Title: Any Players in Bay Area/SF?
Post by: Duke on June 17, 2014, 11:00:26 PM
I'm moving back into the Bay Area proper come July, and I was hoping to find a store where BFG players can still be found.

Checked out Endgame in Oakland, and while the rep at the counter was very knowledgeable about BFG, he remarked that he hadn't seen the game in a long time.
This was distressing. I expected the Bay to a bastion of leftover BFG. If all else fails, I'm moving to LA down the road, maybe I'd chance the same question there.    ::)

There's a few other places, but they're outta the way.

I'd consider starting a club myself, if the game weren't so prohibitively expensive.

PS. I just finished constructing a beautiful Inquisitorial Cruiser, spitting image of Henderson's original. Painting is the part I'm really dreading.   ;D

Hi there!

I'm just starting to get into BFG and live down in Southern California.  I have some friends who used to play ages ago and are starting to dust off their models since I've been asking for opponents and I also have a few friends who are interested in learning. Whenever you move down to LA, give me a shout! I game in Pasadena and down in Orange County so hopefully either of those locations will be close to you.

Hey Bro, I'm about a hour east of SF.  We're pretty close to Sacramento (Sac town).  There are some gits sneaking around out her in da wilderness.  I'd be open to doing something some time. (as long as you let me win!)

I'm through Sacratomato and the City a few times a year and can always drag along a fleet :)

I'm near Santa Rosa (north bay). Blind Horizon is also near Sac.

Have been thinking about doing a BFG day at a friend's house in Fairfield, which is fairly central to Sac/SF/North bay. Will try to put something together for july or August.

Sounds very interesting, I don't have any ships at the moment but i could get something cast up hopefully. I am new to the rules but i could also see if i can get Gun_Wun to come up with his orks also. I'm interested in other specialist games as well, so if anyone has an itch to scratch maybe we can see whats what in norcal.

Ok, so far we have:

Duke
capt044
gun_wun
blind horizon
me (timdps)
My buds: Dave, Greg and possibly Alan

Pretty much assuming our mini BFG con will need to be a Saturday in order to maximize gaming time.

Let's start throwing some dates out there. Duke, when will you be settled in enough to to take a day and evening off to game?

I thought my Saturdays were pretty open in July/Aug, but looking at the calendar I see that that is not the case.

Saturdays that work for me are July 26 and Aug 2.

Anyone else?

I'd just have to request some time off is all.

I'm through Sacratomato and the City a few times a year and can always drag along a fleet :)

Would love to finally meet you and get a game in jimmy.

Sundays are possible, just usually makes for a shorter gaming day.

Sundays OK for everyone else?

Title: Re: Any Players in Bay Area/SF?
Post by: timdp on July 04, 2014, 06:51:20 AM
We have played a couple of games. Perhaps Duke or the capt have more experience.
If nothing else we could start off with some smaller games to get used to the rules. Like 500 points with nothing bigger than a cruiser along with some escorts.

Re fleets, my Nurgle fleet is big enough to share/split. and I have a fair amount of Imperial cruisers and escorts.

I’m in Tracy about a hour east of SF, a hour south of Sac town.  If you wanted to meet up at my place I’ve got a 30 X 40 foot open room with Air conditioning.  I also have a bunch of tables and chairs, secure parking and no neighbors.  If we’re looking for a meeting location my place is a option.   We’ve just started playing BFG and have done a bunch of small games.  Shoot we even play with counters at times.  We’re still figuring out the rules and flow of Da Game.  Ahhhhhhh Timdb, why is it you Nurgle folk are always so willing to share…………………………
Title: Re: Any Players in Bay Area/SF?
Post by: capt044 on July 04, 2014, 02:55:23 PM
Sundays generally work for me I am in Livermore so Tracy is great for me.

I haven't played in quite a while. the stores supporting the game just kind of disappeared. But as long as we aren't in a tournament players can resolve the problem and keep the flow of the game moving. Nothing kills the fun like stopping for  a rules check.

Sounds like fun

Your space sounds great Gun, but it makes a 2 hour plus drive for me. The Fairfield location (Gold Hill Rd, just off 680) is just over an hour from Sebastopol, Citrus Heights and Tracy, so is very centrally located

I'm expecting game play to be very casual/fun with newer guys learning the rules.

