Was wondering how do you post images from your hard drive?

You have to add them as attachments. It's a lot easier if you use a image host though (imgur, picasa, photobucket, etc.)

I'e tried the add image and the attch button but it doesn't show the image in the preview bit

you need to put the picture on a webbased server.....  eg. google picassa / flickr etc.....

using the Insert Image button to place the proper tags [img ] and [/img ]

Thx... do you have a good image size.... or one that must be used on the fourms?

most services allow you to "pick" various sizes to link too.... find one that shows details but dont cause the post to genereate scrollbars

I generally go with 640 x 480 px, for reference.

You can also surround the image with a link to a bigger size, like so:
