Hello guys,
This seller MORIGAN70 is selling loads of recasted rare stuff. He has been doing that for months now.
http://www.ebay.com/sch/morrigan70/m.html
Warmaster hammerers, foret gobelins, teutogen guard...
Warhammer unreleased rare stuff. Things going for hundredth of $ sometime.
A warning has been sent on the Citadel Collector group about him. So i repeat it here.

Good Intel. I'll cross post to taccoms
-
yep, recasts for sure... and not only because it's so many rare and unreleased stuff on one spot...
-
If it is reasonably priced then who cares? Collectors feeling that their collections are being devalued?
I would rather see a swathe of cheap recasts allowing people to play the games with whatever they want rather than hear about someones vast collection and how valuable it is.
Whatever is best for the hobby IMO
-
It's not so much the idea of recasts, frogbear, it's them kind of releasing one or two and attempting to get the full inflated price when what they are selling might have lots of faults and be much lower quality than an official first hand one.
-
Same opinion. I have recasted myself some of my items, and proposed them to friends or other peoples. But i always sold them saying they where recasts and certainly not at high price.
This is just the difference between being honest and not :)

Any pics of the stuff he sells ? :) Just curious and he dosent have any items on sale right now.

Here is a message send on the Collecting Citadel Miniatures Yahoo group. From the person who bought the jester with no legs.
Hi everyone,
my name is Christian and I am new on the list. I roam the wargames scene as "cianty".
I joined this group after reading on Tom's Mordheim Forum about the potential(?) recasts up on ebay. Well, guess what comes now... I read that thread after winning the Jester auction - Yay!
I picked the model up from the post office today and now I am obviously wondering whether it is authentic or not. Luckily I am in the position of already having a Jester (from a more reliable source) for comparison, even if now painted.

Yes, I'll admit that little Jester is guily miniature please - I love the sculpt. :)
Anyway, so I took a close at the figure. It looks to be of pretty good quality - the details look sharp, the metal is shinily white. Of course I wanted to believe that it is authentic but I kept looking and found basically two areas that raised my suscipion...
I put up comparison photos of the original painted jester and the "new" one (pun intended) here:

Now I would veeery much appreciate your expertise feedback on this. Do you think the model is an original one? Do you have any tips on how to find it out reliably (preferrably methods that don't involve cutting him open and counting rings or dissolving poor Jes').
Thanks for any help you can provide!
Cheers
Chris

Yep, that's me alright. ;D

Well to be honest I knew few guys who were recasting miniatures for their group. They usually bought a 40k exclusive mini and then make a copy for each one of them. The casting was top notch, there was just no waaay anyone would even suspect that those were recasted models. Even the material was clearly the "white metal" GW used so the color was also perfect.
-
I have no problem buying re casts IF the product is long OOP and the quality is very high.

^^ +1
-
^^ +1 as well, but with the important point that it shouldn't be claimed to be original, and the price shouldn't be anywhere near the price of an original.
-
I agree it shouldn't be misrepresented as an original.
As to the price...... the market decides that!

Just curious, doesn't recasting violate copyright laws and such? Shouldn't it be illegal to sell recasts on eBay?
I'm actually not against recasting, especially for OOP minis, just curious as to the legal side of things. Can anyone offer any advice on that?
-
It is illegal, but chasing it is near impossible. Even if you let eBay know, they'll pull the auction and maybe ban the account, but it's easy to make a new account and go again...
-
Paying premium only to recieve a copy pisses me off!
Knowing it's a copy beforehand you can at least make a choice to support the IP infringement in question or not.
-
Totaly illegal, of course. What else ?!
