As many of you know, since GW stopped producing 10mm figures, I have started making lists that map warmaster troop types to miniatures that are widely available today:
http://www.athens-fantasy.gr/2013/07/warmaster-miniatures-in-the-post-gw-era/
There are several armies I haven't prepared yet, so I am turning this into a collaborative effort. Feel free to post ideas/links here and I will sum it up on the blog post to have everything collected there. I will try to keep it up to date as new lines are released to cover the gap in the 10mm market.
So this thread is about the Dogs of War and I ll just copy Karl's awesome write up from the gw-warmaster yahoo group (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/gw-warmaster/message/55534 (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/gw-warmaster/message/55534))
Pikemen:
Company, Old Glory. You'll want to use the heavily armored Pikemen as they
look much better. They are from their High Medieval and Early Renaissance
1400-1500 figure line. Product Code: HMR-113 Description: Swiss Armored
Pikemen.
With this product code you'll want to order at least three bags of Pikemen.
They are $9.50 (as of 3/15/13) a bag. With that many bags you'll be able to
base them per the rules and have 12 figures on each base. Three bags of these
figures will give you twelve stands. So you'll get three Units this way.
Crossbowmen:
Company, Games Workshop. Empire Crossbowmen Product Code: 99061202003.
Handgunners:
Company, Games Workshop. Empire Handgunners Product Code: 99061202002
Alt Company, Old Glory. You can get their 10mm Handgunners pack which contains
50 Handgunners per pack. They are from their High Medieval and Early
Renaissance 1400-1500 figure line. Product Cod: HMR-116.
Swordsmen:
Company, Old Glory. It seems to me that you'll want to use the heavily
armored knights on foot for this one. I'd go with their High Medieval and Early
Renaissance 1400-1500 figure line. You've got two choices here. If you want
the same figure over and over simply order their Dismounted Knights or if you
want some variety order both the Dismounted Knights HMR-102 and Dismounted
Command HMR-103. There are 50 in HMR-102 and 30 in HMR-103. With a maximum of
4 units per 1999 points of army you'll probably want at least two of each, which
will provide you some extra figures that you can create wound markers with… one
dead guy, two dead guys, three dead guys.
Ogres:
Company, Games Workshop. From the Orc & Goblin army range you'll use the
Warmaster Ogres. Product Code: 99061209011.
Dwarves:
It doesn't get any easier than this. Simply choose some dwarves from the
Warmaster: Dwarves Army and use them. It's that easy. Ok don't use the Dwarf
Gyro Copter.
Marauders:
Nothing says "Marauder" like a Viking, ok a Pirate might say it as well but
I just couldn't find anyone that made a 10mm Pirate. I was able to find Vikings
though!
Company: Old Glory. They have several product codes for the Vikings (even a
Bondi, and what the heck that is, your guess is as good as mine). Here's the
codes for their Viking range: SVN-100 "Viking Command", SVN-101 "Vikings with
Axes", SVN-102 "Bondi", SVN-103 "Viking Archers", and SVN-104 "Viking
Berserkers". I'd mix up the codes to produce the Units. Most games you'll
only need 48 figures total. Which means (1) SVN-100 "Viking Command" and one of
the other codes. If you really go nuts you could build enough units for large
games and purchase more than just two of the codes.
Alt Manufacturer: None found. If you find 10mm Pirates please let me know!
Light Cavalry:
Here you'll want to choose something that suits your taste and mixes it up.
I'd say go with Orcs, Elves, Humans, Halflings, etc. if you can pull it off.
There are many companies that offer them, so pick one and get to painting.
Mounted Knights:
Company, Games Workshop. From the Bretonnian army range you'll use the
Warmaster Bretonnian Knights. Product Code: 99061203003
Galloper Guns:
As these are light, mobile artillery I recommend going with the Light
Cannons from the Old Glory Napoleonic Range, or Pendraken's Seven Years War
range. Either will suit you just fine. One thing I would do is change the
humans out for another race or a more fantasy version of humans.
Company, Old Glory. From the 10mm Grand Scale, Napoleonic, Equipment,
Russian range you'll use code: NAPR-700 for the light gun.
Alt Company, Pendraken. From the 18th Century, SYW Prussian range you'll
use code: SYP22.
If you wanted to you could also select something from the GW Warmaster
range but they just don't fit well.
Tuska:
Who doesn't love Wooly Mammoths or Rhinos in battle! Here's a place
where this army can really look cool. I'd go with Eureka's miniatures. You can
select either code from them (or both) and you'll be good.
Company, Eureka Australia. From the 10mm Eureka Miniatures, Fantasy range
you'll use code: 400FAN11 for the Wooly Mammoth, or code: 400FAN20 for the Wooly
Rhino.
Birdmen:
Here's where you need to do some conversion work. There really isn't a
Birdman that fits this. You could use the Pendraken Barbarian Birdman and not
do any conversion. You could make your own wings as seen in the Warmuster
Magazine #1. Or you could use the GW Empire Crossbowmen and add wings. I'll
list some codes but in the end you'll need to choose what you think is suitable
for you.
• GW Empire Crossbowmen: • Part Code: 99061202003
• GW Dark Elf Crossbowmen: • Part Code: 99061212004
• Pendraken Barbarian Birman (from their Fantasy Range, actually named Flyer
with Boulder): • FB9
I would recommend at least considering following the advice in Warmuster #1
it seems solid and a great way to make Birdmen.
General & Hero:
These are simple, just select a single figure that you like and bing! Any
of the GW Warmaster Generals or Hero's are perfect for this, simply choose them
based upon the fluff behind your army.
Hero: Paymaster.
I like the idea of using Pendraken's gold mound and selecting a
General/Hero and putting the gold mound in front of him to simulate that he is
the paymaster.
General/Hero: Product Code: Your choice.
Chair: Pendraken Miniatures. From the Fantasy, Dungeon Furniture line.
Product Code: DN26 Chair. Place this behind the General/Hero figure. Will make
him appear to be anxiously counting his gold!
Table: You'll place the gold mound on this table. Pendraken Miniatures.
Product Code: DN29 Empty Table Alternately you can select product code DN27
Wizards Table and then place the treasure mound next to the table. This will
give him the appearance of entering things in his ledger.
Treasure Mound: Pendraken, from the Fantasy, Dungeon Furniture line.
Product Code: DN20 Treasure Pile.
Wizard:
Figures are easy to find either from GW, Pendraken, Eureka, or another
company.
Company: Pendraken, Fantasy, Dwarves. Product Code: FD8 Dwarven Wizards.
Company: Pendraken, Fantasy, Accessories. Product Code: AC19 Wizard.
Company: Pendraken. Fantasy, Undead. Product Code: FU15 Zombie Wizards.
Company: Eureka Miniatures. With some work you can convert their Fantasy
Range figures into Wizards.
Company: GW Empire Characters: • Part Code: 99061202004
Griffon:
For the Griffon you can use either the GW Hero on Griffon: • Part Code:
99061202012
Alt Company: Eureka Miniatures: Gorgon Rider. Product Code: 400FAN13. I
know it isn't a Griffon but it is really cool.
Paywagon:
Here you'll have to do some conversions as well unless you simply want to
use the GW Empire War Alter and remove the ugly totem on top of it. Here's that
product code: • Part Code: 99061202013
You can use many other carts/wagons/etc. and get a nice effect.

