Title: How do you store your stuff?

I'm sick of having a bunch of not that useful carry cases about and twice I've dropped and broken some of my 28mm scale stuff in improvised boxes.

I really want to start glueing more Warmaster so I can see it ready to fight and therefore ready to paint, but not sure where to put them. 

I'm willing to spend money on some cases and magnetic basing but really not sure what to invest in.

Some advice, please? :-X

Interesting and very detailed conversation on this topic over at our sister site, TacComs. Primarch over there, and honestly this is NOT hyperbole, has one of the largest collections of epic in existence ever and recorded his experiences in getting storage for his insane collection (it took something like 20 pages to post pictures of everything he owns-INSANITY I TELL YOU :) )

You probably can gain some insight into this from taking a quick read though it.

With the weight of WM stuff you'll need a rigid tray system. I tote my elves around in a 8.5x11x1.5" box. I cut movement "trays" (just steal paper cut to the mm) and put them on that. I think that helps as there's a lot less movement in the box with it. It wouldn't survive being dropped, but handles jostling pretty good.

Yeah I was thinking some tray system with the Very Useful Boxes maybe...

To store the warmaster figures at home I use pizza boxes. So I have Small armies, Medium armies and Familiar armies.

I also have GW style cases to play in stores, but some figures suffer damage, bend tips or detached glued parts. This also happen if you use them to long term storage. I bought some tray foam with deeper "boxes" to keep miniatures inside but takes more space in the case, and it is absolutely more expensive.

Yeah - I think the only way to avoid damage is to magnetise a rigid plastic box and store units layer by layer. =-/

I found some small metal toolcases a while ago, and custom cut my own foam for all of my armies. It takes a while to make, and a fair bit of time to pack and unpack, but nothing breaks anymore. Doing it all myself has made it pretty cheap as well.

I use the GW hard carrying cases with foam and haven't found it to be a problem?
If you want 'cutom' size foam then I'd suggest Kaiser Rushforth (google them or go to any large wargamingh show in the Uk, they are usually there).


Saying that - the metal trays with magnetic basing would work just as well.
