Title: Does Base size matter?

I know in BFG you measure based on the Stem of the base for change range and movement but does the size of the base have any impact on the game?

A larger base size makes it easier to ram and board, and is a larger ordnance target, but that's it.

Ships with 1-10 HP can be on small bases, and ships with 11+ HP or 3+ shields must be on large bases. Smaller capital ships can be mounted on a big base, but there's no reason to except for the above.
