Title: Trying to get my chaos list down, and its making me feel dirty.

Okay here is my problem.

I have two Styx and a Despolier and I would like them to be the back bone of my force, trouble is i would like to be able to scale my force down to 1500 if needed. And that leaves me with a list that I assume loads of you would dislike.


Desolator   with chaos lord, two Styx cruisers and four Schismatic light cruisers.

Am I a bad person for considering this? Should I simply say that 1750 is as low as I will go?

Nothing wrong with a Desolator + two Styx.
But four Chaos light cruisers is to much.

a) they're rarer
b) a whole bunch of people dislike chaos light cruisers because of it.

So, drop down with them. ;)

Drop a Styx to a Devestation per example and add Slaughters.

10AC per 1500pts is more then enough imo.

Dude, do whatever you want within the rules. If you are concerned with fluff, I think Horizon makes a good point. A fleet with a Despoiler, a Styx, and a Devastation would be really launch bay heavy. Fill the rest up the rest with him ships.

Not too up with the fluff on the lite cruisers, as I am pretty old school, but I looked up the stats and I don't see anything wrong with your fleet from a power level standpoint.  It would be like playing against a pure Tau fleet but with better range but fewer ships.  I wouldn't call cheese on it or anything.  Very attack craft dependant.  Two turns in a row of bad re-load orders could be catastrophic.  You shouldn't feel dirty about it.

Not just too attack craft dependent, the Schizmatics are torpedo dependent too. I would prefer swapping out some Schizmatics with Heretics.

Well i like combining AC and torpedos to overwhelm defenses, an i can afford an extra re-roll so have some backup for reloads

Start a Tau fleet.  ;)

Chaos strength is to be an all-round fleet with specialised ships.

Well I already have 5,5 chaos cruisers 3 infidels a despoiler and repulsive...

And if I do a 1750 fleet it ends up more of a regular chaos fleet with 3 murders/carnages and a slaughter daemon ship.