I'll add the following:
Crossbowmen - TBLine Medieval Central European Crossbowmen TB4168
Wizards - Copplestone do a couple of nice 'not gandalf' and 'not saruman' models in their 10mm character packs
Also goes without saying that for suitable proxies of a specific race (Elves, Dwarfs, Goblins) check out the relevant proxy threads :)
-
Pikemen: I have produced them, too.
-
for mounted knights seems perfect Obelisk conquistadores
http://www.forum.specialist-arms.com/index.php?topic=4317.0
-
Obelisk would also give you swordsmen and handgunners - they are very nice looking figures. If I didn't have a mountain of Kallistra medium cavalry I would be ordering some now.
http://shop.strato.de/epages/61074886.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/61074886/Categories/%22Shop%2010mm%22/Historical
Dogs of War gives you a lot of options for how you want to represent the units - depending on what style you want to go for with the human units.
Personally I used Pendraken Pikes, a mix of the Landsknechts, Swiss and Elizabethan codes.
For the Ogres I used Pendraken Minotaurs.
Light Cavalry I used GW Wolf Riders, or TB Line Arab Horse Archers
Galloper Guns, Pendraken Landsknechts or Late Medieval light guns, with a horse on the back of the stand. These look much smaller and more mobile than the Empire or Dwarf canons.
For swordsmen - I rather disagree with the OP, swordsmen are save 6, so to be are lightly armoured - the Obelisk figures would be good.
For Marauders I like the look of the Kallistra Saxons

Hey Forbes, nice to read you here. I knew your web page and your DoW army is really great and an inspiration. I always liked your idea for the Birdmen wings, I will probably use the Pendraken wings too for mine ;)
cheers
-
Hi Edmund - glad you like my army. I've really enjoyed putting together the DoW units as add-ons to my Empire army. They have only been field a couple of times in WM - once were after carefully managing the Tuska for most of the game so it couldn't Stampede through my troops, I then managed to get it in front of my galloper guns - and of course it stampeded through them!
These troops have proved very useful in KoW though - where pikes are much more useful than halberdiers.
-
Had a productive day today :D. Photo below of my first Dogs of War Pike unit.
Pendraken's Elizabethan range, packs EL4 and EL5, bases from Renedra.
-
There are no photos but I like the sound of this lot for a Light Cavalry unit.
http://www.magistermilitum.com/scale/10-mm/fsk2-skeletons-with-spears-11680.html
Order placed, I'll post photos when they arrive.
-
Magister Militum Halfling Light Cavalry. Very nice sculpting :)
5 different sculpts, an officer, standard bearer, hornblower, swordsman and little guy holding a javelin aloft.
All on tubby little ponies.
-
And another photo.
As MM's blurb says, "This pack contains twelve Halfling light cavalry on ponies with command. The pony riders are more effective than they may sound. Equipped with human size spears which act between javelins and lances for the Halflings, they have an impact above their weight."
A different and unique unit of mercs, what's not to like?
-
very nice sculpt
-
Oh nice find, and characterful as halfings. =)
-
Birdmen of Catrazza proxies?

Magister Militum Halfling Light Cavalry
-
Magister Militum Flying Carpets
Ooops. Can a mod move this to the Araby thread please? :-[
-
Crossbowmen.
Magister Militum code LME14, with Pendraken Elizabethan EL4 Pikemen as the standard bearers.
-
Nice units
-
Magister Militum code FBZ201 Burgunzian Flyers. 40x20 base shown for sizing purposes. The code comes with just the 3 flyer minis, basically hang-glider types, with the guys holding what appear to be spherical grenades.
Note that the stands were extra, also from MM, each coming with a piece of steel wire, I've already cut a couple shorter in the photo. MM very kindly drilled a small hole in each mini to take the wire - I don't have a drill!
-
Oh wow, thanks for uploading a picture!
-
I have to say they are a little underwhelming.
I made these ones a few years ago from Pendraken wings and Empire Crossbow & Handgunner figures.
I think the Pendraken wings were from their Birdmen, but they look very similar to the ones that come with their Pegasus too.
