Hey,
I wonder whether any of you have experience how to judge the battle outcome. What victory point ratio is still a draw, what is victory, significant victory or massacre. Does anyone use similar table as there's for WH? As you can mostly destroy only half of the opponent's army in WM, it would obviously work different.
And if there is a ratio, is it applicable to all game formats (e.g. 1000 points, or 2500 points)?
We have started to play Mighty empire campaign and you gaing Campaign points acording to how big your victory is.
Thanx

As the rules says:
If you have more victory points and you break your opponent then you have a victory.
If you have more points and the opponent breaks you, it is a draw.
If no one breaks, then the win is for the one with more victory points.
I would use as a houserule.
Breakpoint + Vicotry points --> major victory
No brekpoint , Victory points --> minor victory
Breakpoint + but the enemy have more victory points than you --> draw

Sounds very interesting but arouses new questin aswell. How many turns do you usually play? We usually play 8 turns (end after 6th on roll of 6, after 7th on roll of 4+). But one side always breaks before the end of the game.

When the breakpoint is reached the game ends inmediately. It means that when the unit that complete the breakpoint is destroyed then the games stops the rest of the phase is not played. So I the order of resolution of combat in the phase is important if you will reach the breakpoint of your opponent and you want to score the max number of victory points.

As the rules says the duration of the game is determined by a roll before the game (so both players know the lenth of the game before the game starts)
1D6
1-2 means 6 turn
3-4 means 7 turns
5-6 means 8 turns
[page 79 of the spanish version, do not have here the english version, but the section is Battlefield - Lenth of the battle, warning above sentence is not a quote]
There are also scenario rules or house rules.
When we was playing a campaing with the campaing rules WMAArmies slightly modificated, you gained a territory and a unit upgrade if you won. But if you managed to break your opposite army or you managed to kill the enemy general then the victorious general will gain a General upgrade.
So sometimes when palying, if you see you are going to loose, then the priority was defending to avoid being break in order to negate the general upgrade to your enemy. It was fun.

Hello.
After many years of hosting tournaments, a point-system to determine the over-all outcome of the battle has emerged.
It takes into account your killings of enemy units, your own units that survived, in which turn the break comes (if it does) and "the winner" gets awarded.
The background comes from a need to find a way to show the battle-outcome, in a way more "close-to-battlefield"-review then just what win/draw/lose gives.
Kills - sum the points-value of all killed enemy units (no further explanations needed)
Survivors - subtract the sum of the points-value of all own units that got killed, from the armys total points-value (compared to Kills this shows how well the battle went for you)
TurnOfBreak - the earlier in the game the break comes, the more it is worth for the breaking side
Win/Draw/Lose - the side that gets a "Breaking Win", should of-course be rewarded
To calculate this, an equation is used: [Kills] + [Survivors] + [(7-TurnOfBreak)x200] + [600/300/0] = BattlePoints
(most battles ends about turn 4/5, but in a Tournament the game is halted after turn 6)
Example 1
Chaos makes a Break in turn 4 and has killed off 725p of HE, but has lost 850p along the battle.
Chaos: 725+(2000-850)+(7-4)x200+300 = 725+1150+600+300 = 2775 BP
HE: 850+(2000-725)+0+300 = 850+1275+0+300 = 2425 BP
Review: a Draw to Chaos because of the Break. "Winning the Day" (Break) is well awarded.
The fact that Chaos has taken less points, and also may have lost big if they did not Break the HE, is reflected by the small diff in BP.
Example 2
Chaos makes a Break in turn 5 and has killed off 850p of HE, but has lost 725p along the battle.
Chaos: 850+(2000-725)+(7-5)x200+600 = 850+1275+400+600 = 3125 BP
HE: 725+(2000-850)+0+0 = 725+1150+0+0 = 1875 BP
Review: a Major Win to Chaos. Again "Winning the Day" awards.
Despite small diff in taken points, the fact that Chaos broke HE and had the upper-hand point-wise, is very well awarded in BP diff.
Example 3
The rulebook states, if there is no Break, the side that has taken most points, is the Winner.
So if one side kills but one soldier more, this side is considered to be the "Winner of the Day" (what!?)
The system gives less then 50 BP in diff, a True Draw, which any spectator of the Battlefield would confirm.
There may be some battle outcomes that is not "well-reviewed" by this system. But probably 9 out of 10 is.
Last: This system is Trademarked by Nemo&Ola ;)

Hello Guys,
thanks for the ideas so far.
We use a quite easy sytem that is proofen for games between 1.000 and 2.000 points (larger games have not been playd with it). But I think it could work in generally.
reached breakpoint + not more than 10% more victory points than the enemy = draw
reached breakpoint + between more than 10% and double more victory points than the enemy = minor victory
reached breakpoint + at least double of the victory points than the enemy = major victory
reached breakpoint + at least three times of the victory points than the enemy = massacre
For example
Player 1: 1.000 VP
Player 2: 920 VP
= draw
Player 1: 1.000 VP
Player 2: 750 VP
= minor victory
Player 1: 1.000 VP
Player 2: 450 VP
= major victory
Player 1: 1.000 VP
Player 2: 300 VP
= massacre
So really easy.
Just give it a try and you see how it works (mostely the system "feels right")!
greetings