I’m good with where ever we play, I’m just offering up my fortress as I know I have lots of space, no time constraints, AC, plenty of tables, 12 acres of secure parking and what have you.  Now to be frank it’s convent for me and it means my dogs can hang out too!  Cute little cuddly types……………………………  Ummmmmmm yes, friendly games please!  I’m very new and I prefer good times and good people.  Right now we are using the blue book rules as we figured we should learn the basics before we venture into BFG:R and beyond.  I’m good with what everyone else want to play by, but be nice as you’re getting us up to speed.  If we opt in the end for my place, bad tempered players will be running me Squig Hound gauntlet!  If we play elsewhere then I’ll do the propa Blood Axe thing and disappear and perhaps be waiting in the back of yer ride fer when da game is ova.

Title: Re: Any Players in Bay Area/SF?
Post by: timdp on July 06, 2014, 03:23:50 AM
So the possible Sunday dates are July 27 or Aug 3rd. Still waiting for a confirmation from Greg as to whether either of the dates will work for him.

Rules: Was thinking about starting with the blue book just to get everyone up to speed with the basics of the game. Would like to move to BGR relatively quickly because the points costs are more balanced. This is obviously open for discussion...

Gun wun, sounds like your place would be perfect for a full weekend BFG minicon, assuming there is overnight floor/crash space. We have done these at Greg's or my place occasionally. Two days of gaming makes the two hour drive worthwhile...

What i'm thinking about the rules is, if we just start learning BFG:R I would be interested in doing that. But I am with what everyone else thinks. I'm a little lost on which rules to start looking at when i went to the afterimagedan Blog, can someone in the know post a link to the rules i should start off looking at?

I'm not sure i can work with this dates, and heres why. I cast miniature for clients, i don't have a dedicated casting area right now and my girls grand parents said i could use their garage  the last half of july to get some casting in. I have some stuff i have to get cast on my days off from work for these clients. So i am not to sure if those will work for me. I'll have to keep you guys posted.

Yes, I have crash space as long as you don’t mind the sounds of Squig Hounds in the back ground.  Once I secure you in “Da Bunka” all will be safe (ok I’m getting a little carried away) You’re good to go for sleeping if we opt to go that route.  Ummmmmmmm perhaps with Blind’s casting situation and us figuring out which rule set we’re going to use it’s best to push it off until fall.  Say October/November?  I also got a heater if need be.  As for rule sets again I’m open.  We’ve been using the Blue book as we wanted to get the basics down.  Now correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t BFG:R still in the works?  I’m waiting for final word on Da Ork Fleets.  I’m wanting to make the jump to BFG:R so please advise!

Ummmmmmmm perhaps with Blind’s casting situation and us figuring out which rule set we’re going to use it’s best to push it off until fall.  Say October/November?

I would like to move forward with the current suggested dates. There will ALWAYS be someone who can't make ANY given date and its still possible that Blind could make it. Would like to get this gaming project moving  now and then plan an additional (perhaps longer) get together in the fall.

Would like to go with the blue book rules until people have the basic play mechanics figured out. Switching to BFG:R does not look very complicated. Current state of BFG:R downloads are here:

Woah, I'm pretty impressed guys. The forum moves slowly, but when a topic picks up, it stays up.  ;D

I'm incredibly busy as of late, so I dunno if I can make anything that's over an hour out of the Bay. But that doesn't mean I'll never be up for it!

As for rules: if we're all out of shape, then small games of 500-1000 should do initially. I would hope to go ahead and start using the FAQ2010 adjustments right away, as that seems to be the standard internationally (lol).

Also: I'm looking to buy an Apocalypse Model Battleship. If anyone has an unused one lying around, I'd like to talk to them. ;)

@Timdp: My partner lives in Rohnert Park. Maybe I could swing by one of these days....

PMs have been sent with the BFG day address.

So lets talk about the first couple of games. Might speed things up if everyone had fleet lists for the first two games ready to go when they arrive.

Was thinking the first game could be 500 points, regular cruisers and escorts only (no aircraft).
Second game 500 points with aircraft.
Third game

Thoughts?
Title: Re: Any Players in Bay Area/SF?
Post by: Blindhorizon on July 18, 2014, 04:08:31 AM
I really like that, as i will be playing my first ever game and cramming the rules in also!

500 points sounds good, i'll post what i will be bringing here just so people in the know can critique my list.

Blind-

EDIT: perhaps the third game we could pair up into groups with two people bringing their 2nd battle armies together to create a 1kvs1k battle, so people can learn from eachother?  OR if thats not good with people, doesn't matter either way to me... i don't know what a good point value for a more intense game of BFG would be but i'm in on that too.

