With fw no longer producing ae, what is being done for models and more importantly bases?
-
Well I can't help you with bases though I will point out there's nothing that the AI bases have/do that cannot be simulated with a card, chit, or dice next to the aircraft. However I am like you and have a rather OCD nature to my bases so happened to stock up on them prior to death so YMMV. :D
For flyers there's several manufactures out there that produce nice SciFi minis at the appropriate scale for use with FW flyers, one of whom is a member of this board (Evil&Chaos, more on that later).
So the first thing that springs to mind is Reaper Mini's True Scale figures. They make great lander and Valkyrie/Vulture proxies. I'd check out the Merlin, Ghast, and Fenri especially though the whole range is great IMO.

Another good option that is just starting up is the new line of 6mm minis from Troublemaker Games (http://www.troublemakergames.co.uk/index.htm). They produce (or I should say will be producing shortly now that the croudfunding campaign was a smashing success) a human sci fi bomber that is in scale with a Marauder. I nabbed two of them myself just for some visual variation in my airfleet. You can see them on the Gallery Tab on the indiegogo site (http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/6mm-scale-armies). According to Ben the line is only going to increase and that includes flyers for Humans, his brutish ramshackle aliens, and 3rd line that is a heavily cyborg/augmentation based faction.

I make my own from everyday, garden variety, bargain store bought, non-toxic, kid friendly Sculpey and a toaster oven. The trick is to use Templates, sculpt on a oven ready surface, and bake on a slightly, lower temperature than recommended. Hellbaldes are particularly easy to make witha template.
You can also find some Aircraft from EM4 and Spartan Games. The Old Crimson Skies range may also work, but I think it is OOP as well.

Updates from Ben Today! :)

It looks nice - I can't wait to get my hands on mine!

Here's some new designs from TMG for a ramshackle road-warrior-esque fighter that is suitable for brutish aliens or other low tech factions!

Greetings,
I was looking at the Iron Winds (Ral Partha) range for Crimson Skies. There maybe some promising models there.

Here is a scale shot of a Hellblade and a Crimson Skies aircraft courtesy of Commander Draaken on the Ammobunker.

man that looks pretty good. Too bad their images are for suck on the website.

Sometimes you find suitable proxies in the weirdest places. I was at the dollar store and came across toy airplane. I gave it a few licks of paint, and this is what I came up with....

A nice stand-in Marauder Vigilant.
-
I think that's a Micro Machines military model from the late 90s. Those were amazing models - very well painted to begin with and then terrible when they cut costs.
-
Don't know, but it is more "Matchbox" size than Micro-machines use to be. Either way, it was $1 which is pretty close to my favorite price point.... $0. :)
I found a gunship that could be a nice Vulture/Vendetta stand-in.

Some more upcoming stuff from Trouble Maker Games
(Ben, let me know if you want me to pull these pics. I assume they're kosher to post)

Nice, the top one would make a nice Avenger Strike Fighter proxy.
The bottom is pretty obvious what we could use that one for.
I looked on the Troublemaker Site, but didn't find the Lancastrian Bomber for sale yet. Did I miss it somewhere?
-
Looks like the Lancastrian Bomber is available for sale at TMG!

This would be a great Marauder proxy!

Of course, the Exodus Wars range has great stuff for Varingyr or Valkyrie proxies...

TMG is up to big things again, folks. This time it looks like they're pulling out all the stop on this one when it comes to airpower between their human and brutish ramshackle aliens we all know and love.
