Was watching this and other Epic Eldar items.
4 Wave Serpents for £30? That's utterly bonkers.
-
I think what you'll see is a burst of speculative buying from GW by people who immediately try to flip it over onto eBay. Followed by a crash for minis of limited interest. Eventually, the prices will come back and plateau. If they're high enough, you'll see the occasional recasts mixed in. Much like we see for other in-demand minis like HE Swordmasters, dragon princes, Juan Diaz steeds of slaanesh, etc.
Of course, the speculators might well end up sitting on a load of metal. I see loads of HE and UD warmaster minis sitting on ebay all the time looking for a home. Either they ask for too much and don't sell, or have to unload below retail price. Or they're reduced to shenanigans like making false claims that their minis are discontinued. I suppose now that they are discontinued, the price on widely available stuff like that will go up.
The key unknown is how the other manufacturers will react. If someone like a Eureka jumps in and fills the niches that GW has dominated, then the rare/OOP GW minis will still be premium items. If Warmaster and 10mm (not the same thing, obviously) both die out, then the prices will drop as people give up and sell their collections.

Forgeworld Tau for BFG is going for 4x roughly. I was on yesterday and one battleship was selling for £77. Dollars ::) for some reason it keeps changing the icon to pounds :/.
-
It's even more crazy when you consider how awful those Wave Serpent sculpts are. At least the originals from second edition look good. I can't believe that anyone would pay that much for those things.
-
On Ebay UK alone, about £3000 has been spent on BFG auctions in the past 7 days. There are some truly insane bids going in as well as some bargain 'buy it now' which I've regrettably missed out on.
-
I was one of the people who pushed the bid up that high, and the reason- A pack of 2 of those wave serpents direct from GW here are $33 AU. That's over 21 pounds, and that's after the Aussie dollar has been dropping in price for a week.
So I consider 4 of them for that price a decent bargain :(
-
Someone scored...
BFG is going absolutely nuts! Seems to be worst in the UK.
BFG Apocalypse Battleship: £129.89/ US $196.64
http://www.ebay.com/itm/171044271620?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
On the other hand, yesterday on eBay I picked up shrink wrapped gang box boxes of Orlocks and Goliaths for $22 each and an Escher gang box for $33
-
New edition revenant titans went for £50. =-<
I've got a spare pair of FW warhounds at least - the thing is that I just want to swap, not swell and inflate the market. There are some obvious scalpers on ebay at the minute, people suddenly selling the kind of stock FW was running down last month.
-
the most interesting thing is to see how people sell things on ebay labeled as "OOP! RARE!", but which still are available the regular way.
example: vengeance grand cruiser. is already above normal price on ebay, and i ordered one on the GW website, and it was sent yesterday, no problems.
-

Well, very, very soon now they'll be right.
-
It's a touch frustrating, on this side of the pond, to see BFG selling on ebay.com for pretty reasonable prices without the option of international shipping, compared to the crazy amounts stuff is going for in the UK.
-
Some of the Epic stuff seems to be going for stupid amounts - but I just won 4 crossbow units and 1 pistolier unit for Warmaster Empire for only £20 or so!
=-X
-
A couple of units of Bretonnian Knights Errant both went for more than £125 each recently!!!!
Dave
-
Yeah, ebay's a bit strange at the moment. I've just picked up a dwarf character pack, a flame cannon and a unit each of warriors, thunderers, rangers and slayers for less than £20! Result!
-
Positives: Getting a ramilies, battlebarge and repulsives for not-crazy prices from a forum.
Negatives: $120 of eldar ships unsent after two weeks, with the seller messing me around (5 missed shipping promises).
-
OK, 4 Gladius going for over £100 :o...and still 5 days to go!
-
OK, 4 Gladius going for over £100 :o...and still 5 days to go!
holy s**t.
:o
makes me DAMN glad that i was quick enough to grab 6 of 'em while they were still available from FW :o
-
lol, that's ridiculous.
-

I didn't and had no intention of getting an SM fleet. Then two battlebarges and 3 strike cruisers fell into my lap so now I'm torn on whether to do a 4th GW fleet (Imperial, Chaos, Eldar. Will do firestorm for necrons, bitz conversions for orks, dark eldar and nids). I'm certainly not going to pay those prices (and am seriously baffled at anyone spending that much money on them, it's mindboggling what some of the stuff is going for!

I was willing to throw £25 at this as otherwise I'd have to import it from NZ, but clearly that wasn't enough. :-X

4 sg valkyries and 4 vultures for £100 :O
-
Scythe-class Harvest ships going for £27 a piece...
-
Storm of Chaos blister just got divided up for sale. Tyrion / Teclis etc. went for £15/£18 each, with the exception of the Bret King Lionheart who went for £30 or something crazy.
-
Conversely, Mint New In Blister Epic Eldar just went for very little this morning and I missed them cos I was at work. >:-((
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330956105623?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Only £2 for this old OOP blister with the cool falcon with wings turret.
Missed out getting some night spinners which is what I needed.
-
That said, 11 chaos cruisers for £53 including postage? Yes please. 6 of them are still in original twin packs with all parts and completely unbuilt. Ka-ching!
-
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200945634225?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1426.l2649
Watching this one as I want Kislev but think it's going to go beyond the 25E each price I think is reasonable.
-
one seller who has pissed me off seriously is blackwater's miniatures (username "blackwater_hollow").
they bought a crapload of ships from GW just to sell them for the double, triple, or whatevermultiple price than it was before. >:(
examples:
-dauntlesses for 75 bucks.
-emperor for 155 bucks.
-a SINGLE falchion class escort for 35 bucks (wtf.)
-single (!) imperial plastic cruiser for 55 bucks.
-FW GK strike cruiser for 125 bucks. (holy shit. this is the most ridiculous :o )
plain moneymaking off of other peoples misfortune.
people like that guy make me be sad that i cant punch people through the screen.
i am usually a very calm person, but this guy really, really makes me want to punch him in the face.
-
Yes FM, I noticed exactly the same with some WM and some Epic blisters.
A bunch of Eldar Super Heavies were dumped and of course went for like £34 each or something.
Does make me angry.
Also the same with some Forge World stuff - bunch of Epic flyers all appearing overnight at silly prices.

Yeah, weirdly the crossbowmen and dark riders went for much less, £14 each or so... The characters, £30 each?

Someone shamelessly throwing up some rush-bought Eldar for a profit.

Why are people bidding on this?
Can't they use their initiative to google "40mm by 20mm bases"?
-
Not to mention how ridiculously easy it is to cut upsome plasticard...
-
What's that old saying? Oh yes. There's one born every minute ::) ::) ::)
-
If any BFG folks want a good laugh, take a look at this and read the description:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=111162537616&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:1120
I should also add that when it was listed previously, the starting bid was £10... Needless to say it didn't sell.
-
Yeah that's a little bonkers.
Some Empire stuff went at between £5 and £10 each.
I won recently:
Chaos Knights £8.50
Chaos Mounted Marauders £5
Chaos Dragon Ogres £5
Trolls £6.70
Empire Skirmishers £6.23
More than I would have paid before The Crash but I felt still not madness. I only want one unit of Trolls as I like the models! Missed out on Empire Handgunners which I really want but have none of. :-X
-
Stormwind, how many handgunners nets do you need?
-
Ah, I was hoping just to have 2 for a 2000/3000 point army - but it really is on the backburner now. Maybe I should update my trade post?

