Hi there,
i'm starting with WM, and have 750 points... i wanted to know what do you think about the following 2k list:
- general with the orb of magesty
- Hero with sword of might
- sorceress
- Hero sword of fate
- 2x crossbowmen
- 4x spearmen
- 4x CoK, 1 with the standard of steadfeatness
- 2x DR
- 2x Harpies
- 2x Hydra
i've believe at least one of the hydrae could go, to be substituted by some more DR's (or CoK's), the other one is the one i've got and i love the model, so that one stays...
The army have been composed with army builder 2.2c, so the points might be a bit off...
thanks for your coments
greetings

Tom,
1st off. dont "think" magic items when making a list 8) , you should be "focussing" on two points
- army breakpoint
- staying in points
in a lot of situations you could face random magic items, or other restrictions. In general just build your army without them, and then use the items to use up remaining points. And trust me, in more then half the games I play(ed) I tend to forget to "use" my items anyway, other then the always handy "dispell scroll".
So when you go for a set number of points
- know what units you have at hand
- know which min/max you need to follow
- take all the mandatory units and characters, and then figure if you have enough command nodes, if not take more if you can
- fill up the remaining points with available units that suit your style of gaming, and consider that it is always better to end up with an odd number of units.
and ALWAYS make sure you take your favorite unit !!

Hy
Forget the orb of majesty; take the sceptre of sovereignty. much cheaper
In my mind, i wouldn´t use 2 Hydras; their profil sounds good, but they are as fast as infantry.
I would take CoK instead.
The rest sounds quite good.
cheers

I'm really glad to see that the the Specialist Forums are back, although it's apparently taken me 4-5 months to learn of them.
On the topic, I agree with Schindbua and will slightly disagree with Lex. Sceptre of Sovereignty is a "must have" for ant DE commander as it allows you, one time, to avoid having to execute a subordinate or suffer a -1 to CV. I always include one automatically when designing a DE army.

WOOT !! welcome back 8) how is the weather ?
Disagreeing with me huh ::) ;)
I just meant, when setting up an armylist dont FOCUS on Magic Items, as in general they dont make-or-break a list.

Hey Lex!
Beautiful weather here today. Should stay nice for another month or so, then winter will set in.
Gotta disagree with you sometimes -otherwise what would we have to talk about? This time, though, I was only saying that the Sceptre should be standard issue for the DE General. Otherwise, I do agree that maige items should be purchesed last, using up whatever odd number of points you have left over.

I tried something funny on Friday against Undead;
1x General + Sceptre of Sovereignity
2x Crossbowmen
4x Spearmen
6x Dark Rider
6x Cold One Knights + 1x Sword of Might
1x Harpien
BP of 10
Only one char force you to keep your army togehter, and you also have the chance to give all orders on a very high command value.
With the dark Rider you can go to the back of the opponent and shoot them down, and in the front you send the Cold Ones;
With the command of 10, the high BP and a lot of cav. you got a very fast and hard hitting army.
the undeads BP was 12 (incl. 6 chariots, 1 carrion, 1 bone giant and a lot of infantry); i breaked him in the 5th round and won by BP and points (about 950 vs 610);
I think this will better work with HE, but DE are also very powerfull;
so try out and give some comments.
cheers stefan
