Hi there,
is there currently such a thing as a Warmaster FAQ?
Thanks,

You could check this board or simply ask your doubt here.

Ya, nothing comprehensive. My advice is to re-read the rules every once in awhile, you find a lot you've missed the first couple of times.

Hey, I have one question:
My cavalry Advanced to spearman unit touched by edge to edge. But they touched by corner archers too. By rounds spearmen unit was killed.
Does the fight continue if I want to pursue archers (If I can?) ?
How (if) are cavalry stands moved to touch the archers?
Thanx

If you advanced into the spearmen you shouldn't have ended up in a position like that. An advance is treated like a charge so you would move the closest stand into contact with the closest enemy. After that, move the other stands trying to maximize frontage within the limits of your move (20cm if you're advancing after the first round of combat, 10cm any round after that). You're only allowed to wrap around like you did in a pursuit (and when you do, make sure you don't box out one stand like you did as it can't attack).
In any case, you would have ended up in contact with both the spearmen and the archers, which is fine. They both would have fought (one stand each, -1 attack dice each due to flanking) and each wouldn't be able to claim support because they were being hit in the flank.

Indeed looking at your image, your advance should have been in to the archers first, so 1st stand into flank of archers and my understanding a stand of cavalry each side of the initial stand, no flanking.
Had the archers been facing you they could have fired, but as it was their flank they couldn't [there are some that can fire to side e.g. gobos/wolf riders.]
I am also of the opinion that the defender would get two supporting points from the stands to their left.

Assuming you're talking about the post-flanking stage, Dave is right- there'd be no support points due to the flanking.

If the usual push-back from combat causes another unit to get caught up, that unit just joins the fight. No stand and shoot though, I'm pretty sure, and no charge bonuses or pursuit bonuses on that unit. It's not an overrun or anything, so long as your original combat opponent is still engaged.
My memory on this is a bit rusty, but I think that's how it works.

I was I was arguing that Dave's point was wrong as I was under the opinion that a stand still received support if hit in the flank. As far as I was aware the only penalty for being hit in the flank is -1 attacks.

It would seem that I am wrong.
Note that a
stand touched by enemy to its front and sides or rear
during the combat round can be supported, but a
stand touched by enemy only to its sides or rear
cannot.
You think you know a rule and then you find you don't ! :(
