Hi guys I have been keeping a log of Middle Earth Warmaster stuff on other sites. I wanted to host it here to show it to a more specialised crowd that might enjoy warmaster (on other forums saying you play warmaster is like confessing to the plague).
So here are a selection of bits I have been doing. I plan to keep it going as all my armies increase at a steady pace, I would love any C&C aswell as any ideas for other stuff to make. Im planning for a fairly comprehensive collection.
(Apologies if you have seen it before there will be new stuff soon!)

There has been alot of progress since these pictures were uploaded, as soon as I have a good photographing session there will be updates aplenty! I hope you enjoy.

Looks very very good, neaty work.
I particulary like the rohan archers with the banner of the horse head.
Also the goblin base is very very original
looking forward to see more middle earth stuff

These miniatures look wonderful :o
Great job!

I've seen and admired these figures before. You've really captured the look of the LOTR characters (the hobbits and the Nazgul are my favourites). I think I'd have been tempted to base characters on coins/washers rather than on the raised bases but having seen these I'm not so sure as the larger bases really set them off nicely. It seems like 10mm scale is perfect to recreate the large battles in the books. It's like LOTR Apocalypse style. You should definately show us some more of this stuff.
-
jchaos79 - You should have seen the five or six attempts at that banner I tried befor... They were awful! I still think that even this one looks too cartoony.
Meister.Petz - Thankyou.
pw - When I first started playing warmaster I would have scoffed at the idea of using warhammer bases instead of coins. Im not sure where if first changed over but they give the characters so much more presence on the battlefield! To me they feel more like tiny dioramas on these bases. As for big battles I am having alot of trouble sticking to one force for too long so I have about 100-500pts of several forces basically done but no army is complete.
Two new projects on the horizon that i need some help with is finding enough models to use as dragons, either winged, giant lizards or huge serpents. The other is I want to build forces for the army of the dead but after scouring Talkien lore I cannot find too much of a description of them... Any ideas of models to use? Hopefully on the cheap and I dont mind a slight lesser quality seeing as they will be painted with almost no deatail as ehereal wraiths.
Im really glad that some people enjoy these guys... They get too few actual games and sometimes it can be hard to keep painting stuff that you have to mkae the rules for aswell as find a chance to play with them.

If you mean the guys that Aragorn picks up and brings on the Black Ship(s)....
there is little reference but if you go with the context of LotR set in a more or less medival setting, then the Army of the Death has been that (or rather Dead) for some time. Similar development paterns would then suggest a(ny) dark ages force, or even romans. As you say, it will be all in the "painting".

Have you looked at the dragons in the Collector's Range on GW's online store? The Marauder Dragon and Venom Wyrm both look like decent sizes for WM. For something really impressive the Dragon Riders dragon is really nice. It'd be a very big 10mm dragon but it is nice and thin so t wouldn't look too gigantic (now I'm wishing I hadn't sold mine!).

I always love the Granadier range of dragons (now reaper miniatures) Some of them could be massive figures. http://www.cheddarmongers.org/prod/pic/Bossco101/Dragonsofthemonth/
They are nice, even granadier had a range of huge dragons, maybe could fit with Ankalagor the Black Dragon.
I post three pics of a granadier model to have a reference of the size (and yes... my smaug is blue.... do not question)

I understood from the Tolkien book that they are ethereal wraiths, so the count vampire wraiths models could fit with this idea. Also pendraken FU14 Wraiths/Spirits are in the same line.
If you prefere a GW idea of the them (undead painted in blue and white), you could take the range of pendraken undeads because they have a very little gear (naked to the bone) and paint them blue? I dont know if they are going to be pretty, maybe. Also in this line the Tomb guard from GW in the count vampire army could be skeleton more "europeans" and "medieval" and could work as living undeads from the ancient middle age people.
-
I have seen these before and they are very nice.
As for named dragons of middleearth if anyone finds a nice range then please post here.
-
These might be useful.

I think there was a post over on the last alliance site but it appears to be down.
Apparently they are of a simlar scale to smaug.
-
I bought a bunch of the Dennis Mize dragons from the Dark Sword Visions in Fantasy range.
LINK (http://darkswordminiatures.com/visions_gallery.html)
They are the exact same size as the BoFA Smaug model, and the aesthetics are generally the same.

