Title: Future Epic Support
Post by: nealhunt on April 22, 2009, 06:31:54 PM
For those that do not follow Epicomms, a long-term and enterprising contributor, Evil and Chaos (aka Chaos and Evil, aka Ben Skinner), put together a proposal for Forge World to produce Tyranid and Necron lines similar to their Tau, and provided sets of greens for the majority of both lines.  Their response was that they are not interested at this time (Boo!  Hiss! >:()but they encouraged him to continue sending proposals as they might be in the future (I hope, I hope...  :-\).

Details and some of the proposal material with pics of the oh-so-sweet models are available at Epicomms:  http://www.tacticalwargames.net/forums/index.cgi?act=ST;f=7;t=15309 (http://www.tacticalwargames.net/forums/index.cgi?act=ST;f=7;t=15309)

I would start a Tyranid army with these mini's, just to support the epic range.

I would like new miniatures (or at a minimum a rerelease of the old ones) for chaos, just having the infantry for such an important army isnt very good.

adding to my mini wishlist, a reprint of the rulebook with the updated rules and stats please  ;D

Has he thought of submitting them to an alternative manufacturer?
I know eureka miniatures runs a scheme of this nature.
I also came across another site that allowed submissions (trollsforge??) but I cannot remember the link  :-[

That would be illegal, unfortunately Forgeworld's semi-interest is the only way we'll be able to see these minis in full production.

Only if IP was infringed?
SO don't call them tyranids call the 'space bugs' sorted.
Lots of alternative manufacturers do this.

I respect you for watching GW's back in regards copyright theft. I hope you continue to do so even if they go to the wall.

But do you want to know what is truly criminal?
The way they have dropped all support for SG and rely on the fan bases to develop the games further, then bleat on about IP protection! ???

I believe that (unfortunately) the actual miniatures might still be cause for a lawsuit if the resemblance was too close.

Remember what happened to FASA (though I am unsure if they could've kept making the miniatures or not).

I would so totally buy some of these even if it wouldn't be FW who sells them.
