Title: Alternative models for squads.
Post by: Angor on September 24, 2009, 02:52:19 AM
Hi guys

On another forum I saw this site hosted recommending the Mid Tech Marines for space hulk as they are heavily based off the marines from Aliens. What could be more appropriate?

http://www.denizenminiatures.co.uk/

The main reason I am linking this is the set of Hiker characters (they are in the same photo section as the Marines) I am already planning on ordering a set of these five Hitch hiker characters to use as a more fruity squad for those less serious multiplayer games of space hulk. Also 85 pence each!

Would you use the towel to represent the flamer then?

Can't see why anybody would wan't to replace miniatures that came with SH but as for Alien looking marines i would rather use GW stuff. I don't know this company but as for miniature standard GW is a decade ahead.

My plan was to use Marvin for the flamer... I think he is the only character who can kill off an entire rooms worth of people in one go. I like the idea of fierce Genestealers being bored to death by him. Zaphod would be the Sergeant, I dont think anyone else could possibly count as the leader. Arthur, Ford and trillian would just be my regular termies (I am tempted to give ford a towel).

The models may not be as polished as GW figures but I really dont like space marines and Blood Angels least of all! Also we have been playing alot of multiplayer games with either rival or competing squads of space marines and three Lorenzo models painted in varied Blood Angles colours looks a bit daft. Oh and I love the Hitch hikers guide to the galexy.

I'd actually say two decades, this stuff is very reminiscent of some of the stuff that GW was putting out 20-30 years ago...

Well first of all it was just a throw-away towel comment, mild pun there, especially if its a paper towel....

But more seriously, I thought that using Arthur as a flamer Marine, and then cutting a flanel into six pieces and using them as the flamer template would be a nice littler humourous twist...

Yes, but the models are soooooooo nice.... I'm not a huge Blood Angels fan, but by god are the models pretty... I just hope that I can keep hold of a 2nd set to be able to convert them, maybe into Dark Angels (just replace blood drops with broken swords), or perhaps a Codex Chapter that I devised many many years ago. I never did settle on a name for them though...

Oh and I forgot to say, if anyone doesn't want their 3rd ed. SH Termies I'll happily buy them of them, or see if I've got anything in my collection that you might want in exchange. I've got quite a lot of now OOP WM stuff for example, Kislev especially, possibly a couple of units of Empire Knight varients...

I am sorry because I get lost years ago in 40k.... what terminators are you refering. with 3rd ed.?

Are they the old SH terminators? because I have the expansion box of miniatures (very old) and I dont know if it is the 3rd edition.

From the fact he said "3rd ed. SH Termies", I would guess he means the 3rd edition Space Hulk Terminators i.e. the new ones. ;)
