Whilst I was in the hobby at the time when Man O war was released, I never really appreciated the game and as such missed out on getting the great game.
Fast forward to today - a unpunched copy just arrived at my front door :)
I intend to drag all my gaming friends kicking and screaming back to this awesome game. I will occasionally put up some pictures, some hobby updates and some battle reports as my range expands.

Whatever you do, stay clear of the expansions! They ruined the game. The core set was one of GWs best rule sets ever IMO
-
Oh wow! I will stay tuned to this!
Dobbsy: How did they ruin it? Should all the expansion armies just be ignored?
-
They broke the game with the standard GW practice of rules/list creep and included super ridiculous weapons and rules. The Chaos Dwarf Great Leveller and a couple of the Skaven ships were truly awful.

I'll get the expansions, though my need to house rule the nastier ships down a peg or two. Unfortunately for my waller I'm a bit of a collector and need to at least get one of each of the ships (or squadrons).
But thanks for the heads up, I'll be first trying to get a hold of all the core ships and fleets before moving on to the expansions :)

If you want an Elf Eagle Ship sqdn I have some just sitting in a box. I also have 1 or 2 of the smaller DE monster ships (Reavers and ....? ). I'm in Melbourne too so not too bad on postage ;)

I dont think that I want to know just how much an unpunched copy of MoW cost!

I must disagree with Dobbsy. Some fleets are more or less balanced, but all the extensions are important.
Dwarf fleet is just good to go in the trashbin if you don't add the Dreadnought ship, presented in the first extension (sea of blood).
Chaos dwarves are powerfull but they can be beaten with some good tactics, and to have powerfull fleets is always a good idea when you want to have hard time playing, or if you're an experienced admiral playing against a rookie.
Anyway, this game is just great ! I fell on Warmaster because i could not find any player here (nearly), but i really like this game, one of the very best GW ones in my opinion.
The rules smell like old school, but you really have a lot of fun during the games. The game is far better than Dreadfleet if you know this game, and the only good game to play big sea battles.

Man O'War is the one GW that I wish that I had purchased when it came out, but I never did. I'm glad that you've managed to get a copy of it though. Enjoy :).
