Title: Alt Ork Fighta-bombers

While building up an Ork fleet I came upon the Republic of France fighter counters from Spartan Games (Dystopian Wars). The fighters were big bodied and looked much like what I think of as Ork fighta-bombers.  In addition you get thirty stands per pack for ~$15. 

I gave them a variety of paint jobs (to give the unregimented feel of the orks).  I wish I had included some yellow though.  This is only half of the pack and it took me about three hours to paint them up.

Please let me know what you think.

Disclaimer: The Ork Kroozer in the background was not painted by me.  I picked it up at a flea market.

I would cut a bit the wings  but very nice, Now I am not sure if buying them or making them, damm :P

Actually, looking through Spartan Games Catalog the Ottoman tiny flyers would probably work even better.  They don't appear to be for individual sale yet though.  I might have to add some to my fleet when they become available  ;D.

Seriously, mate. "I shall play the most ramshackle and individualized faction in the game, so let me buy 18 of the identical model..."

Back on topic: I really like the use of the dystopian wars flyers. Great idea that is. I'll probably do the same for my imperials. Consider the idea pilfered :)

Since I've already got my ordnance set up for the Imperials and Tau I shall be buying tiny flier markers and filing away the aircraft to mount my own. The Dark Eldar will have to settle for Dystopian proxies though. (We cannot have the Dark Eldar be alone with these pretty bases). Through this bold stroke there will be more bases available for mounting my Epic Imperial Guard and Tau which came without. Now where did I put my Dremel?

Some of the DW players have " liberated" the tiny flyers from their bases and mounted them on nails/wires even.

It's really not much effort. I did the same with a ton of terrier light tanks to make Cyclops demolition vehicles for my epic Elysians.

Please tell me more. I was only planning on filing away the aircraft and replacing them. Did you cut them off with a knife or a jeweller's saw or something similar?