Title: Re: Any Players in Bay Area/SF?

1000 pts sounds about right to me
Title: Re: Any Players in Bay Area/SF?
Post by: Blindhorizon on July 21, 2014, 11:42:57 AM
So i'm not exactly sure what i need to be looking for, but i figure the best way for me to find out is to get smashed on and find out what everything is about.

So my tentative list, unless someone really thinks i shouldn't go with it is going to be.

Strike cruiser
Strike cruiser
3x Cobra destroyer
3x Cobra destroyer
Total points:500

Unless someone thinks i should just do a formation of 6 cobras.

Hi Guys,

Greg has suggested a possible alternative gaming site: the gaming room at Forgotten Paths game store in Vacaville. It is right off the 80 freeway.
Forgotten Path Games
850 Alamo Dr
Vacaville, CA 95688
Here is their (very weak) web site: http://www.forgottenpathgames.com/
This will add 10-15 minutes maximum to drivers from Tracy/Livermore and Santa Rosa and shorten the trip for Sac area drivers by the same amount.

Dave and Greg say the gaming area is HUGE with lots of tables, so plenty of room to spread out. Should have photos later this week.

Advantages
More space
Greg does not have to completely rearrange his furniture and I don't have to bring extra chairs.
Food is closer (some in the shopping center and some across the freeway).

Disadvantages
Shorter gaming time. Sunday hours are noon til 8pm
Other gamers(?)

Thoughts?

the group should decide whether it will allow proxies. If so then I have a Daunless model you could proxy for a 3rd stoke cruiser if you wanted to
Title: Re: Any Players in Bay Area/SF?
Post by: timdp on July 23, 2014, 05:27:24 PM
Given how hard/expensive it is to get models now, I would imagine allowing proxies is pretty much a requirement now. Blind is also making alternate ships...

Loaner ships
I will have 12 random Imperial cruisers as well as Cobras and frigates to loan for anyone who does not have ships.
Will also have enough Nurgle fleet ships to loan a out 1500 to 2000 points in addition the what I am using.
Could also bring a Space Marine fleet with a number of strike cruisers, although the fleet is only primed black.

Here is a pic of the game room at Forgotten Realms. Looks like there is plenty of room, although we will have to put tables together to get 4' wide tables.

Da plan! (subject to modification by discussion)
Meet at the store around 11:30 with your lunch for meet and greet.
Basking Robbins, Donut Queen, Thai Rest., and Round table Pizza in the shopping center. Fast food restaurants are just on the other side of the freeway on Alamo Drive.

Noon: Set up tables and play
I have starfield tablecloths big enough for two tables. Would be nice if someone brought one or two more.

Bring:
Lunch
Dice & tape measures
BFG order dice and counters
Ships

Game 1: 500 points: nothing heaver than a regular cruiser, no aircraft.

Game 2: 1000 points: full game with aircraft and leaders

Game 3: To be decided

I have measuring sticks, but no order dice, and counters. And only 2 strike cruisers and 5 hunter proxies. I may be watching the second game, this will be my first ever playing of BFG. I have been reading the rulebook trying to understand everything, i think it will make more sense once i lose my first game.

So which ordinance marker size are we using? 2cmx2cm? And with the torp markers, are we using the ones in the link you posted? I'm not sure if this is printing in the right size, it might be but to confirm what is the diameter of the nova cannon template? If it is the same that i print i will assume everything is printing the right size. I measure 1.5inch template.

I'm not going to worry about ord base sizes. I have fighters and bombers on wide ones with torps and assault craft on square ones and am not likely to change them.

For torps I assume we will go to 2cm x 2cm pretty quickly (say for anything we do after this meeting), so you might want to use the 3 torp counters only. Nova cannon and bearing compass templates are 2" in diameter.

Also: everyone please have your 500 and 1000 point fleet already written up on the Fleet Registry sheets so we can start gaming immediately after setting up the tables.

Hey guys,

I'm brand new to the forums and my brother and I just getting back into BFG after ~10 years of completely forgetting about it.  He's leaving the area soon though, which means I'll have lost my only opponent!  I'm in SF and am extremely interested in joining in on the fun.

I've got a Necron fleet with the following models:
Tombship - 1
Scythe - 2
Shroud - 1
Jackal - 9
Dirge - 3

I just looked up BFG:R today after reading through the previous posts, and it looks like I can adapt my fleet list to pretty much any points limitation.

TL:DR - I'm in the area and eager to play.  When are you guys thinking of getting together next?