Back on the silly scale with prices:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3x-Battlefleet-Gothic-Chaos-Cruisers-/281162015616?pt=UK_Toys_Wargames_RL&hash=item41768fe380
Three gothic cruisers sitting at £41. I don't even.
Needless to say, I am very happy with the 10 cruisers I picked up at £20 for the lot.
Timing is everything, it seems?
-
Well, as I say, things do go at reasonable prices still - but they were things that were relatively common before. Plastic cruisers going for that price is bonkers.
-

This goes even more crazy than those before.... it's almost more than usual long time rare WM stuff such as phoenix guard. Maybe someone is building the most expensive executioner unit?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151118308280?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
-
Thing is some of use have a large imperial fleet, a small ork and chaos fleet and no eldar that wants to be rectified as soon as possible which means paying more then normal
For example I have 7 chaos cruisers 9 escorts but no battleships :'(
Also I have an emperor but no retribution and I've always wanted one and I haven't seen one go or less then £30 recently :'(
-
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221287365338?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
£15 for dwarf warriors in blister...
u wot m8?
-
It's crazy that a single common blister costs that much when today I managed toget a unit of elite handgunners, knights of the blazing sun, an extra unit of knights and handgunners, a character pack, three strips of Grail knights, 3 swordmasters and 3 kislev winged lancers all for £18.
And Tuesday I got 2 units of HE spearmen and 2 units of skeletons for £8.
Seems like people miss the gems and advertise the more common items for crazy prices.
-
I was looking at that auction, Scaley, I didn't recognise the Knights of the Blazing Sun - I assumed it would go for loads of money and stopped watching it. :-X
When people put up photos of grab bags like that, sometimes we're not sure what condition they're in and we feel leary of them. When we see something in blister nicely laid out, we assume that it's going to be in perfect condition.
-
Well I just picked up a unit of Dwarf cannons and a unit of Dwarf FlameCannons for a total of a tenner, so I aint complaining!
Dave
-
Dave, why did you want cannons? I thought you were finished with Dwarves? :-X
Yeah I really wanted that Flame Cannon but missed the auction.
-
I didn't notice they were knights of the blazing sun until after id won as I was mainly after the elite handgunners and more knights would have rounded off my army, but when I examined the front unit a lot closer you can see the difference in the two units of knights.
-
Well I'm still desperate for a BFG Chaos Battleship, I keep missing them :p
FYI I'm willing to pay £25-£30 for one ;)
-

Might need to look a little higher; I managed to get mine pretty low and even then it was at and above the £30 end of the scale... I might be willing to part with the terminus est though... (I do kinda have 6 battleships now)
-
Stormwind. Yeah, you're right, I did originally get rid of my Dwarf stuff but I maanged to pick up 4 units of mint Hammerers and 8 units of warriors, all pretty cheap so I thought "what the heck" - I'm in the market for some more dwarf cannons now!!!
:)

Damnit those BFG proxies are gorgeous!
-
just a warning about one of the sellers on e-bay called sneakystavern or sneakysroleplaytavern (its one of them or something like that)
it seems he's one of the people whose trying to make as much as he can from the end of specialist games, his product descritions don't match the product and the photos are taken so as to hide any or most of the damage
i just got some chaos cruisers from him and i'm not impressed with the amounts of damage, there aren't even any flying stands
-
Thanks for the heads up, Connahr, does he mostly have BFG?
-
some BFG, some other specialist games stuff, the vast majority seems to be 40K stuff
nearly all of it is second hand but is listed as new, unused, unopened and undamaged
-

Report him and leave severely negative feedback. Item significantly not as described springs to mind.
-
yeah that's probably going to run him afoul of the buyer protection. selling something that isn't new (which also means undamaged and in box/container and must be complete) is a big no-no. If they're selling it as used and note something along the lines of "everything pictured" then it's kosher.
-
well i le-mailed him saying that there was more damage than listed and that his description was innacurate, haven't heard back yet
only thing is that if i open a case about it, i have to return the ships, which i don't want to do
-
You don't have to return the ships you can just ask for a cash compensation. If you pad $25 bucks you can just say you want $10 back on the ticket. Ebay will take your request into account when they look at your ticket if it goes that far. And you can always deny the return and just keep the item.

Does anyone know who 'Gusman' is on eBay?
I've received stuff from him before and been happy with it, but this lot makes me suspicious- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Warmaster-Casualty-Marker-Lot-OOP-Includes-the-rare-A-Artillery-Games-Workshop-/271314510560?pt=Games_US&hash=item3f2b9ae2e0 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Warmaster-Casualty-Marker-Lot-OOP-Includes-the-rare-A-Artillery-Games-Workshop-/271314510560?pt=Games_US&hash=item3f2b9ae2e0)
It's identical to a lot he sold earlier and received good feedback for (so it wasn't a case of the buyer breaking the deal)- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Warmaster-Casualty-Marker-Lot-OOP-Includes-rare-A-Artillery-Games-Workshop-/271292516119 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Warmaster-Casualty-Marker-Lot-OOP-Includes-rare-A-Artillery-Games-Workshop-/271292516119)
I'd like to get the 'A' marker, but whether original or recast I still suspect this auction will go way over my head.
As an additional oddity- Baseball, phone, syringe, bucket? and warmaster all in the one auction! -http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/boys-TOYS-LOT-T-BALL-THOMAS-WARMASTER-NEW-METAL-PIECES-NEW-PARENTS-PHONE-BALLOON-/230942675887?pt=Outdoor_Toys_Structures_US&hash=item35c54193af (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/boys-TOYS-LOT-T-BALL-THOMAS-WARMASTER-NEW-METAL-PIECES-NEW-PARENTS-PHONE-BALLOON-/230942675887?pt=Outdoor_Toys_Structures_US&hash=item35c54193af)

And just when I was admiring the plastics from the point of view of 10mm Tolkien. =-<

