it rightaway! Reminds me of the 'Space Hulk' board game I used to have a s a kid - complete with a mass of ancient, derelict space ships, asteroids and other assorted space debris.