I could do that.  How do you imagine that working? Do game stores typically just let you set up?

Yes sir it's part of their bread and butter to let people hang out and game in their store.

Hypothetically, would you be available this Sunday 8/31? I might actually be in your area this weekend.

By the way, if nobody else is interested in joining we can just pm each other the specifics, not sure if others are being spammed by forum notifications.

I wish I could I work nights though, I'm super busy with school starting. I'd have to plan something ahead of time if I can get a game in.

OK folks, we were talking about another BFG day in October. Can we get some dates going?
Weeknds are 4-5, 11-12, 18-19, 25-26, Nov 1-2. Seems like Sundays work better because of Saturday work schedules?

I'm out for the 5th and the 18-19 weekend.

Good deal, does this mean we have a "Green Light" for the 2nd?  If so what rule set are we playing with?  Still "Da Blu book" or are we going to move into BFG:R?

Got an email from gun he told me the thread was discussing game dates, I'd love to be able to make it but I'm moving into a new house on the 1st if I can find one. Timing just isn't right for me on this one, I don't think I'll be able to make it. Pretty sure but there's a possible chance but I'm sure the lady wouldn't be happy :)

Hi Mac,

BFG day is Sunday Nov. 2nd at the Forgotten Paths game store in Vacaville, starting at noon (when they open). Should have at least 6 players. Probably best to already have eaten lunch before noon so we can immediately set up and play.

http://www.forgottenpathgames.com/

We will be using updated BFG: Revised fleet lists which can be found here:
http://afterimagedan.blogspot.nl/2012/10/battlefleet-gothicrevised.html

No idea what kind of games we will actually be doing and am open to suggestions. Last time played we played a round of small two player games and then one mass game.
Set up 1000 and 1500 point lists?

Have one BB built as well as some strike cruisers, but they are just based black in prep for being painted as Dark Angels legion.

Looks like we will have at least 6 players, although more likely 8.

Store does not open until noon (remember the time change). Eat lunch before arriving so we can set up and start playing immediately.

Have 1000 and 1500 point fleet lists ready to go.

If anyone can bring a space playmat (even just black cloth), it would help. I can do two tables, but we may well need four tables and we want them to look pretty!

See y'all soon,

Tim

Sorry to spring this on you at this late date, but I finally found the rules that we should be using.

Regarding rules (not fleet lists)....

Found this from Horizon on May 16 2013

For me at the moment:
standard rulebook from GW (1.5)
+ FAQ 2010 & Compendium

Other things:
* Blastmarker rules from rulebook v1.0
* Eldar MMS v1.9b
* No overlapping rules from FAQ2010 (yuckerd)

Rulebook 1.5

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B0u0W0D0eEcRYl9Gd2NxQTlCUWc&usp=sharing
You need the PDF called Armada & BFG Rulebook. and FAQ 2010

The rulebook PDF's are:

    BFG Basic rules
    BFG Advanced rules
    BFG 41st Millennium

So these are the rules we are using, but we have bfgr for fleet lists correct?

Also I have two forum members from tactical command coming down to game also, they haven't played in a long time but are ready and willing to play.

I'm still unsure if I will make it as I work tomorrow at 430, I'd have to leave at three to make it to work on time.

Well that was fun! Gaming was a huge improvement over how my day had been going...
We had 8 players and had four 1500 point games.  Most of us are noobs, so games took longer than they needed to, but at least we we all learned a lot.

6 Jackals
4 Dirges

Tau
2 Custodian Carriers
4 Protector Cruisers
2 Emissary Cruisers

Yay pics! Thanks Gun!

Welcome PzKpfwCrusader. Next game probably will not happen until after the holidays, perhaps early January. Info and updates will be posted here.

For the last battle we used  “standard rulebook from GW (1.5) + FAQ 2010 & Compendium”.  Are we going to move to BFG:R or continue to use that rule set?

Ah yes, rules... That did not work out terribly well. Need to do more research. The only parts of the BFG:R rules that are done and/or are being worked on are the fleet lists. The rules part is in limbo development wise. Dave found a more developed version. I will get the URL from him and post it here and we can discuss what we want to do.

Happy New Year everyone!

My schedule has been and continues to be pretty crazy till well into February but there are a couple of things I wanted to mention.

