December updates, some of which were painted in November. Despite the pace slowing down I keep painting. :)

1. Archers

2. Hero on elven steed

3. Silver Helms

4. Teclis and his Swordmasters

Next in line is the fourth and last Silver Helms squadron and second mage. Then, in order to finish painting my 2000 points army I have to paint 2 units of reavers, 2 "units" of eagles and a hero on a dragon. I still might do that this year. :)

Greetings!

The first "Tale of x painters" is over and here is the army I have completed for last few months.

In that time I managed to paint:

2 units of archers
2 units of phoenix guard
1 unit of spearelves (repainted)
2 units of silver helms
4 units of reavers
3 bases with characters

I will keep painting and posting photos of some more units as soon as I paint them. My goal is to paint all of them I have left. At some stage then you will see some more spearelves but also eagels, dragon princes and hero on dragon. :)

Greetings!

I hope you forgive me poor quality of pictures but I really wanted to post something after such a long period of silence. I didn't expect that a break after first tale was going to last so long. Fortunatley there is some progress in painting. I will upload better quality pictures as soon as possible. These are just to show you what I have painted recently.

1. Some more spearelves

2. Eagles

3. Hero on Great Eagle

4. Hero on Mighty Dragon

Cheers! :)

Great to see someone else plugging away.
I will reserve comment until you post your better pics as they look a bit yellow.  :(

Greetings!

I managed to get some better photos when we played a game a few days ago. (High Elves vs. Dark Elves, very tense battle, dark side won but it was very close and interesting battle :))

Ok then, here are the pictures:

1. Spearelves

2. Eagles

3. Dragon (I am not satisfied with the wings, I really rushed them and I believe I will repaint them)

4. Some group photos of the infantry

5. The army in the battle formation at the beginning of the fight

6. And the group photo of all the units I fielded that day (almost 2100 points)

Looking at the pictures I see many rough edges and that I was not careful enough. It can be eliminated easily just need to pay more attention :) I am glad with a general look of the army and it is a great feeling to be able to field entire painted force. Hope you like the pictures! :)

Cheers!

Now to comment.
I think the infantry look brilliant.
Always nice to see a non-white and blue army ;)
I think the eagles might benefit from a touch of dullcote to remove the sheen.
As for the dragon, it looks great, the wings are always tricky to do I find.
How about using a brown wash to blend the two shades followed by another highlight?

Keep up the good work.

Mick

Greetings!

Sorry for such a long delay but I was occupied with these:

And now I have found myslef painting vile Skaven for Easter Barbarian :) He decided his greenskins were a huge dissapointment and switched to his favourite ratmen. As he is preoccupied with too many projects with countless systems I offered some help and stepped up for a challenge. It is completely different story from my clean and shiny elves. So I decided for a little messy drybrushing and a lot of washing. I also wanted each Clanrat unit to be clearly distinguishable which helps in the game enormously, especially in their case. Below 4 units I have finished so far. Let me know what you think. I definitely enjoy painting them a lot. :)

Greetings!

Just a quick update. Sorry for the quality of a picture. Just wanted to say that to my surprise I managed to paint that army in 2 weeks  :o
Considering the fact I paint one unit of HE per week it is lightning fast for me. I hope to get some more detailed pictures later.

You might be upto my speed soon.  ;)
6000 points of chaos in 4 weeks :) and I am taking marauder heavy ones not just loads of knights and warriors.
Great work, skaven is the best army :)

Magnificent. Do show those close-ups, I'm intrigued to see what can be done so quickly. Out of interest, how much time do you think you put into these over the two weeks?

Greetings!

Thanks for comments!

@azrael71
You are definitely an inspiration and I am glad I am able to have a comperable painting speed. At least with some armies. :)

@pw
I first tested one unit of clanrats and I painted that in approximately 1 hour. I decided it is very good and painted one unit at a time. Swarms are done in no time. Then I proceeded to monks and started to paint 2 units at a time. And was surprised again that I managed to paint it in approximately an hour too! So basically by spending 1-2 hour a day I finished this army. Let's have a look at a few examples to see if the quality is acceptable. :) My pictures are still not good enough as the colours tend to be less intense but this is what I can achieve for now. Let me know what you think.

Clanrats

Another Clanrats

Stormvermin

Swarms

More Swarms

Gutter Runners

Plague Monks

Another unit of Plague Monks

Jezzails

Rat Ogres

Warp-lightning cannons

and last but not least Doom Wheel (I really like this model :))

As an additional comment I wanted to say that I intentionally used less models on clanrats/monks/stormvermin/jezzails than provided in blisters. I think they are too crowded if used all togehter and also helped me to create more units. :)

Cheers! :)

Whilst a skaven force is easy to paint, it is not easy to paint to this standard or to make the units stand out individually, but you have succeeded on both counts.
Congrats.
(Added as I cannot always see pics whilst at work ;))

I think that's a great idea -- the double ranks look good, but in general I think the WM bases look a bit crowded.  Further, especially for Skaven, orcs, Flags, or Bret peasants, things look both crowded and well-organized, which doesn't strike me as right.

@azrael71
Thanks a lot! I really appreciate that you like them. I am glad I could learn from you. :)

@Carrington
I saw it on this forum in the case of MPetz's army. I think it is a very good idea. The more I think about it the more I want to try a unit where you place each clanrat separately to achieve the effect of a disorganised mass of ratmen. Maybe I will try it some day :)

Well, unless eastern barbarian supplies me with more little rats I think I will get back to my some shiny warriors with pointy ears. :)

Cheers! :)
