Sorry guys but we need your expert advice.
We cannot understand the utility of the "forces of chaos upgrade" number 9 of the blues book. It says that " One ship in your fleet may be equipped with boarding torpedoes and/or Dreadclaw assault boats."
Now...ships that have torpedos already have boarding torpedos, and ships with bays already have dreadclaws.
And if I apply to a ship not having torpedos and/or bays, how many torpedoes bays does the ship get? Just 1?!?
Probably it is written somewhere, but I cannot find it.
Thank you!!!

Duh... dunno. ;D

We wondered about that, too. (And did not find anything about getting Torpedos/LBs )
Our solution is simply to reroll an get another upgrade...

This was pointed out to me recently in discussion for my campaign rules addon, and we're kicking around some ideas to replace it. Check out the discussion here: http://www.forum.specialist-arms.com/index.php?topic=8236.0

I always thought that if you got an upgrade you already had, you re-rolled, so it was never really a problem.

Because if you are running a campaign with "too many" imperial players, it could make sense to declare some of them as traitors (this is a written suggestion somewhere in the campaign section) - then they are using the imperial ships, but are chaos "fluff wise" - and so you could have ships that follow the imperial fleet lists, but are roling on chaos tables.
And, according to FAQ chaos fleets can include a small number of imperial ships with reduced LD.
But yes, in the most cases this result can't be applied witch mean it has to be re-rolled.
PS: Fluff wise, every faction exept tyranids and necrons could be chaos and use these tables, if your campaign allows stuff like that. :D

Good point Lotus!
Thanks