Whaaaaaaaaaat?
Absolutely bonkers. I picked up 4 units of Kislev at less than £20 a blister just the other day - and these ones went for more than twice that despite being available for the past 10 years. :-X
-
No single Warmaster unit will ever be worth that much to me.
-
Geez...51 pounds for a unit of Clod one knights.. that goes way beyond my wildest dreams...
-
Dark Elves army at more than 600$ few days ago ::)
DE blisters going for more than 40GBP few hours ago...
-
Welp, I had actually wanted to start a DE army but missed the bus on that one.
Just ordered 4 units of Dark Riders from GW. One of the handful of units left on the website. =-/
-
Build them with High Elves in a suitably dark scheme? A Nagarythe army from the days of yore.
-
You know that actually was something like my plan.
A year ago when I realised how flimsy High Elf spears were - I planned on buying DE spearmen as they are much tougher, and painting them like swordsmasters. =-P
-
And use the same army for two lists? That's a good way to fight the Ebay pricing. :)
The lists are quite similar to be honest, they could easily have been the same list with options for dark or high elven armies just like the Peloponnesian lists in Warmaster Ancient Armies e.g. That being said I quite prefer the Dark Elf list myself in spite of Harpies vs Eagles, no 3+ shooting and no re-rolled spells. I'll take Cold Ones, double shooting light cavalry and the Dominion spell any day over that.
-
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301032576267?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
Really want to bid on this but he packaging and import cost alone to the UK is $150 which is... a considerable issue. =-<
-
That was actually a rather reasonable ending price I'd say. Less than what it would have cost to order it from GW last Spring at least.
-
Yeah, I calculated it at about 52 blister packs, or £450 worth if bought new from GW.
But that import charge stuff really kicked out of my reach. ;.;
-
Unfortunately reasonable and within reach are sometimes two different things.
-
Unfortunately reasonable and within reach are sometimes two different things.
That is exactly the point. I don't have that sum to put in figs at this period of the year. Xmas is too costy.
But in a point of view of a blister price, yes, it was a good bargain. Id the winner take time to relist everything, he will re sell everything for three time this price easily.
-

Shameless scalping. These are still available from the GW website for £8.70 each. That's why I went and bought 4, because I knew someone would come and take the piss by putting them up at this price in a month or two.
-
Dwarf Zeppelin and Airship went for a smaller price than i thought they would. Just to note.
By the way, does someone have rules for them ?
-
I think one of the dwarf army lists has an option to mount a character in a zeppelin. The character then can't issue orders, but gives a bonus to nearby artillery (as he's a 'spotter'). Other than that the only rules I've heard of are to use them as proxy gyrocopters.

Frick, they look a lot like bad recasts. Even the official forgeworld models didn't have that much flash (compared to top notch castings like those from wintermans or mangozac).
Good people, and fans who want to help fans, sell items for normal prizes.
Bad people, and non-fans, sell for such ridiculous prizes.

I should consider if I "need" them for my armies then........ (as in NOT needing them and hocking them off)

Ha ha, no, he's teasing, those sorcerors are really rare ones that were released separately in a blister together.
The Harpies however I HAVE seen go for approaching £20 as they are considered Dark Elf units rather than Chaos units now.

Wow. Those sorcerors are rare, but that's more than I've ever seen them go for before (by almost double).

Ogres went for £11 and £16 lately. It is weird how certain "common" blisters go for cheap and others leap up.
-
It's simply how many of them are round. Most of the time the later armies were avilable only via direct order and were also considered being worse sculpts (e.g. VC, DE). When they were avilable, only few people bought them. That's why they are now rarely seen on eBay and why the prices go so high IMO ...
-
I agree. The rare ones seem to be VC, Araby, Skaven and Daemons so this backs up your theory.

-
At some point I must tot up a list of the original GW stuff I've got stashed in the loft. Having had a quick look on ebay, I must have hundreds of pounds worth of gear up there! If ever times get hard...
I reckon by selling no more than 4 or 5 GW units, I'd raise enough cash to buy a whole army of proxy figures from other manufacturers!
Is it worth putting together a listing on here of the various units and how much they go for both unpainted and painted? Is there much of a difference in price between the two conditions? Maybe a sub-forum in each Specialist Game forum?
-
Honestly I'm not interested in tracking non-rare units. Marell Le Fou did some research on it and keeps spreadsheets of rare unit prices.
I have been looking for Warmaster every day in passing on eBay for 2 years so I can say with authority that the blisters have gone up in price, even for common armies, but it's still very variable.
The link I posted to was £26, but an IDENTICAL blister from the same seller ending at the same time went for only £11 or so.
People who are inefficent in their buying and searching habbits on eBay are the ones who make silly bids. =-P
-
Marell Le Fou did some research on it and keeps spreadsheets of rare unit prices.
I still work on them and keep them available for anyone asking for a price or any information i have.
I have been looking for Warmaster every day in passing on eBay for 2 years so I can say with authority that the blisters have gone up in price, even for common armies, but it's still very variable.
I do the same and i have the same opinion.
On old OOP stuff, prices stayed approx unchanged, with a serious diminution on very rare stuff. Hammerers went for more than 370$ for one unit two years ago, and several time more than 200$. Today, they sell for 70-80. Same for Savage orcs, for example.
On recently OOP stuff, prices are gone mad. Dark Elves, Skavens, Brets and Lizardmen are going for crazy prices. Around 60-70$ per unit, NIB or not. Daemons where going on the same direction but they are more frequently seen on ebay, so i think their price is a little bit under the other four armies i have mentionned. Araby and Vampire Counts stuff we have not seen for weeks now (or very few units only), and the market is so versatile that i do not know for what they would go today. But i think it would be the same : prices around 70$ per blister.
I explain that this way : oldies interest collectors, while recent stuff interest collectors and players. More interested people, so prices go up.
That is why you can buy Dark-Elves Corsairs for a lower price than Witches or Cold-One Riders...
One year ago, when GW stopped SG, I thought prices would not reach what they are today, or that prices would go up, but only for a small time. But i was wrong. It's something pleasant, in a certain way, that WM reach such a post-mortem interest, but it's sad in the same time for it is too late to keep it alive.
Anyway, compared to 28mm prices, we are far far over classical prices... Mordheim prices do the same, staying high.
The day GW ceased SG, people rushed to buy everything available, even at high price, and it's still the case today.
As Stormwind says, even former common units go for crazy prices. Orcs and Gobs mainly. Undead, Empire, High-Elves and Dwarves remain lower. Chaos is between the two it seems. But it can change very quickly.
I try to keep tracks of who buy what, and i frequently see the same winners names again and again. I mean for any armies. So it would significate collectors still hold the top of the won items ? Or heavy players ? Hard to be sure. The only thing i'm sure of is that there are people making "now rare" armies and they are ready to pay a very very high price for them :)
The rule remain that with patience, you can have everything at low price... But it's harder than it was.
-
Thanks for the information.
-
I must repeat that I saw a perfectly good, painted Elite Empire Handgunners unit go for about £10 a few weeks ago. Just think about that!
-
The prices are highly dependent on the postage option. Lots of WM stuff is UK only and that makes huge difference in the final price.
-
Urgh... Nothing annoys me more than seeing things I've been after for a while come up on eBay, only to find the seller refuses to post to my country. It's frustrating when they say, 'no, I won't post to your country because the postage cost is too high', but I'm the one who actually pays the postage cost...
I have seen so many auctions go for cheap prices because of that. People should always give the option for international postage, even at silly prices, and let the bidders decide.
-
I agree. However since I'm sellng out of Sweden I have realised that people have started giving me low ratings on postage costs when I'm in fact most often discounting up to ten percent of the actual postage cost. That in combination with people being afraid of buyers claiming not having received the goods is probably the most common reason sellers won't list for an overseas client.
-
Easy solution - only offer 'signed for' or 'registered post' only. It puts in a level of surety that helps protect buyer and seller alike.
I often ask the seller if the would consider international postage and more often than not, they usually allow me to bid.
-
Same opinion. When i see seller do not propose to ship outside their country, i ask if it's possible and they say ok most of the time.
When they don't want, i ask i they could allow me to bid with a delivery adress to a friend in the country. People from various forums always welcome this type of service. I have found a person in the US and the UK who are even ready to bid for me and ship to me the stuff. The simplest is then to say what price i'm ready to put, he bids, we wait the end of the transaction and i paypal him if i won. Then, he pays the sellers. And then ship the stuff to me.
I must repeat that I saw a perfectly good, painted Elite Empire Handgunners unit go for about £10 a few weeks ago. Just think about that!
They are not very thought after. Mainly because few months ago, a seller proposed something like 10 blisters for 25$ if i remember well. Several persons bought one or two. Someone took the rest. And they will probably reappear slowly on the market.
-
@Geep- if you want somebody in UK to bid for you, i would be more than happy to help a fellow warmaster fan :)
-
Much appreciated Eastern Barbarian. I would similarly be willing to act as a go between with Australian sellers. Fortunately most people are ok with overseas posting if asked.
-
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Battlefleet-Gothic-Boxset-Warhammer-/121270888349
HAHAHAHAHAHA - No.
-
I agree with the 'No', but I can see why someone would ask that price. New BFG box stuff (even if the box is damaged) must be almost unheard of now.
-
In a reverse case of caveat empor...
I bid £5 each on what seemed to be single blisters of Chaos Marauders and Chaos Warriors.
The seller had only posted a picture of a single blister as most Warmaster auctions are. When I recieved the package it was super heavy and had SIX blisters in, 3 of Marauders 3 of Warriors.
The seller had stated in the description that each auction was for multiple blisters. I only bid £8 on Chaos Knights when that auction was for FIVE blisters. Hrrrrngh. Oh well.
-