Saw this on DAKKA:

Subject: Teaching Battlefleet Gothic (1/24, SF Bay Area)
I will be teaching Battlefleet Gothic at Game Kastle Santa Clara at 1:00 pm on Saturday, 1/24. There will be some old hands at it, along with a few newbies. If you've always wanted to learn BFG, or if you're already a pro looking for a game, swing by.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/631626.page

I won't be around, but it might be useful for someone to go and make contact with this group for networking purposes and enlarging the Bay Area BFG group.

Next up is Dundracon, coming up Feb 13-15 in San Ramon (http://www.dundracon.com/).
There is one BFG event on the schedule, and if we brought BFG stuff we could probably get a few games done in the the Open Gaming room. Dave, Greg and I will be there, we just need to decide whether to bring BFG stuff or not.

BFG at Dundracon!

We did manage to get a game in on Sat night (from 8:00pm-3:00am!). 2000 points of Death Guard vs a Space Marine fleet with a couple of Imperial Dominators. Reuben came up with the objective: get as many boarding parties onto the "Death Star" (see pics) as possible during the game.

Death Guard Fleet
Despoiler
Repulsive
Styx
Slaughter
2 x Murder
6 x Iconoclast

DG fleet roars onto the table (AAF) and dumps 16 Deathclaws and 6 boarding torpedoes, all of which make it to the station giving us good lead.

Pic is about turn 3 after a very bad  orders phase in which neither the Despoiler or Styx are able to reload
(http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b44/timdps/Battlefleet%20Gothic/DSCN6091_zps30f9b33f.jpg) (http://s16.photobucket.com/user/timdps/media/Battlefleet%20Gothic/DSCN6091_zps30f9b33f.jpg.html)

Then things got hairy! Near the end of the game. One Slaughter and one Murder and a couple of the Iconos are dead. Really came down to an ordnance battle and the DG were hurting badly at the end of the game, but we managed to get 32 boarding parties (mostly Chaos Marines) onto the station compared to 22 for the Marines. Was a vicious battle but everyone had fun. Inexperience hurts: I should have pumped out a bunch of bombers instead of Deathclaws to try to damage the Imperial ships.

The glorious Iconoclast squadron. Started with six but managed to end the game with three left after being in the thick of things.

Another BFG game that was in the program and I tried to get into but failed. Should have gotten the names of the guys running it. Mostly beginners playing.

Hey all, just found this forum recently and I'm delighted to find more bfg players in the Sacto area.  My brother and I are bfg fanatics and have been trying to cultivate our own group.  I play mainly Orks, with easily 5k+ points, my brother plays primarily Chaos with at least 8k in his collection.  We have a similar size of Imperial ships, 3k-4k of Eldar, and half a handful of SM and Tau ships.

Anyone looking to meet up in the Sacramento area for some games?

I don't have a lot of free time, i am based in citrus heights and would be interested in getting a game together sometime. Do you and your brother play with the updated fleetlists from afterimagedan starship blog? I won't lie i don't really have a handle on the rules we recently just started getting groups together to game, i mostly dabble in the modeling and resin casting side of the hobbie. I am never opposed to venting orks into space though.

Ran a game at KublaCon last Friday. We had signups for eight players, so I opted for 2000 points per side. As is fairly normal only four players showed up, but three of them had played before so we kept it at 2000 points. We played Planetary assault, with my Nurgle fleet attempting to assault the planet.

Death Guard
Terminus Est
Retaliator Grand Cruiser
Styx
Desastation
2 x Murder
Carnage
Slaughter
6 x Iconoclast
8 x Transports

Imperials
Emperor
Mars
Armageddon
Lunar
Tyrant
Dominator
Gothic
Dictator
6 x Sword
5 x Cobra
5 x Planetary Defense Platforms

Per the scenario rules, Imperials could set up in the gravity well of the defended planet or on patrol. They opted for a battlecruiser and four cruisers on patrol and rolled badly, allowing the Chaos players to set up one battlecruiser and one cruiser anywhere in the Imperial deployment zone.

