Anyone in America's Midwest region go to Adepticon 2016? Want to go in 2017?
I was bouncing the idea around in my head to host a Man O'War competition next year at Adepticon. It's a great and large table top gaming convention held just outside of Chicago Ill. Thursday and Friday are both great days for some out of print "specialist games" but they do not have a MOW event.
I'm hoping on starting to test the support for an event like this before I really start to do any planning.
Just let me know if you are interested, thank you all.

Good initiative!

I'd be down for something after Warmaster on Friday night. It wouldn't have to be a tourney, we might get some more drop ins if it was a participation game or mega-battle.
-
a giant battle would be easier to pool all of the markers and spell cards. The worse case scenario was trying to do a tournament where there would be a need for 3 separate games going on at the same time and so 3 decks of magic cards and 3 decks of chaos magic cards all at the same time.
tournament rules wise, I was going to go with just timed games and have it be a run for battle honors. Most battle honors at the end of it all would be the winner.
How long would a "mega" battle take you think? What would be your desired fleet size for a battle like that?
-
I'd figure 1.5-2 hours per 1000 points. Maybe try a 2k game and block out 6-10pm?
-
2k games I thought take forever LOL
I had an idea to do 1k games and make everyone bring a flyer unit for the tournament :)
If everyone did do that for a fleet then you basically only bring one of everything in the fleet and it keeps the magic down to a minimum as youll just be squeezing them in to fit the point limits.
flyers get such a bad rap in this game so I doubt anyone has their models or has them painted.
I also had the idea of doing one big team game, so really only 2 fleets going 1 on 1 but everyone gets to control their own squadron or man o'war.
This would be the 25th anniversary for this game next year right? released in 92? nope, '93 but all the models have the "GW 92" carved into them.
lots of possibilities and once I get some people claiming to be interested I can then figure out what those people will be going to and then schedule it in. Like dave, you do the mordheim or necromunda Thursday night so that time slot is out for you, etc.

I submitted for an event at adepticon, man o'war open game. I have nothing planned right now but my brother promised to come to adepticon with me if I hosted a game so I guess whatever gets him to come out right? :)
I can easily bring a ton of stuff as I will be driving so when it's up I can make sure I have an e-mail address up with it and I can start figuring out what to do with it. my only goal right now is to get it on their website and list of games for other people searching for man owar stuff. Right now all I can say is I have asked for Friday night and it is currently just me and my brother. ;D
I will probably link game ideas to a thread at this sight as well unless anyone tells me not to.

If it's after WM I'm in. I have to decide if I want to risk bringing the Empire or paint up Dwarves or Chaos Dwarves (the sans-sail fleets).
-
fleets that I can bring.....
high elf
dwarf
empire
khorne
nurgle>1,000
tzeentch>1,000
Pirate>1,000
all sea monsters (x1)
and that is what I was aiming for was after the warmaster tourney, "late afternoon" as they put it.
-
I believe WM goes to 5, that may be "evening" at that point.
-
they had three time slots
morning, afternoon and late afternoon. I picked late afternoon hoping that meant five because evening starts at six but those are fairly subjective terms for times. I'm sure they will use it to be able to mold all of the different games into one venue you know?
-
Ya, the timeslots definitely lacked granularity. I added some extra notes for t he Epic events I posted, might be worth an e-mail to make sure you get to play WM too.
-
I e-mailed them a while back when registration first opened about cost and the times and never received a reply. So I registered without any info!! :)
I'm sure I wouldn't miss the Warmaster tournament though ;)
-
They finally made it official. I will make myself a facebook page sometime this week to allow for better discussions with players about this event. As of right now, it will just be a large open battle. If I get 6 or more players we could easily turn it into a tournament if decided.

I've signed up. If I can finish up some Griffon Riders I should be able to do 1.2k once a wizards and a couple of upgrade cards get added in.
-
Excellent, spread the word.
I have yet to sign up for anything but have plans to do so tonight. Sick last night and just went to bed.

Alright, its getting to be close to march and my mind, however clouded by Warmaster Revolution rule changes, needs to start thinking about my Man O'War event. There are currently 4 players total and that would make a nice open brawl and if we stick to that many players I might need to figure out a scenario.
Do any other long time players have a favorite scenario? I am a newcomer compared to most so I'm guessing I will pick the wrong scenario.
Suggestions are open, thank you.
P.S. my cases work well so I will be bringing all but my pirates, which include, high elves, dwarves, empire, khorne, tzeentch, nurgle and all sea monsters. Just in case someone wanted to play but does not have a fleet anymore or doesn't think they can manage bringing one.