Sorry for the late response, I've been away for a week. Signed for is an excellent option that I often upgrade to without charging the clients extra if they bought something expensive as I like to keep my money then. However, listing at the signed for rate will likely only make my postage ratings drop.

I agree, but this item is more likely to go to someone interested in collecting over gaming- so the fact it is the Warmaster castle makes it high value.

I believe that would be Primarch (http://www.taccmd.tacticalwargames.net/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=27022).
If you are unaware of the Primarchload, I would suggest setting aside a few hours and checking out this thread: http://www.tacticalwargames.net/taccmd/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=25466
The man has what must be the largest collection of Epic models in the world (I am not exaggerating). He has something like 12 Imperator Titans.
-
Wow- I'd really like to get a few more Eldar Super Heavies- especially another Cobra- guess that won't be happening.
As for Primarch... it's incredibly an impressive collection, but there's always that point when you start to question how much of it you'll ever get to assemble/paint/play with. I'm glad my lead mountain isn't yet that overwhelming.

Dwarves from Poland are commanding some serious prices , on ebay .

Yeah, once they go above £10 I just can't justify bidding on common units like that. =-/

Yeah, puzzles me why Tomb King Blisters are going for upwards of £20 a blister, in large numbers as they are very common on e bay?
I have 6 blisters of skeleton spearmen mint, still in blisters if people want to pay me £26 a pack!!! :)
Dave

Give ya £2.60 per pack? ;D
£26 for 30 points. Seriously? Almost enough to tempt the Evil Empire to get back into it again!

So, what's the consensus on what it will eventually go for? £500? £400?
Dave
It keeps dropping, £350 now:

A small point on Warmaster stuff.
Some items may go for a high price but globaly i have noted a serious down of old OOL stuff (i mean former alternate units). Some are still going for a high price but they are (very) rare. Very few of them are valuated around 100$, when it had became a classical reference of price two years ago.
It may be because the game is not supported anymore and collectors have turned their head from Warmaster range.
Or it could be too that most warmaster collectors have decided that playing was more important than alt units, and they have focused on the core units (and are running for skaven, dark elves, daemons etc).
I have noted too that Bretonnian stuff is selling again for a "correct" price, around 20$ per unit (more or less) those last weeks. Only three months ago, nothing could be find under 30-40 or more.
Lizardmen seem to go for prices around 30-35$. At the end of last year (oct), they where going for more expensive prices.
Daemons are between 25-30$. Hordes at frequently more than that. Especially Khorne. This army is more or less stable. Maybe a little less expensive than few months ago.
Dark elves are very expensive, nearly 40$ per blister for months now.
Skaven and Araby go for the highest price i think. Frequently over 50$. Rat Ogres and Jezzail are less expensive.
-
True , I noted that savage orcs boars , orcs and forest goblins just left ebay at around £ 26 .
A lot lower than expected .
Stuart
-
They would have sold for more but I forgot about bidding on the savage orcs.... :(
-
3 Skaven blisters in the UK last week went for between £10 and £15 each so that was a significant downturn in price.
-
Most of us established gamers have most of what we "need" by now I guess and don't feel the need to be 'gouged' by silly prices methinks. There are also less and less new gamers I'm guessing as the game is no longer supported by GW.
I expect prices to slowly drop and drop over the coming years..... More for us to hoover up at cheap prices! :)
Dave
-
3 Skaven blisters in the UK last week went for between £10 and £15 each so that was a significant downturn in price.
Yes, but they where mainly Jezzail and Ogres, and those blisters have always been cheaper than the rest.
I expect prices to slowly drop and drop over the coming years
Same opinion. Prices will drop i think. And quantity of players, halas :(
I think the old OOP range will be the first to lose it's importance. Collectors will be interested in other ranges, probably.
I'm unsure what it mean for us. On one hand, the val of our figs will drop. On the other hand, we will be able to play High-Elves with 6 Swordmasters unit, 4 Phenix guard and every cavalry unit Prince Dragons :)
-
Oh, I hope so. Never once had prince dragons. :'(

I hope what Marell says proves to be true because I have been looking for a dragon princes unit for years...

