I just launched Warmonger Miniatures' fourth Kickstarter: 10mm German Landsknecht Hellebardiere (Halberdiers)
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1765086496/10mm-german-landsknecht-hellebardiere-halberdiers

I'm looking for $500 to cover the molding and casting of these guys. The funding period will end on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 11:59PM.
-
Thank you sir!
-
Dave, how many different sculpts will there be?
There seem to be 6 above, and the 2 on the commander strip.
-
There's more pics on the KS page (see the last picture for the 8 new sculpts), they're place holders until I get the stripped up mini pics from Bob. In short though: one standard bearer and drummer strip, and fourteen rank and file strips (six in column, eight in line) randomly selected from seven strips.
That's 14 rank and file sculpts and the two command sculpts (like the Pikemen).
-
Thanks Dave, sounds good glad to hear there are lots of poses, it was a bit hard to tell if the different shots were different figures or just different angles. Looking forward to seeing the photos of the strips.
My daughter was very worried that your KS had no pledges - but I pointed out that it had only been running for 8 minutes at that time! She was happier that it was over $100 an hour or two later. And it's now over the target!
-
That's good, we aim to keep our customers and their children happy with our KS performance here at Warmonger.
-
;)

Excellent news dave

I added some shots of figures all stripped up:

Thanks guys. Greens are en route.

Forgot I snapped some pics before these were taken down to the caster.

5 strips per base, nice configuration!
-
Looking forward to seeing them cast up (and delivered).
-
Wonderful seeing them lines up like that.
-
Any idea when these'll be purchasable on your web store? I'm holding off putting in an order for various Empire stuff until I can add these in.
-
I plan on picking them up at the caster next Wednesday. Given the bagging and shipping I'll have to do, along with snapping and touching up pics of them for the store , I'd say the 23rd. In any case, I'll send out an e-mail to my mailing list (you can sign up on the website) and post here when they're ready to go.
You can also do your order now, I can hold that and invoice you separately for the Halberdiers once I have them. You'd get them slightly quicker that way, as it would be before I put them to the store.

Snapped some pics of the production metal just now:

awesome Dave !
-
Looking really good!
-
The range is growing. Looking forward to receiving them.
-
pieces of art!
Well done!
-
What they just said! Looks likely that any 'Tale of WM painters' for June 2016 might show a lot of Warmonger minis being painted around the world?
-
Thanks guys. I'll be bagging the next couple of nights (256 units, 160 of them halberdiers). (http://www.dakkadakka.com/s/i/a/053f30f6773034eb25223d86f0e00d8d.gif)
Pledges will ship as I get the invoices, so people ought to be getting them next week. The June Tale will definitely be an option for people.
-
They look very good.
Which is good, as postage seems to have got more expensive :'(
Or perhaps in the past with shared pledges we bought lots of packs so it seemed cheaper per pack.
Anyway, happy to support the production of new 10mm figures - especially ones that are so lovely.
-
Ya, postage keeps creeping up every year it seems. It's also incredibly non-granular now, with regards to the weight. 8, 32, 48 or 64oz are the only categories for the most part. The sweet spot for the cheapest shipping per pack is just shy of 32oz. That's roughly 20-24 packs depending on what's ordered.
-
Another good Kickstarter under wraps it seems. When can we expect the next one? ;)
-
I'm waiting for the dust to settle and KS to actually send me the money so I can get a clear picture of that.
The halberdiers ended up costing me $1.05 more than my conservative estimate, so the proceeds aren't going to be much this time around. That, coupled with how I want to precede with cavalry (see below) means the wait might be longer than average. Who knows though, maybe people looking to start an Empire army will order a bunch of them and we'll be good to go. To that end, please review them, spread the word and link to the store when you get a chance outside these forums.
On the cavalry, I'm looking to commission 7 bare horses (walking, trotting and cantering) from Bob first, mold and cast them, and then send sets of metal horses back to him. He would then take a set and sculpt the knights, a set and sculpt the reiters, etc. It will effectively front load my costs, but will be cheaper to commission the sculpts in the long run as I won't have to pay for horse sculpts each time (just the riders).
-
Interesting (and good, I think) approach. Will you add barding to the knights' horses as well?
Judging the market interest from your Kickstarters I must say that I really appreciate and admire what it is that you do with this range. The quality is far better than that of many of the big names in 10mm. You really accomplish a lot with limited means.
-
Ya, barding and tack would be included with the riders, if necessary.
Thanks, the plan is to keep on doing it while it can pay for itself. I've been, effectively, reinvesting the same $1000 for the past two years. Once the profits can sustain new units I'll be able to get that back, but I need a bit more of a product base first.
-
Do you intend to branch out to other themes as well once the landsknecht "era" is fully covered?
-
Ya, likely Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth or Feudal Japan.
-
*joy*
-
Ya, likely Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth or Feudal Japan.
You mean "not-Kislev"? 😉
-
Yes. Samurai are, most definitely, "not-Kislev".
-
Thumbs up

;D ;D ;D

That idea with the horse sculpts sounds great- especially as you can then also sell the plain horses, and people can use them to make their own wagons, terrain, or similar oddities.
I'm curious- how well do the models tend to sell post-kickstarter? Are there still people buying the Landsknecht models?
-
The pikemen have been the best seller, the others less so but I have had to reorder all of them at one point or another.
-
Some proper winged Polish hussars would be very welcome.
-
Ya, I think there'd be a good market for them.
-
One would have to agree. Possibly even more for a Commonwealth range than for the Landsknechts considering what's in supply on the second hand market today.
-

I was thinking the same thing! If you are making some plain horses anyways, might as well sell them. I know I'd like a few plain horses for some wagon trains and what not.
Also some Hussars would be fantastic. Keep up the great work!
-
As a rough estimate, I'd probably have to sell 20 units to cover the additional costs. If people are interested contact me via the store. If there's enough interest I'll cut production molds for them.
-
Halberdiers arrived with me in Th UK. They look really good. Great work again Dave.
-
Great, glad you like them forbes.
The Kickstarter is all wrapped up and I have just added the Landsknecht Hellebardiere (Halberdiers) (http://warmonger-miniatures.com/store/10mm-landsknechte/hellebardiere-halberdiers.html) to the Warmonger Miniatures’ website.
-
They are very beautiful. I have been very happy with all of them so far! As far as bare horses are concerned. I'd probably only be interested in 2 orders worth myself. I haven't looked to see if other manufactures make any.
-
I'm intrigued by the horses - would you be doing plain horses that are un armoured and unbarded, like the Pistolier or Chaos Marauder ones?
-
Ya, nothing on them. Any armor/tack would be added along with the riders.
