Looking to get back into BFG. Smart move right, now that the SG's have been unceremoniously dumped by GW? >:(
Anyway, you can't stop the BFG once its reared its head and bitten you again. So I decided to dig out my two unbuilt Imperial cruisers and turn them onto two Lunar Class ships, which have so far been absent from my fleet.
My goal is to turn to use subtle conversions to have them stand out a bit from the cruiser crowd. So I moved the bridge forward a bit, added some extra antennas and sculpted an "angelmonk" brandishing a sword and shield on the prow:

Second cruiser will probably have the bridge placed even further forward, I'll replace the prow eagle with a skull and add an Imperial eagle (Retribution style) behind the bridge.

I like the forward-slung bridge layout, and you filled in the original mounting nicely. I also really wish I had your greenstuff skills.

nice work there, i built all of the cruisers in my fleet in one day and so missed out on the opportunity for some of the variety others have brought to their fleets. it is the one thing i regret with my fleet, i love the idea of each ship having its own profile or "lines"
if all my cruisers werent already the same i would def build one with a forward bridge as this looks great :)
for the second one, do you have any old chaos bridges? if you trim one down a lot you could then have the original bridge in th enormal place and the slimmed down secondary bridge further forward? something like the bridge i made for my schismatic light cruiser

Thanks guys! I wish I had some more bits to play with, but unfortunately I only have the Imperial plastic kit to work with. I'm on an extremely tight student budget at the moment, so even the average Ebay lot is beyond my modest means ATM.
I'll try scrounging some bits of of friends, but no success guaranteed.

Second one has been assembled, but I went a bit overboard on her. Her bridge has been moved even further forward. The prow has been extensively modified, with a balled fist for a ram, laurel wreaths added, a spear point which I think will look good when painted and the eagle's head replaced with a skull with lightning bolts added.
However, the most work was building a cathedral above the engines, which is now the ships pride and joy though.
Also, after this picture was taken I removed the eagle again, because it seems a bit too big and dominating the model. It's been replaced by another angelmonk reading a scroll. Fits the cathedral a bit better and because it has its wings pointed backwards, it doesn't block the view of the cathedral's entrance as much.

The removed eagle will be added to another model though. I've decided to pull my Mars class battlecruiser in for an extensive refit next. I've always felt that battlecruisers should be slightly more impressive models when compared to the ordinary cruisers, so I'm going to copy some of the features of the Emperor to the Mars, to make a sort of miniature battleship.

maybe the cathedral would have been better on a battle cruiser at is certainly impressive and if your battlecruisers need to out do your cruisers then what do your battle cruisers get?
nice work on the figure head, this fleet should look awesome if they all get modified, how many/what ships are you aiming for?

Well, I have at least three more conversions planned. I wanna do a slightly more modest version of the cathedral on one of my Tyrants. The Mars class will get a major upgrade. Also want to add another statue plus vertical wing/superstructure behind the bridge of my Dominator.

Very interesting work! Pretty unique conversions, and very well executed!
It inspires me to try and do some conversion work on some of my models. Keep it up!