A steal at twice the price! =D
-
Twice ? I would not even buy them at this price... They are still the easiest army to collect.
-
That's the joke! x-D
This is a thread of overpriced things and that seller has lots of similarly overpriced things.
There's a paltry bunch of Bretonnians, barely 2 and a half units, going for £120 as well.
-
Warmaster Vampire Counts stuff went for 70-100$ per blister few hours ago. They where more at 50-60 last time we saw them.
-
Two Bretonnian command units went for only £14 today. A pegasus hero and a command blister. I couldn't believe that I'd missed it. Slightly cheaper than it would have costed from GW. All because it was mislabelled as an Empire command group.
On the other hand, £45 for a single blister of Epic scouts:

Hello gents
Very interesting reading on this thread - I'm new to this forum but my Specialist Games collections are fairly respectable in size and scope and I've been playing some years now.
In years past I'd seize every opportunity to jump on the GW hate/flame bandwagon - today I reason it's simply not an issue for me as I don't buy GW products nor - since they dropped Specialist Games - even play the company's games. So what's there for me to argue over?
Ebay has been pulling some quite questionable stunts (like their Global Shipping Program, a scam that I know would be illegal at least here in Australia but seems to be operating quite well in the US for some unknown reason...) so my solution is two-fold
1. Bartertown and other trade/sell forums can still render some rare gems at reasonable prices. I avoid FleaBay like the plague. To me it's like Target - I go there to buy my socks and jocks, but if I want a suit or a pair of runners I go to a clothing or shoe store
2. Proxy the heck out of anything that can be even remotely proxied. There are so many talented artists, innovative entrepreneurs, dedicated game designers in the market these days that GW is old news to me. They're the "have beens" of the wargaming world. Sure some of their figures are great, if I can get a GW original army all the better - but if I can't Eureka, Pendraken, Kallistra, Copplestone Castings and others will proxy just fine for my fantasy needs. Don't even get me started on the amazing 10mm ranges available for historicals!
Dark Realm, GZG, Exodus Wars, Brigade Models, GHQ/H&R with a little imagination, green stuff and superglue can all be made into very appropriate Specialist Games units. And as GW has turned its back on us, the SG community anyway, even killing off my beloved 1/72 WAB :-[ I feel absolutely zero allegiance to them.
They may have designed the world over the decades, but the games I feel are mine. I grew up with them. The fluff as they continually re-write it interests me little.
Gaming is still to me a chance to meet like-minded people, sink some bevvies, compliment one another on painting and modelling, discuss tactics, win the odd game, research new historical periods - painting is my version of meditation, gaming my testosterone output.
Any tournaments, never mind pickup games, which I have partaken in over the years including the European GT not one person has ever raised an eyebrow at proxied units - pretty much everyone is of the same mindset at least in my current Victorian gaming cadre/community.
Pardon the long post and may all your dice roll high (or low, if making Ld rolls)!
;)
-
Yeah, it's very easy to tell others to be happy with proxies when you're sat on a large collection yourself. =-P
-
Yeah, it's very easy to tell others to be happy with proxies when you're sat on a large collection yourself. =-P
GW is so supid. If they would have just announced a last chance opportunity to get your orders in with the full understanding that it would be filled, they would have made so much money. Instead, all the money is now going to ebay and people sitting on a pile of stuff that new gamers, caught unawares by GW's ignorance, now pay 'uge of amounts of cash for. Totally understandable if all you need is that few odd units to complete your army, x 20 if you tried to collect every army for alot of games systems.
-
True that but when I was collecting my armies Specialist Games were fully supported by GW. There were articles, a dedicated magazine, tutorials, events being run at the stores...
That perhaps is the main point of difference. Were I to begin playing today I'd be welcomed and relieved by someone with, as you mention, several original armies telling me I don't need GW originals and proxies are perfectly acceptable. I built my collections of both Epic and Warmaster over several years, losing interest awhile, then going out on purchase binges, then losing interest again, then getting full on back into it..like I imagine most of us do.
What I really meant - which may not have come across as intended as evidenced by your response if I've interpreted correctly - is it's the rules, camraderie and fun/fluff of the systems and universes GW built that keep me coming back to Specialist Games. I love the univeses and world, the fluff, and the Specialist rulesets.
Once GW dumped them, though, all bets are off in my book - I no longer owe GW's shareholders jack.
A Kallistra army makes a perfectly acceptable Brettonian force; Eureka's line of miniatures offer wonderful Dark Dwarves and Beastmen army proxies. Demons are available from more manufacturers than I can name, as are renaissance (Empire) and generic Elves and Dwarf forces (just look at Pendraken's lines - stunning and cheap)
Were GW supporting SG it'd be a different ball game, but since they're not - why pay a premium for something the very manufacturer of the game has dumped. It's the community that keeps these games alive, certainly not the corporate bigwigs in their crystal palaces.
At my local GW store you can't even mention Specialist Games, yet on a Sunday arvo the manager shuts up shop and busts out Blood Bowl, Necromunda, Warmaster, Epic...not all managers/GW staff abide "the rules" - many became involved for the same reasons we all play these games, they just have to toe a line because they have rent and children and it's their job to push product. Once the doors shut though, they're gamers just like you and I and that's cool to me.
:D

I wonder how many of these people just have no clue as to how the game works?
There's heaps of lots advertised as 'massive armies' when really they're only a few blisters worth, and others with 5 strips of X and 8 strips of Y- none of which are actually enough to make a single full unit without fillers.
-
It seems to be quite common that people don't know what they're selling. Saw a Warhammer Fantasy Orc army earlier today advertised as Warhammer 40,000 (40k) Ork Army. I suppose they could count as Ferals, but I doubt the seller was going for that. I guess we aren't all gamers on this planet. :p

Yeah... Before the prices went mad I managed to get a Void Spinner, Scorpion and Storm Serpent but no Cobras or Revenants. So I keep occasionally looking at these things, longingly, but then I think... That money could go to boost projects like Warmonger or other fan made stuff for Warmaster.

Questing knights are a rare one. Selling 4 for that price each though? Ouch
Edit: I retract that. Compared to his other Bretonnian items, they're downright cheap! But people are actually buying these?!?
-
Were they a Storm of Chaos special?
I'm wondering if it might be worth it in a "just have one for the collection" kind of way. £50 is what the SoC character blister goes for, and was less than other SoC units were going for last year (Hammerers etc.).
-
someone needs to
cast a set up.
-
I don't remember them being Storm of Chaos related, though they may have been. I think they were just one of the many alternative units sculpted and 'just because'.
If you're a collector of the alternative units and consider that reasonable then sure, go for it. I saw both Storm of Chaos Chaos Sorcerors on eBay recently if you're after them, as well (though they may have been missing their base detail pieces).
He sells the Bretonnian Squires- a unit I want- for 45 pounds :o
-
Ha ha, no, not reasonable. I, too, had my eyes on some sorcerors.
But I am in the UK, so I don't really see the listings around the world. Import charges make it even more expensive to get things from the US or Oz, usually.
-
Almost all of those Bretonnian things have sold out :o He must have made some nice money there. That's a bad sign about getting things for more reasonable prices later...
-
Those knights where common Knights of the Realm.
The rare knight unit is the Errant Knights. And there are the "Grail Knights" unit existing too. The "Questing knights" just do not exists.
So those where the classical knights unit... I checked the pictures.
-
Wow so that is... a case of mislabelling, urgh.
-
Thanks Marell, and sorry to have been wrong Stormwind- hope you didn't end up getting any?
Bretonnia has too many knights :P it gets confusing
-
No no, absolutely no way I would spend that on a blister unless I was absolutely certain it was a very rare one. Most I ever paid for a blister was £35 for the Storm of Chaos one MiB.

