Thought this was a clever use of pretty common left over parts and bitz easily found from BFG and Epic lines. Stumbled across this on ebay yesterday and perhaps it'll inspire some ideas :)

Oh very nice! I love a nice scratch build.
-
Yeah I plan on building a few of these myself. I have a metric-ass-ton of old SM2 buildings laying around that I am slowly doing stuff with but it's slow going. This should be a way to put them to good use. I have plenty of Scibor (http://sciborminiatures.com/) bitz (such as these panels (http://sciborminiatures.com/pow.php?absol=1&co=i/reniata/big/angel_decorated_plates_rr_1.jpg)) that should be quick to use for "Gothic-ification" items :D

When I can dig them up, I'll post some of my space marine hatch defense platforms. You can use the full hatch piece for a bigger, chunkier platform, or sandwich a pair of the "technical" hatch socket filler pieces together (domed parts up, storm bolter mounts inward) and run boom arms out from inside for weapon mounts pretty easily (and chaos smoke launchers make great torpedo tube arrays; it's how Forgeworld built their Gothic-pattern torpedo platforms).

makes me want to paint my scratchbuilds as seen about half way down this page

well anything bfg would be nice at the moment but 40k guard are a priority at the moment :(

I've long wanted to make an Eldar space station with vanes made from Shrinky dinks and craft faux jewels. I know that sounds weird, but the brilliant colors and translucence I think would be very eldar-ish.
-
well, i have a similar project in progress, a space station using the leftover bits... but mine has a different approach for the core of the fortress (it will be more a fortress than just a station)....
more will be revealed once i start the modeling WIP log here on the forums, no spoiler here ;D

Nice piece alright!

I always wanted to do something like this
(http://www.sbmccoy.com/nx/images/03_specs/shipyard_orbit.jpg)
I tried some years ago and failed. Much better hobbyist now. I should probably try again.

Funny. There's a guy on Shapeways that has one. He's an actual professional modeler (like he was one of the CG guys for BSG) and does his mechs and ships. Here's the link (http://www.shapeways.com/model/76511/spacedock.html?li=productBox-search&materialId=1)

@ OP, yeah I was considering picking that station up. It's too bare as it is for me, and I'd probably strip it of it's currently acceptable paint job, as the ship bays need more ornamentation so they don't stick out at the ends. The deeper end of the T could have some 1/4 rings that increase in width detailed with sensor/weapon arrays, or a 'guts on the outside' dry dock. It's a little bare, but it's great source material as I live light and don't buy or keep many bits around.
@radu lykan: Holy smokes, I came across your thread just a day or two ago, and I AM IMPRESSED! You have a diverse collection, but post some completed photos of your tall 40k ruins and of that Reaver!

lol, me complete something? dont hold your breath :)
unfortunately, as my log shows, my hobby time over the last couple of years has been almost non existant, would love to get some of my older projects done but am forcing myself to try to get a 40k guard army done, even with this single minded focus just finding time for the hobby is a problem currently :(

good looking station
