That looks like it was a fantastic battle.

Do you have any idea on how many points the Orcs lost?

If playing the scenario again, would you change the points at all? I know Orcs just won on the 6th, however they did have some bad luck with some orders.

If they were able to move up quicker, it may have been over before that. Thoughts?

It's great seeing such a battle. I may try this scenario with my group.

Well done. ;)

Fabulous!  I was rooting for the Empire there, but it looks like they only just got wiped out! =D

Thanks, that is a little bit tricky scenario so if you are going to test it you and your oppenent have to bear in mind the expierence will not be as a regular WM battle.

I played orks and I think I have a very succesful and good luck with the dice. In 6 turns only one turn (the 3rd) the army refuse to do what I wanted... for a orc player that is very lucky.

The scenario depends a lot on two randomize events:

- Giving advantage for ork player: the number of turns, we threw a dice and have 1, so 6 turn long battle. That make the things though for the orks

- The command rolls: If the ork player start failing orders, the victory should be for Empire.

We play it as Rourke drift, so ork army should be as zulus, infantry mass. I refuse to take monster, artillery and heavey cav and maximize infantry to make sense to the scenario. Playing this with boar riders or dwarves or high elves (command 10) is not good, neither fun.

Empire player, has to be prepared to not make to much movement neither command rolls, so a rooky player or someone not very interested in how the rules worked or the type of player eager to win will not enjoy the scenario (I guess).

If you play it, please share your experience and opinions :) and pics !

Be prepared to find out that the scnario could be quite hard for bot sides.

Our experience was a lot of excited. In the end of the ork phase in the 4th turn we though that the orks couldnot made it... but..... the battel was really really interesting.

Maybe Edmund (empire player) could give us his point of view of the scenario design and expirience defending the position.

I really enjoyed playing it.

After playing "Raid at the Oracle" (WMMag 1) and " The battle of Schron Grabbern" (WMMag 10), I felt like in that scenarios Empire had a lot of points, a lot of terrain and a lot of advantage.

When the idea of playing Rorke's Drift (ehm.. I mean.. Orc's Drift. hehehe ;) ) arouse, we  wanted to put things thougher for the Empire, as in the historical battle counterpart.

For me points are ok (1000 points more for the attacker it's quite a lot to crush the defenders),  and here the key was to get a number of turns balanced. We tried the standard game (6-8 turns) and I think it can work. You have to move an O&G army (not easy), and once  reached the Imperial Barricades, kill the 9 units before you run out of time!! In the battle the O&G player played very well.

The Imperial player can not do much (I had an retreat plan to a second line, but it never happened). Also I wanted to have a Wizard doing "guerrilla" tactics against the Orcs, but I prefered to spend those points in another unit more instead. But this situation is what a player can expect playing with the British in Rorke's Drift, so not a problem at all.

Lists were as usual (no limitation in units to be bought), but both decided freely to play similar to the original battle (no Imperial cavalry, no boar-riders, etc)

If you play the scenario, please give us feedback!! Over all of the number of turns you played.

I felt the tension of Orc's Drift situation indeed... green tide everywhere, ferocious and wild!!! :)