£500?! More money than sense...
-
I think retail is $500 US? And I don't think it has sold out? Early rumours confused the currency and said 500 pounds- maybe that's what this seller is basing the price on?
I think it's a very nice model, but no way can I justify it.

33 units or so, or more than £10 a unit, for Empire and Dwarves (no rares)
-
BFG stuff still seems to be fluctuating wildly. Some people are not only trying but getting over £60 for a basic battleship yet earlier today I picked up a terminus est, 7 chaos cruisers and 10 escorts for 63 quid with postage it makes no sense at all :/

Holy crap a bunch of common o&g blisters went for about £20 each.
-
I like that it makes me feel much richer :P
Those are some odd prices though. 20 pounds for the Giant and Black Orcs? I can see the interest in Orc Warriors, as core units are... well, core, though 20-30 pounds is a bit much. And it's then odd that the goblins only went for 10 pounds each- and that included the rarer bow-armed models.
The difference of 10 pounds for trolls in blister vs trolls nicely painted is a bit much.
I'm also surprised to see the Goblin Fanatic Cannons at 34 pounds- I think that's a rise for them.

Wow. On the positive side they are in good condition. Maybe you can contact the seller with a more reasonable offer and he may reconsider once it's been around for a while? He still probably wants an above average offer, or may set your asking price as the lowest bid in an auction.
-
Free advertising! Sweet haha.
On a serious note I actually got lucky and managed to pick up a second Emporer dragon/maiden! Which is why this one is now up for sale (I paid a pretty penny for it).
I'll be posting a bunch of my extra stuff up on ebay over the next few days. I've accumulated 5000+ pts in Chaos/high elves/dwarfs so most of it will be that stuff. But I will have some rarer stuff mixed in mainly my extra daemons and brets.
Feel free to shoot me a PM and make an offer, I'm in no rush to sell this stuff, but may consider lowing prices (or adding make an offer) if they don't sell over the next little bit.

Some insane prices there !!!!.

Key word is "some". Lots of good deals to be had like 4 units of high elf spearmen for $30 or a unit of chaos knights for $15.

-
Yeah. Prices have already long ago left the sphere of common sense. It is a seller's market not a buyer's market.
People have the right to sell at ANY price they want to.
Not pointing fingers here but the only thing I have a problem with is "if" someone uses tons of gaming forums to feign interest in Warmaster and buy from the communities and then forward those minis straight on to Ebay for huge prices to make a pretty penny.
I can't stop that practice but it certainly is something I am not fond off.

What's the going rate for the Dragon/Maiden. I've got 2 sets now, one of which I picked up on this site for basically $300 when shipping/customs etc were factored in. I don't want to lose to much cash on it.

I see that an Araby bundle sold last night on eBay for over £156. Can't decide whether or not that's a fair price based on the scarcity of those minis?
-
How many units?
-
The listing said: "It is a large amount of models, easily enough for a complete army, but I have forgotten how exactly they form into units! I have checked through the parts though and there is the following: 12 spearmen, 6 heavy cavalry, 39 swordsmen, 22 camels, 12 archers, 4 elephants. And loads of command miniatures, including 4 more elephants."
-
Was there any pictures?
12 spearmen could mean 12 strips = 2 units.
Or it could mean 12 actual spearmen, wich is what you get on 2 strips...
-
Here's the pic the seller put up. I was tempted to bid but it got way out of my price range many days before the deadline.

Lots of stuff. Not sure it's worth the price for me personally but if it sold then someone thought so at least :)

All WM prices seem to be high those last weeks. Lizardmen, arabie, skaven... and all the old oop stuff are again going to crazy prices :(
Anyone know why it's going again up ?
-
No idea. As one of the old timers I'm hardly buying anything anymore as I have what I want now really.
To speculate: Maybe others are finishing off their collections? Or is there a wave of new players buying in to the game as they desert Warhammer?
Dave
-
Guesswork: Most Warmaster-players/collectors/painters out there are probably around 30 and upwards with disposable income to spend? That would certainly drive the prices up a bit.
I am 32 minus the disposable so it's almost impossible to get my hands on the rare OnG stuff (savage/forrest) that I want :/

It's not GW, it's a Kallistra Orc Ballista. You can get 3 new ones for £6. The seller has other Kallistra stuff on at equally "optimistic" prices you'd have to be soft in the head to pay.
I contacted the seller a few weeks ago and told him both the source of these figures and that they are overpriced. He hasn't altered the prices though. Meh.
-
I've been laughing at that kallistra lobba for weeks. Been trying to decide whether I should pm the seller or not!!!
-
There are seller that are not worth it...
Prices where going back to acceptable range those days, but Dark Elves of this night sold for a high price again, and skaven & arabian are rare those time.
Who can say what price they will reach when they will be seen again ?
-
I've been laughing at that kallistra lobba for weeks. Been trying to decide whether I should pm the seller or not!!!

Lol well I don't even know what kinda scale the kallistra ones are. I'm sure they are great but I have a GW one and I've supplemented it with 2 from Polar Fox which are perfect scale and great models. 8)

Yes, I've got 2 GW ones, so I don't need any more. It'd be interesting to see how far you could screw him down on the price though ;)

Lord that is UGLY - I'm guessing it's Space Fleet era, not BFG.

It's 180 pounds of 'what?'!
I agree it's probably from Space Fleet, assuming it's a GW thing at all.
At least it reaches the free world-wide shipping bracket :P

Unreleased stuff are prototypes made by the GW crew during the sculpture tests, etc. Collectors pay high prices for them. They are sometime ugly and sometime very nice stuff never released at production for sale for a reason or another.

About the BFG unreleased, it's more or less normal prices for this type of figs. They are very rare.

The BFG craftworld Eldar ships are really steep priced on eBay. 150 dollar for an unpainted flame of asuryan is quite the money.

I am finally trying to get into BFG - with Eldar and Chaos on my list of wants - bit discouraged by this one. =P
-
While I agree that some of the BFG prices are silly try not to get discouraged. There are some good deals on eBay, I picked up a complete necron fleet 1x tomb, 3 scythes, 2x light cruisers and then 15x assorted escorts for $100aud.
So there are good and honest people selling, not just the scalpers. I would say chaos come up quite often so keep and eye out. Also have a look at the BFG Facebook page, always people selling on there for good prices as they know they are selling to others that enjoy the game. In the past 3x weeks I have seen every fleet advertised for below eBay prices.

some of the prices on e-bay are still silly high, saw a retribution battle ship going for £220

Warmaster "Commons":
here in the U.S. we just had thanksgiving last week and it seemed like no one was bidding at all while some auctions ended with just my 1 bid. purchased 6 blisters for not even thirty bucks shipped and there was a whole mess of storm of chaos characters also for sale. picked up archaon the everchosen and teclis for not even another 30 shipped.
the only thing that was contested was an alternate chaos spawn, the one that looks like a disgusting alien bug with the 2 sharp arms, just over 25 shipped.
All of us americans are still in a turkey coma and plenty of things are still going for just 1 bid of .99 cents ;)

