Title: WM in Holland?
Post by: xinemus on January 25, 2016, 08:44:37 AM
Hey all,

I have had warmaster stuff sitting on my shelves for a long time. Never really got started, since no one seems to play it in my area (Almere). I've seen there are some players in the south of Holland, but that's not really close enough to play on a regular basis.

So, now I'm thinking, is it worth putting a lot of time into painting these armies, with a big chance I will rarely get to play, or shall I just sell all of it... I do like the system, never played it but read the rules. Unless I can find someone to play with, I'm leaning towards getting rid of it all.

Decisions, decisions....

Almere to Bergen op Zoom is app 1:45 outside morning and evening traffic, but there are people with armies closer to you then I am. And I could be persuaded to make an occasional trip (which may be combinable with other actions)

You do have a point there. Well, I will get started on one of my armies and take it from there ;) I started a while back on my undead. I will dust them off and get them to a playable state.

Might be worth using the http://miniwars.co.uk/ website to help get a view of some gamers in Europe. =)

It is a pity! I have been there in November. I used to visit Holland every two years. And yes I would like play a game.  ;)

Well, good to hear there are options to get a game! I have dug out some of my mini's and started on my tomb kings.

First a bunch of cavalry to get used to painting this size again.
Hopefully I can finish them today and get them based.

In the mean time I'm cooking up some miniature soup. Hope they come out all clean :)

These are some mini's I painted a few years ago. Not sure if I will keep them,
or redo them. I have plenty more archers, so will probably just leave them as is.

These guys are all magnetized and attached to a metal base.
I will do this with all my units.

Thanks!

Well the paint stripping mostly worked. The paint on a few units did not budge after half a day in Acetone. But that gave me the change to try something new:

I must say that worked amazingly well. A few minutes and all the paint drooped off! Here's the result drying under the lamps.

Oh wow, I've not seen that paint stripper before - good to know it's effective.

I've used acetone and Fairy Power Spray.  The former is good for super glue, the latter for the actual paint.

I expected the acetone to do the job. Not sure why some would not come clean. I believe this paint stripper is also usable on plastic and resin. I was quite impressed.

Hey all,

Well I got started on my infantry. Decided to make one unit first, to see if I like this scheme. I'm not that great a painter, so I'm already happy if it doesn't look like a hideous blob.

Thanks, I thought it needed a different color to break up all the brown hehe, so I made them jade green.

Looks great to me - you could make your own Work In Progress thread to get encouragement. =)

Like them.  The white of the skeletons is very clear.

If you are still looking for players, i live in The Hague and after a long time of doing nothing with warmaster I am wanting to play some warmaster again. Not sure if there are any other players around in Holland?

Hey Alexander,

I found some players, but didn't get a chance to play yet. More is always better ofcourse. I am still working on my armies, but hope to be able to put up a painted army soon.

I live in Overijssel but I can play in Delft. I haven't played Warmaster yet though yet. I'm still busy painting...
