I've played with paper ordinance and blast markers, and it's a pain. Can anyone recommend a good source of acrylic - or other materials - counters? Thanks.

For ordnance use warhamer fantasy little bases. For blas markers I do my own in a material simlar to plasticard. Is compresed PVC eith 3mm wide.
If you have paypal you can purchaise some blast markers counter in ebay, they look very nice.

The latter are closer to the right shape. Are the torpedo markers the right size?