Ahh, you had to say something! :P I was hoping for some High Elf Chariots and Silver Helms, but they got away from me. Now I'll just have to happy with some High Elf archers. Which for 10 dollars I suppose isn't too bad. :D

Doesn't always work like that.
Classic cars are more expensive now than when they were first available. The reason is they are no longer manufactured, and the people that have them are unwilling to part with them. So you get a lot of potential buyers wanting to purchse the same thing, hence the price goes up.
-
Just like b#%# houses in my area. Trying to buy one without going broke when there's more buyers than sellers. :(

same thing with this situation. Oddly enough, there are more buyers than figures to buy. Oddly being that they were at one time mass produced and I still cant find someone to play a game with besides my brother :P
The dwarf king on a throne and the anvil of doom models went for a ridiculous 61 dollars each, plus shipping. So I guess most everything is normal still. ha

Be persistent though, sometimes there are opportunities apparently. (Signed for a house today).
-
out of curiosity, where are you moving too? Don't worry, I already bought a house. Biggest pain in the ass decision ever! HA

500 meters from my old place as it turns out. Just north of Gothenburg on the Swedish west coast.

God I would love to visit Scandinavia.

Where are you from Stormwind?

Sorry!
Back on topic. =D

I don't know what just happened. Maybe ebay broke or something. But I was just able to get a blister of silverhelms, 2 unit of high elf spearmen, 1 unit of high elf archers, 1 bolt throwers, one unit of reavers and 1 unit of chariots for under 40 dollars with shipping.
That was crazy. Is there something I don't know? Like Games workshop has already shown super cool new warmaster sculpts so that these are worthless?
There were some other things that went for ludicriously cheap, but I was too weighed down with goodies to justify spending anymore.
-
That would have been a normal price back in 2012 :-X
-
Maybe I accidentally went back in time! Great for me because I missed the boat back then.
I've never seen prices like that since I started collecting 5 months ago.

Christmastime - People's disposable income is spent on other stuff :P
-
i just saw the warmaster dwarf king and the anvil of doom go for a combined 120 plus shipping a month ago. Just bought them together in a buy it now for 83 shipped last week. :) patience!!! (still a ridiculous price, I know) and yes mlkr, other peoples disposable income at Christmas time I spent on stuff for me, ha!

-
Very nice. I think lots like that from the common armies have a bit of a problem in that most people who want to collect that army will have made a reasonable start by now- so that kind of price isn't appealing, even though it is a great little force by itself.

People have no shame!
-
Sealed stuff has always exploded prices. I have seen a warmaster Emperor Dragon go for 300 euros because it was still in shrinkwrap few years ago.
Other than that, i have seen skaven are back around 50$ for clan rats...
-
I haven't ben watching much Warmaster stuff recently but with the odd exception, prices actually paid seems to be slowly trending downwards? That's more of a gut feeling rather than a hard figures analysis though.
Dave
-
Yeah, prices are from a general sight globaly lowing but at a very slow speed and with some exceptions.
And it remains very different from one week to another.
Vampire counts went for nothing few days ago, but they can go back to 50$ per blister at any time. That is my opinion of those last sells.
Dark elves and lizardmen are more or less back to 20$ approx. Sometime less. Skaven are those very last days back at high price.
-
Araby is the one thing that never goes for a lower price, that I can see.
-
last arbaian stuff whent for low prices... Around 30$.
And wow, those Dragon Princes where expensive but found a buyer at 150$ BuyItNow.

Yeah was surprised by that. Would have bid higher but I just bought a bunch of Vampire Counts.

Oh no, sorry, I expressed myself poorly.
They went to someone else. I have recently bought some Vampire Counts and didn't need any more.

Having just looked at the listing, it would appear that the Albion army sold for the asking price (+ £10 postage)!
-
To be fair, the Albion army was fully painted, with some conversions and rare models. If I was the seller I'd have aimed high too.
-
Curious: what miniatures would be in an Albionthemed army?
-
Here's the original listing

Looks like Albion blisters, GW Marauder cavalry, Eureka Wood Elves, and lots of BoFA plastic plus a Storm Giant. Some rare stuff there but I'm not sure that it's £500 rare.

First time I've seen this unit on eBay.
I really want it... But that price is crazy.
-
Couple of price increments beyond crazy.
-
Frankly, this seller is right to propose it at a high price. It has not poped on ebay for years, and this one is NIB.
I'm unsure someone will buy it but at a sightly lesser price it would go. Probably a best offer will be accepted at nearly the initial price.
-
I don't want it mint, I'm not going to bury it in a cupboard, I want to paint it and use it. =P
-
Too pricey even for me!!
-
I don't want it mint, I'm not going to bury it in a cupboard, I want to paint it and use it. =P
I fully understand that. Halas, collectors value the most NIB stuff. This sell is clearly adressed to collectors.
The most i see prices evolves, the most i think we should recast in resina our pieces. Collectors can fight to buy original metal figs. players just want to play with them, even if they are not original ones.
But well. GW do sell collectable figs and always did. It's clearly an assumed market.
-
I noticed Vanguard Games apparently sell some vintage SG stuff for recent prices. They even had a bunch of Space Fleet stuff for super cheap. No surprise it was gone within hours. Think they only have some Epic stuff left.
-
Who wants a unit of the Knights of the Blazing sun for 212 $ ? :)
The rest of the seller's items are of the same type...

Of course! But with steep prices like that you have to be prepared to be mocked, at least a little bit ;)

Something a little awry in the pricing here, do you think?
£275/£62 for photographs that look identical but the item descriptions are very different.
Whoever it is has other items on as well, all very overpriced.
-
is he actually moving stuff.... ??
5 units of skellies, that is app 50 GBP
-
@#%& recasters spamming my searches with overpriced crap.
-
Bloody hell my limit for common blisters is £5 a unit, ha ha.
-
The picture shows 18 stands also. He can't count on 2 counts.
-
Just spent 25$ (with shipping) on a unit of Phoenix guard without bases. That's the most I've spent on a blister. How reasonable/unreasonable was that price? I don't have any rare units and I needed more high elf spearman anyways... At least that's how I justify it myself.
-
Very reasonable. Going price for them even before The Great Dying of 2013 was £30/£40.
They're a more common rare unit.
-
Yep, it's a good price if you think it's genuine stuff. But sol without bases, i guess it's only recasts. Check carefully the casting quality when you receive them.

