I have been playing some games recently with the 2010 Wolfpack list, and I have found it exceedingly difficult to win with the pitiful number of reliable launch bays they can field. Similarly, the rogue trader fleet has barely any launch access either, and while it may go against the fluff for Wolfpacks or Rogue Traders to sport carriers, attack craft are such a major part of the metagame that the lists become practically unplayable against balanced lists from any of the major races.
While they are obviously meant to be gimmicky campaign races rather than legitimate fleets, is there any realistic way to compensate for the crushing lack of launch bays and create at least a semi-viable list?

Yes. Spend 50% more on your fleet than your opponent.

Ha! Lol... IF escort carriers could reload ordinance then yes, but they cant. *wolf pack escort carriers have the worst leadership of any ship in the game (correct me if im wrong) base ld -1 for being pirates -1 for being a transport -1 for re-load ordinance gives them a re-load leadership between 3! and 6. Standard rogue trader fleets are at 4-7, the second worst...

Take the Space Marine Strike Cruiser as leading vessel.
Add Eldar Nightshades for deadly torpedoes.

Wolfpacks and RT's aren't really designed for anything but the convoy scenario. Outside of this, both lists are pretty worthless. Unless you and your opponent agree to not field any carriers, then a 1500pt fleet battle becomes pretty interesting to say the least.

You should look at BFG:R rogue trader list, if your opponents are feeling are feeling generous they may allow you to use it :D It's actually good. Doesn't solve your wolfpack problem, although you could beg for some kind of modification that allows you to field less shitty carriers, perhaps through at least normal leadership...
