Title: An Introduction and A Fleet Concept
Post by: Eetion on February 07, 2013, 09:13:58 PM
Hello All...

Firstly since I cant see any obvious Introductions area, all me to introduce myself.

I am Eetion, I have been into 40k sincebetter part of 17 years, although due to the birth of my spawn, 40k, painting and modelling have been on the back burner in my life. So I have taken the decision to sell of my 40k, and concentrate on BFG.

And what brings me here....

Well 3 things really,

1) Im new to Chaos and im hoping pick up a trick or two.
2) Im an admin on New Badab, a Chaos 40k forum and Im looking to add a Chaos BFG component,
3) Im also in the process of making a online 40k campaign called the Perseus Crisis. Im hoping to add in a BFG component where the BFG games impact on the war. Id hoped to pitch ideas to you all and for suggestions in how best to do it.

Now thats over with... My fleet pitch

i have aquired a 2nd hand fleet, It all seems prretty solid with gunboats, Hades, Couple of Murders, Carnage, slaughter, 1 Devestation and  3 of each escort.

So im thinking of adding a Desolator and Repulsive and go for the throat of enemy fleets, a small fighter screen, while the escorts target ordnance.

I know its not typical approac for the Chaos fleet, but just wondered what you all thought.

Theres nothing wrong with a head on approach you just have to realize that your going to be most in danger of damage when closing so your going to want to find the right spot to swing your broadsides to bear instead of crashing right in like an Imperial fleet. You should probably add some more attack craft carriers tho, I tend to shoot for a minimum of 4 launch bays/1k points on average.

Yeah chaos have a big advantage over imperials in terms of cheap AC. A head on fleet can really benefit from a pair of devastation cruisers or a styx heavy cruiser, both of which deliver lots of AC. Murder's are also better than slaughter in a head on engagement, due to being able to really hammer forth some combined lance fire to soften up targets on the way, particularly things like heavy torpedo vessels and nova cannon cruisers. The slaughter is also a great choice, since it packs a truly ridiculous amount of firepower onto a very fast frame.

Chaos Battleships are a bit the opposite of IN: IN tends to have cruisers based around the battleship whereas Chaos tends to pick a battleship based on its cruisers.

Also, welcome to the community, bucko! Glad to have another admiral on deck ;D ;)

Lord Reaver it is then ;D

Got used to that term during our Rogue Trader campaign, but since we are doing Black Crusade now it should not be too hard to remember.