-
Sold? ... Woah! Someone really wanted that throne.
/Mlkr
-
I don't get what the rare part of that is. There's another auction with a much cheaper Anvil, and I don't remember the Throne being uncommon. It's odd that only 3 main bidders pushed the price so high.
-
Yes, throne and anvil are very tought after, even if prices have gone down those last weeks. But it remains a rare blister. Nobody had bought it when still available cause useless in rules if i remember well.
And well, for 10 units in total... I'm not impressed at all by price.
-
Hey, look at the last pic of the dwarven joblot: i see some dwarven unreleased pieces (organ gun, furniture strip and crew). The funny thing is that they weren't even listed in the auction details. I think that this joblot turned out as a real bargain :-)
-
I assumed the 'furniture strip' was cannon accessories? It's been a long time since I've looked at Dwarf blisters.
I wouldn't have recognised that as an Organ Gun if you hadn't have mentioned it- I'm still not quite sure- but that would certainly help explain the price! I'd have probably joined that bidding war.
-
Yeah, you're right, there are some of the unreleased things i have here.
Nice lot, after all ;)
-
Nice to have but I'm not sure I'd pay so much for it. :-X
-
I'll wager someone is going to cast them. I could get a 10mm organ gun and a crew sculpted by the perrys for not much more than that lol
-
Ha ha, if all these collectors took all their ££££s they'd spent on eBay and threw it at the Perry twins we'd have a new Warmaster range by now. =P

-
Felt on the bases you say? In that case they'd be cheap at twice the price!

This guy keeps posting individual Epic tanks and vehicles at ~£15 prices.
-
Epic prices have never growed like other OOP range did.
I think there are sellers who would love to make it more interesting for them. They probably set prices high, hoping that the rest of the sellers will do the same, and to begin a big move of prices up, forcing people to buy them at the price they want.
It could work if a sufficient number of sellers do that.
Some ranges, like Epic Tau, have already jumped few years ago.
-
I think there's too much old Epic floating around as compared to the other Specialist Games for that to work. Too many potential sellers.
-
The rise of plenty of 6mm epic proxy lines has really shot any chance of that really working well. Want a Leman Russ? Go nab a Vanguard Centurion tank. Need Catachan infantry? Go hit up Trolls Jungle fighters. yada yada yada
-
Totaly agreed. Anyway, some sellers keep trying to up prices... And probably some people wanting original GW stuff are ready to pay higher prices for a Leman Russ than the price of a Vanguard Centurion Tank.
-
I think the sellers don't understand what makes a valuable epic lot. A single 15 pound tank is insane, because you usually want ~10. No one is going to drop 150 pounds on a single, common Epic formation. The situation isn't helped for the sellers by the way Epic has changed over time- for example, I've seen people try and sell a Manticore blister for an absurd amount- but that's 2 models. You need at least 3- so the blister has very little value, except to a rare few people.
Warmaster prices can rise higher more easily since a blister pack is a full, useful unit.

If I recall correctly, the only thing in there is cardboard and an instruction manual. no real useful markers or cards and no models at all. :/

While there were around 4 000 000 copies of these candlesticks casted originally. Now these undamaged parts are relatively rare. Maybe there are many undamaged still in their gameboxes stored on dusty attics, the amount that comes up for sale is rather few.

You could have bought two of them for the same price as the following unreleased Confrontation figure from the same seller!!

Unreleased stuff can not be compared to classical one. They are far rarer. When they are not recasts...
-
Almost 300€ for one model is ridiculous, regardless of how rare it is, in my opinion.

Brilliantly, his user name is "money for old rope" which, for our non English speakers, as a saying referring to tricking someone into buying something useless.

What pity its used. He could have got a tenner for it if it was new. FS. ;)

Blimey.
Decimal point in the wrong place one would hope!
-
While I appreciate the value of that expansion, given that I own a copy myself, it cannot possibly be worth anywhere near that much. A rare German edition it may be, but asking such an extortionate price cannot be justified in my opinion.
-
I know this extension go for a high price but well...
-
I really want to get a full set of UK edition Heroquest add ons at some point, for myself. The base game, Kellar's Keep and the Witch Lord add on are not too scarce but the Ogre Horde and Morcar add ons are incredibly rare to find in complete condition, even without boxes.
I wonder why that is - were they very late in the release cycle? Was the RRP on release too high?
-
They were the last two releases (apart from the Adventure Design Kit), so that may have something to do with it. I'm also not sure how many of them were actually made. I'm just relieved that I have them, so that I don't have to shop around for them now.
-
I think the ogres where only released in the US and for a short time.
-
The Ogre Horde and Wizards of Morcar were both released in the UK.

This chap had a glut of rares or rather, un-released Warmaster. I assume they were recasts - but they went for a good price.
-
Mmmmm, imho i'm not sure about they beeing recasts: principefenice is the eBay nickname of Luca Amadori, once chief of italian GW team. So he could have grabbed some goldies, as many others gw staff did.
-
Oh wow! That's interesting. I imagine that a lot of odds and ends on eBay must come from ex-GW staff, then.

Some... Optimistic listings...
-
The prices for the Heroquest games and expansions are both outrageous and ridiculous. It makes me so happy that I have the original games. Nobody should entertain paying those prices for Heroquest stuff. It may be valuable, but it's not that valuable.
-
To be honest: I like watching specialist games stuff on ebay.
Sometimes prices are reasonable. Thats ok. Sometimes reasonable enough that you can buy stuff. But often people just go nuts.
Its fun to watch how someone out there tries to sell something "RAR" or "PRO PAINTED" for a year or even longer. In the most cases, these people wait at least 8-9 month before they start to reduce the price by 5 euro or something like that.
It gets even better when someone buys a large collection and tries to sell all components piece by piece for profit afterwards...and they keep sitting on them for years.
Or when people try to make money from stuff honest sellers just send as bonus, stuff like self made markers made from cardboard or similar stuff every player already has made for himself. Watching people try to make money out of stuff wich doesn't cost anything can be fun.

OK I know this isn't specialist but uh - I do wonder how these things get listed.

So eBay UK has just closed out on 3x BOFA Elven cavalry for c£72 + P&P.
These are as we know, very rare with the odd chancer sitting on a pack and asking £99.99 month in month out.
I was in that race, just needed 1 pack to make a brigade and would have sold the other two on.
No such luck, too rich for me, then tonight someone’s put on a set of two, after months of nothing. I just don’t get why people don’t put units like this up as singles. Anyway seems I’m in another buy two sell one race?
Joken

Has anyone else noticed that bog standard "common" Warmaster blisters or loose metals have been creeping up to silly prices on eBay?
I'm just trying to get a couple of folks into Warmaster in a new area; one fellow is interested in Empire but I don't have enough spares for him to make an army out of them. Just looked on ebay, £30 for the General on Gryphon?
-
I haven't been looking in a while- is that just 'buy it now' prices, or actual auctions?
Most 'buy it now' people are dreaming- I assume they're either very hopeful, or have just been told warmaster is rare and not looked into details.
-
Yeah, i agree with Geep. Those BuyItNow unit just never sell. They are relisted again and again. Don't watch them. Those sellers just don't take time to study the market. Standard auctions fo for far less than that.

Yep. Nice one ;)

wow. I'd love to get the hero quest expansions, but this is the reason it won't ever happen!

Yeah, probably.
I guess it's a good invest for collectors.

I have a feeling that they might be, but either way that price is way over the top.
