Title: What imperial/chaos ship I can use as Strike Cruiser
Post by: Spellscape on June 07, 2012, 11:07:00 AM
Hi all
I want to convert  imperial/chaos ship so I can use as Strike Cruiser? I don't know sizes of all ships so any advice would be nice.
I'm thinking about something from Chaos/Imperial plastic cruisers like Exorcist/Avenger/Vengeance .

The closest sized ship to a strike cruiser is an Imperial Dauntless, which is metal.

The only plastic models in the entire BFG range are the Imperial Cruisers and Chaos Cruisers, both of which are noticeably longer and bulkier than a strike cruiser. The fact that they are plastic might make them easier to make into a strike cruiser though.

The Exorcist/Avenger/Vengeance kit is metal and closer to a battle barge in size.

Thank you

I'm also thinking on 2nd Battle barge so maybe for "herecy type" Exorcist/Avenger/Vengeance would be fine.

Can someone post photos of cruisers and Strike cruisers (and if possible battle barge) for size comparison?

Don't forget that you can take these as a venerable battle barge in your Marine fleets! :)

Yep - that's why I'm looking for more "herecy/early imperial" looking Strike Cruiser and Barge  ;)

Well always remember that a battle barge / strike cruiser is what it does not what it is. With that in mind you have huge freedom to proxy, kit bash, and repurpose anything you want pretty much. The current Compendium, for instance , has a dauntless retooled for marines in one of the pictures. Another thing you can do is cut down the size of a traitor cruiser to make it a light cruiser chassis by removing the first weapon bay section and pining the prow back on. This would be rather apropos for a 1st or 2nd founding chapter fleet which could in all likelihood have old vessels like this still.

Here's a WIP of a schismatic class lt cruiser I have on the work bench

I also thought about chaos cruisers.
What is Compendium and where to find it?

Cheapest way is to chop short plastic cruiser from the imperial or chaos line
