Anyone got pics of the sea mat that they're using? I've got a Dreadfleet one, but I'm not overly impressed with it. What else is out there? Hoping to find something 4x4' or 4x6'.

A mate used a light blue table cloth.

I'm using 3 Dreadfleet mats, all backed on black felt and sewn together (by a profesional seamstress) to fill a 6' by 8' table. You can pick up Dreadfleet cheap on e bay now.
We play Uncharted Seas on it and I think it looks really cool!

I made this one for myself https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0aURk9aWUU1MW51N0JONlNCMWM/edit?usp=sharing .
You may download it and purchase a printing on fabric (polyester flag fabric is cheap enough) in nearest outdoor-AD workshop. And yes - you may scale it for required dimensions.

I bought a blue table cloth and then sponged a different shade of blue over it.
Here is in action for a game of Aquanautica Imperialis...

This company does gaming mats for seas and other settings.

I use a cloth as mat, blue with darker spots. Very correct and cheap.

Ended up getting this:
http://www.amazon.com/Residential-Commercial-Automotive-Upholstery-Vinyl/dp/B00DTXH8FK/ref=sr_1_1?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1381318336&sr=1-1&keywords=dark+blue+54+vinyl
It's in the mail.

I'm not fond of Vinyl texture cause figs stick to it and are frequently reversed, damaging the masts. But you won't have the problem of folds during the game.
-
The vinyl came today, I'm very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a sea mat. My test base matches it pretty damn close. Now I just have to hope I can paint all my other bases the same way... :P
@marell - With my ships being based I don't think I'll see too many flipping. I also put washers on the underside of the bases. This will help them slide around pretty easily and also help with the transporting thanks to a magnetic sheet in the bottom of a box.

Excellent and simple ideas ! May we have pictures of the mat with figs ?

Here's a quick pic of a base on the mat. The lighting isn't the best at my place but this is pretty close to how it appears in real life.
My ships are almost done. I'm hoping to have them gloss/flat coated and the bases done by the end of the week. On 10/26 I'm running a SG day at our local store. These ships will shove off for the first time then on the mat. I also have some Litko blast, fire, splash and smoke markers for fun! :)

I am for my part very satisfied of my litko markers. Games are more fun with them.
The mat seem a little bit dark to me. But well, it's good for an ocean during a dark storm.