Not wanting to thread jack, but with the release of Steve Barber's Zulu figures:
http://www.sbarber-models.clara.net/main.html
I am considering a Far Harad contingent for WM-ME and am stumped as to what to use for Half-Trolls
So far all I can come up with is Pendraken's Troll Chief. A "true" 15 mm Hairy Barbarian would work, any ideas.
And I'll echo the comments that Angor's banner work is very impressive and the WM-ME stuff is grand.
Anyone compare Kallistra to Copplestone? My understanding is that they are both large 10's

Thanks for the comments, especially the banners... They all took alot of repainting, sadly the detail is lost on the gaming board and at a close look is cartoony. But I am just complaining now.
Those are some awesome dragons, I have a good list of ones I want to use now and their new list needs to be properly playtested befor I can buy any. Oh and the dragon masters dragon is beautiful... I still plan on getting it for my chaos army as a character mount, its huge and I cant wait to use it!
One model I really like is for Glaurung, one of my favourite dragons. Its the Barbed razerdon from gamesworkshop. It has a suitably evil look and I think it will look great with a really dark colour scheme. Although... if anyone has any better suggestions I am defiatly open to them, this guy may be a little small and maybe a little too spikey.
LizardmenRazordon (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/common/xLargeProductImage.jsp?mWidth=873px&mURL=/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m2210018_99060208086_LizardmenRazordon1_873x627.jpg&mAlt=Lizardmen+Razordon+Hunting+Pack&mHeight=627px)
For the army of the dead I still havent set my heart on any models in particular (probably something from Pendrakens dark ages era I imagine) I am already planning on using the warhammer spirit hosts for 'Evil spirits' in some of the Mordor lists.
I have always admired Steve Barbers sculpts from afar, they are awesome and now that there are some zulus I think I will have to venture to far harad aswell! Please if you have your own Middle Earth stuff feel free to add it to this plog.
-
MY EIR are all Steve Barber models, and when Steve announced his Zulu War range yesterday, it certainly elicited an 'oooh' from me. One of my favourite films to paint to is of course Zulu, and I've got an in-progress Praetorian Guard army fro 40K that has been slowly painted since they first came out, and have always fancied the idea of sculpting and then casting some for an Epic army...

Hi gues this is just a quick update of some work in progress stuff...
A bunch of new toys arrived yesterday!
Saruman ready to order some new Uruks in to battle!
Thesea re just my old Uruks but rebased to work better as pikemen.
The fellowship, alot of them need a little work to neaten them up a bit, I still need to paint that damn elf Legolas aswell.
And some Dunlandings have had some paint too... The banner needs some work as its very dark and the boarder is a little wonky.
-
Very nice work, the fellowship looks totally awesome! Thanks to you I now have to buy those miniatures as well. :)
-
Very nice job! I like the saruman figure, very pretty.
The Coppelstone gandalfs are really good, but in my opinion the sorceror in the GW pack of characters of vampire counts (I do not know the name of the necromacner) is perfect to make a Gandalf too. I am refering to the one with a conical high hat and robes.
looking forward to see more middle earth stuff

Nop, no kallistra in my box. But I have pendraken, and for what I know the bulk of fantasy kallistra miniatures are from the molds of pendraken.
I could take some shots if you are intersted.
I have a question: Who is this little dude. He is the same as the heros character and his carry an axe.
-
Just guessing, but my money is on Faramir or Eomer.
It's a lovely model.

-
Wow jchaos! I have been looking a few days now for some more riders of rohan models and you drop one on my doorstep!
Is that a Pendraken model? What range is it from? I really would like some more rohan as my Isengaurd army is on the grow and it seems fit that the Rohhirm should to. I really like Coppelstone but was hoping to fins something cheaper than £5 a pop!
-
Well if he is carrying an axe then I would say its Eomer but from the looks it would also work as a mounted Boromir.
-
It is from Coppelstone. The pack of heros on horse.
I attach you a picture also from this pack and I think is a rohirrim (maybe the king or his son)
Well if he is carrying an axe then I would say its Eomer but from the looks it would also work as a mounted Boromir.
Could be eomer, not Boromir because has it own rider figure (with the horn included)
-
Aww I was really hoping it was pendraken. Oh well.
This is probably a plight in vain but does anyone have spare any of the Men from the Battle of Five armies set? I have been using them to make Rohirrm and would like to get hold of some more without getting a surplus of... well... everything else in the box.