Imperial start (Death Star is the "planet")
(http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b44/timdps/Battlefleet%20Gothic/Imp%20start_zpspjfeu1es.jpg) (http://s16.photobucket.com/user/timdps/media/Battlefleet%20Gothic/Imp%20start_zpspjfeu1es.jpg.html)

Chaos deployed the wayward cruisers nearest the Chaos deployment zone facing away from the Chaos fleet.
Chaos turn one: chasing (and blasting) the cruisers:

Chaos turn 2. Battlecruiser is now a drifting hulk and the other cruiser has blown up.
(http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b44/timdps/Battlefleet%20Gothic/Ch%20turn2_zpsmknyr8qx.jpg) (http://s16.photobucket.com/user/timdps/media/Battlefleet%20Gothic/Ch%20turn2_zpsmknyr8qx.jpg.html)

Turn 3. Fleets engage at close range
(http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b44/timdps/Battlefleet%20Gothic/Ch%20turn%203_zpsloytsbkv.jpg) (http://s16.photobucket.com/user/timdps/media/Battlefleet%20Gothic/Ch%20turn%203_zpsloytsbkv.jpg.html)

Turn 4. Two more Imperial cruisers are destroyed and explode. Terminus Est and escorting cruiser launch fighters (to take out Imp bombers from from Emperor) and assault claws at the Emperor. After a large number of hit and run attacks, the Emperor has damaged engines, prow and dorsal weapons and port weapons leaving it only starboard weapons. At this point the Imperials conceded the battle. In addition to the lost battlecruiser and three cruisers, two more of the Imperials cruisers were crippled and only one Sword and two Cobras remained. Chaos losses were five Iconlclasts and one transport. Slaughter and one Murder were crippled. Did not recover the Terminus Est sheet, but I think it had four or five damage. Chaos made very good use of lock on orders, although reloading ordnance was a problem for all but Terminus Est. Everyone was a bit rusty on the rules, which probably led to tactical mistakes on the Imperial side. Chaos tactics were just move and shoot...We did use all my blast markers so I will need to get a few more...

Any updates on that potential meetup?  I'm hoping the dice will perform better than they have for me lately in the local 7 player campaign we've been running, absolutely dismal luck to the point where my local defense force of a cruiser and  escorts had to run from 3 hostile escorts after losing 2 hits and 6 escorts while only inflicting 1 casualty....

Hi Goth,

Welcome to the greater bay area. Looks like everyone is too busy with summer stuff to do any BFG.
BFG at Pacificon is a possibility, but there is another con (Celesticon) that weekend that some people seem to favor. Don't know what I am doing that weekend yet.

I will be running BFG on Saturday morning at Pacificon.

SciFi/Fantasy Miniatures
Event JS-223
Sat 9:00AM
to 2:00PM

The Hive World Xerxes is the lynchpin of Imperial defenses. If it falls, an entire sector will be doomed. Fleet command has strained every nerve for its defense. Game can be scaled to the number of players to allow for fast play.

What rules will you be using classic big with 2010faq?

Post by: LeperColony on August 20, 2015, 03:51:01 PM
Mostly classic + 2010, but there are a few things in the FAQ I don't subscribe to, like 360 degree blast markers.

Couldn't make it unfortunately. Just too much other things, all due to something called "life" preventing me. Have fun! Best of luck to all Admirals.

Tim, thanks for the game!  Your ships are beautiful.  Now if you could only find some dice with 5's and 6's on them, you'd be golden!

By the way, we have a Bay Area BFG players facebook page.  Right now it has 28 members.  It's a closed group, so you need an invite to join, but if you're interested PM me your Facebook info and I'll send you one.

And thank you for the game Jeff. Worst dice rolling I have EVER had in ANY game...unbelievable. I killed a total of a couple of transports and one escort and crippled none of your ships? What is really weird about my dice polling in that game is that those are brand new casino dice, so should be rolling a bit more average.

Woohoo! FINALLY got on this forum. I've been trying to make accounts for months and it kept saying my account doesn't exist.

I play out of Game Kastle Santa Clara with a friend. I've got ~3k of Imperials and Eldar, 2k of Necrons of Chaos and will probably working on scratch building a Tyranid fleet. It seems like a large amount of the players in the bay are up near Vacaville which is a bit further than I'm willing to travel for a game (2.5 hours or so each way depending on traffic), but I thought I'd introduce myself regardless.

Welcome GD!

Some of us are north bay/Sac, but there are definitely some south bay BFG folks around, although they may not have found this forum yet.

Jeff (LeperColony) has been trying to organize games at Game Kastle SC and is planning one this Saturday.

2.5 hours to Vacaville? Google maps says 1.5 hours without traffic. We usually play on Sunday so traffic going is not bad. Return traffic might be a problem though.

Yeah, thankfully I should be able to make it to the gathering in SC this Saturday.

My experience w/ Vacaville is 2-2.5 hours each way from when I used to go to Warmachine tournaments up there.

Edit: Just to clarify, I live in the peninsula, not Santa Clara which means a fair bit of time is eaten up by bridges instead of bypassing the bay entirely.