I've started breaking up my bofa stuff. Not sure if I have men left. If I do, I'd be happy to sell.
-
I have loads, will swap 1:1 for bofa dwarves.
-
I have two units of dwarves that I would be happy to swap, if you have loads is there anything else I could trade with you for some.
I will happily pay for some please PM to arrange a price.
-
I have just managed to acquire:
BOFA - Dwarven Archers
BOFA - Elven Cav
BOFA - Trolls
Needless to say I am excited.
I've been working on my Harad, Far Harad lists.
Hopefully soon, I'll be able to post some pictures of my Far Harad Half Trolls

Well done.
I saw some rare oop stuff on another forum, but cannot justify the purchase.
Looking forward to pics when they are complete.
-
Okay an incredibly busy few weeks alot of things have needed sorted out... Also an ant infestation! I like ants they do a great job in nature but when they are in my house I am less friendly.
I have done next to no painting but have had a little planning time, This week I have mainly been looking at 'The army of the Dead' I am looking to place an order on Pendraken but I need to find some suitable figures for the AotD if anyone has any suggestions that would be swell.
Rolgan - I would really like to see your Far Harad guys, especially the half trolls. In my big book of WMME the plan was to use 15mm Zulus to act as them, but if you have a better idea I would love to... erm.. steal it.
Okay to go with my not much painting vibe here are some new Uruks, I like painting these guys as they only take a little while to do and I am really happy with the results. (Apart from alot of the white hands look like paws...) I have to say since seeing these pics the banner is a little dull might need to whiten it up a little.
I rebased my old uruks to get the more interesting phalanx formation. Here are more pikes. There are alot of Uruks sat in my production queue so hopefully you will see some more of these guys.
I painted these guys a while ago, they are BoFA human spearmen being used as Rohan infantry. They came out nicely enough but the same with most of my complaints is the banner. I wanted to go for something different to just another horse head so it turned into some kind of wierd Horse spirit? I kind of ran out of room for bottom legs. I am desperately trying to expand my rohan army, if anyone has reccomendations for pendraken minis to use as knights of Rohan I would like to see some.
Also you have seen him before but he was originally painted to be used with evil armies... its everyones favourite Sergei the Giant.
-
Nice basing on the uruk phalanx. Could we see a image in depth? or aerial view?
The rohan infantry is so nice! and the banner is strong!
About Far Harad (I am not planning doing it now) but time along I though about the figures to use, I remember that would fit well celt chariots (without charioteers), mongol figures mixed with early arabs and some byzantine cavalery for elite. What a salad! I do not have all the figues so I do not see the effect of such mix.
Which pack of rules do you use?
-
The uruk's kinda look like the ones in that tutorial on TLA (before its demise). ;)
Nice work. I also like what you did with the plastic lake men, using them as Rohan troops.
-
I wish I had know about TLA before it went down... That place would have been a great resorce. Apparently alot of the articles are still availible somewhere? Anyone knowwhere I can find some?
Here are some depth views of the uruks. I have been distracted by space hulk and work recently so painting has been slow...

Space hulk... it is understandable. Thanks Angor for the pics. They show exactly what I want to see. mmmh... basing phalanx is always a mindbender for me.
-
It has been a pain for me I have to say... I dont really like doing it so I will probably not get too many more units.
I would be happy to post some 'In Progress shots' if you like?
-

paint? I dont understand sorry :-[
I would be happy to post some 'In Progress shots' if you like?
Yes please. I am very interested in. Your formation looks great!
-
Oops I mean Pain.
Pain for me.
I hate basing pikemen more than grammar.
-
After seeing your phalanx pics, I had been making some test with bare metal figures, and I think I am going to base the phalanx with two figures per short frontal [with 2(pikes 45º); 4(pikes 60º) or 5(pikes up) figures in depth].
I used to base 3 figures per short frontal, other times go for basing them in long frontal. It is time to standarize.
Thanks again for the aerial pics Angor
